Rossett School

rossett school

HARROGATE

As a comprehensive academy our main aim is to ensure that our students achieve their potential – from Year 7 through to Sixth Form and beyond. We are very proud of our excellent reputation in the local community, as well as the wider areas of Leeds and the surrounding villages, and pride ourselves on the quality and breadth of education that we provide. We make principled decisions regarding examination entry, choosing to support the learning needs of the individual. Rossett School consistently achieves good examination results at both GCSE and in our Sixth Form. We are justly proud of our 'destinations data' that places Rossett School well above the North Yorkshire and national averages. In practice this means that all our Key Stage 4 students sustain their education, employment and training when they move to the next stage of their education. We expect all students to strive for continual improvement within a supportive culture that exhorts them to be Responsible, Resilient and Reflective learners. As an inclusive school, we expect our students to have the highest standards of behaviour, to respect diversity and to understand global citizenship and equality of opportunity. Our students are well-prepared to achieve future success once they move on from school, with the vast majority of our students going on to university study locally, nationally and to Oxbridge after Sixth Form. We are also delighted to be able to assist other schools in the region through the sharing of good practice and we are pleased to be one of the original partners within the Red Kite Teaching School Alliance, a cross-boundary affiliation of high achieving schools in North and West Yorkshire. The most important partnerships to us however, are the relationships built between school and home, where together we can most effectively prepare and support our students to achieve all that they can. Rossett School has high aspirations for every child and we endeavour to inspire ambition for all. We work hard to develop and innovate our learning and teaching experiences and put inspirational and inclusive learning at the heart of all we do. We continually advance our curriculum to be responsive to student need and skills for life. We work in a global twenty first century context, and invest in the professional development of our staff to keep ourselves at the cutting edge of education. In short, we want everyone at Rossett to be ambitious and to always aim high.

Parkside School

parkside school

West Yorkshire

Welcome to Parkside School where we are proud of our track record of enabling young people to achieve success and we are proud of being a fully inclusive school supporting students with a range of special educational needs. Parkside School is based in the village of Cullingworth on the edge of Bradford where we are a part of the local community. It is therefore important that we impact visibly and substantively on that community helping every member of our school, both students and staff, become the best that they can be. Excellent partnerships for learning are key to our success. Our students work hard, behave with consideration and show respect for others. We offer an exciting curriculum, personalised to meet the needs of individual students and we augment this with an ever-growing range of extra curriculum activities and opportunities. In addition, our Aspire-2B programme is a nationally acclaimed programme (National runners up and outstanding school of the North of England) that develops our students to become global citizens ready to embrace the 21st century. The Leeds City Region is a city region in the North of England comprising Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. The Leeds City Region is vibrant, exciting and diverse with a rich history that cuts across industry, commerce, culture and style. We not only need to prepare young people for working in the capital of the north and its surrounding area but in industries that are only just developing and in roles that currently do not exist. Research in the Journal of Education suggests that better informed teenagers are likely to make more advantageous careers choices and this in turn can be linked to higher earnings in adult life and that is why excellent preparation for the future is part of our mission statement. I have been a science teacher for over 20 years and a senior leader for more than 15 years, working in multicultural and diverse schools across both Leeds and Bradford. As headteacher I have an absolute passion and commitment to inclusive education as a way of improving the life chances of young people and their families. I believe that this is done through delivering the highest quality teaching and learning, whilst developing the whole young person in terms of their character, skills and ability to show resilience to the ever changing and challenging world around them. Excellent personal development in central to this.

