The Balderstone family has been involved in professional sport since 1958. Chris
Balderstone was one of the last dual professional sportsmen. He playing cricket
for Yorkshire, Leicestershire and England, helping Leicestershire to the County
Championship in 1975, 3 Benson & Hedges Cup medals and 2 John Player League
titles. In his football career he made 566 appearances for Huddersfield Town,
Carlisle United, Doncaster Rovers and Queen of the South, playing in England's
top flight for Carlisle.