Mtm Educational Consultancy

London

For more than 35 years, MTM Consulting has supported schools (state and independent), universities and other education providers to remain in business and to develop and thrive, whatever the economic climate. We are all about providing solid data, insightful analysis and clear recommendations to enable organisations to plan for future stability and success and to uphold their responsibilities to parents who entrust them with their children’s education. In fact, we’ve worked with more than 500 schools and researched more than 250,000 parents. Our feasibility studies, supply and demand analyses and stakeholder research projects are all designed to help school business leaders to understand the potential of their organisation’s market, where they stand against their competitors, what the market wants and what it does not want. MTM equips education decision-makers with the information and insight they need to make the right choices for the future of their organisations. Education business expertise MTM’s team are all education business specialists with many years of experience. We understand the challenges and opportunities of the education sector and we want to use our expertise to help schools and other education providers to find the right course and achieve success. We are friendly and approachable We want to help We enjoy designing bespoke market research, marketing and business strategies to meet individual clients’ specific needs We encourage questions We communicate throughout We present or report on our findings and recommendations in a way that best suits each client We love to provide all the detail our clients need We follow up to see if we can help further We keep in touch Meet MTM’s expert team… Evidence-based decision-making MTM Consulting’s support of its education clients is based on facts, expertise and experience. Our market research projects focus on providing the data and information required to make crucial decisions on resourcing and activities to: improve recruitment and increase the school roll minimise student attrition and improve retention and raise the organisation’s profile in its target market and the education sector in order to attract families, teaching and non-teaching staff, leaders and governors who will bring their skills and work as a team to ensure the organisation’s future success MTM uses UK-wide demographic information and a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to acquire exactly the data required to inform clients of the realities of their organisation’s situation. Of course, we don’t expect our education clients to be experts in market research themselves – through a series of friendly, collaborative discussions our team members are able to work with clients to ascertain the information that would be of greatest benefit to them in their decision-making. We ensure that the pricing of our products is transparent, and realistic in relation to education organisations’ budgets. In fact, we have recently revisited our offer in order to break down projects into distinct elements to improve affordability, particularly with smaller organisations in mind. We also offer subscription packages and the opportunity to spread payments over time. MTM’s suite of market research projects is infinitely customisable to suit the needs of individual clients and can be combined to create a totally bespoke market research project designed to meet clients’ needs exactly. Real-world insight, analysis and recommendations for success MTM is a long-established education market research company, which has a true understanding – built over three decades – of education, coupled with unparalleled skills and experience to support education business leaders to make the decisions that will lead their organisations to be steadfast and successful in the long-term, for the benefit of their stakeholders, staff and students. Our researchers have at their fingertips many years’ worth of sector- and country-wide data and are adept at using this to benchmark our clients’ performance. This helps business leaders to develop a real understanding of their organisation’s position and to see ‘the bigger picture’ and the potential in their market. Sometimes it is not just about what the data shows, but what it doesn’t show – our experts are able to draw attention to the gaps in an education organisation’s performance that can be crucial when making decisions on areas of future development. MTM works with a team of business professionals, all with proven track records in their fields, who work with our clients to maximise the opportunities revealed by market research and analysis. Business, marketing and international expertise is on offer to ensure that the client is able to develop a practical action plan – and a set of key performance indicators that will allow it to be assessed and scrutinised – as the organisation heads towards achieving its objectives. Our business professionals are collaborative team-workers, but they also have the strength and experience to draw our clients’ attention to areas of weakness and aims that are unachievable. We know that facing up to realities makes for a healthier business in the long term and ensures that funds and resources are focused on attainable goals. Supporting education It is our great pleasure to see our education clients succeed. There can be no better business to be in than education, and MTM is a staunch supporter of parents’ right to choose the environment in which their children are taught – state or independent, small or large… We work with education providers of all kinds and we are firm believers in the importance of a breadth of offering to suit all families. Early Years: MTM’s Feasibility Studies provide vital market information to schools and groups considering opening a new nursery or re-shaping their existing provision. Independent schools: MTM’s market research, business and marketing strategy projects are designed to help schools to be successful and sustainable in the long-term so that they are able to offer their pupils the education they deserve for the duration of their school careers State schools: MTM offers great insights into pupil and parent satisfaction and staff wellbeing to help schools to engage with the school community and ensure that educational resources are being maximised. School groups: MTM is able to advise groups (independent and state academies) on the potential success of new acquisitions and to help streamline the business of education for efficiency and to ensure maximum resources are available for education. Higher education: universities and higher education providers turn to MTM to help them to understand the opinions of their students on the quality of education they are receiving and the potential effect on their next steps in education and employment. Long-standing relationships with education clients We maintain very strong relationships with our clients, many of whom we have worked with on a regular basis for decades. To see real examples of MTM projects, please read a selection of our case studies. Over the past three decades, MTM has worked with big and small names in independent and state education, early years providers, higher education providers and education suppliers and investors. Rather than engaging MTM as a supplier, we like to think we are part of the team, offering information, skills and experience to support education organisations to maximise their business potential and provide a secure learning experience for their students well into the future. Communication with our clients is on-going and we constantly ask which aspects of our service they have most appreciated, and which could be developed. We act on our clients’ feedback and hone our products and services to make sure that they offer our clients exactly what they need.

IVE Studio

Leeds

We are IVE (formerly CapeUK) was established as an incorporated company in April 1997 and registered as a charity in April 1999. Inspired by radical new models of creative education, the company was originally set up as a research and development organisation. CapeUK looked to drill down into the creative process and explore how it might be used to drive improvements in teaching and learning. We became influential in relation to policy development and established a national and international reach in relation to championing creativity and professional learning. We also acted as advisors to Government on the importance of creativity and how it might be developed as a transferable skill. By 2014 we realised there was an opportunity to diversify our work and utilise the learning that 17 years of research and development had provided us. It was clear there was significant appetite beyond the education and cultural sectors for programmes that were aimed at developing the creative capacity and competencies of the workforce, and particularly in leadership. We have therefore spent the last 5 years designing and delivering training that aims to teach creativity as a transferable skill and how to create the right environment for creativity to flourish within the workplace, driving innovation, in a consistent and structured way. We also draw out the leadership and team behaviours that are needed to support this. IVE today Rosi Lister, CEO, explains: Rosi Lister CEO We are IVE “In 2016 we began delivering creative leadership training in sectors that are highly regulated and where staff are not traditionally encouraged or empowered to think outside the box, but where there is a growing need for this skill set. “Then, in 2017, our umbrella identity became We Are IVE Ltd, establishing InnovatIVE as our trading company which gifts all profits to our charitable programme. This programme seeks to inspire young, diverse & talented people from some of our most disadvantaged communities through a range of opportunities designed to develop their own creative potential as future leaders.” We believe that the workplace of the future depends on having individuals that are creative, that are able to adapt, that are resilient and have the range of skills and aptitudes employers are looking for. That’s why, when we deliver our training on an earned income basis, the profit goes back into supporting our charitable programmes for disadvantaged young people. It is therefore a ‘pay it forward’ scheme where all our customers and beneficiaries win.

Access Underwater

Knaresborough

Access Underwater Ltd are a specialist underwater, diving and confined space contractor with almost 100 years combined commercial diving experience. Our company was born from a desire to centralise and coordinate the extensive diving, confined space, and restricted access experience and capabilities of our founding team members into a single solution provider. With a wealth of underwater; offshore construction, inspection, fabrication, engineering, military, emergency service and recreational/technical/cave diving/instructional backgrounds, combined with an extensive list of television/film credits, we believed that our clients would be better served by having one solution provider for their underwater access requirements, trained to the most exacting industry standards and practiced in almost every aquatic environment imaginable. We are registered with the HSE as a Diving Contractor and comply fully with The Diving at Work Approved Codes of Practice for Inshore Commercial and Media Diving (revised December 2014) and The Diving At Work Regulations 1997. About Access Underwater Despite clients often becoming overwhelmed with high running costs for their facilities, pool, plant and filming budgets, there is still a growing demand for professional and creative services to address outside-the-box, diving and restricted access projects. Clients require a dedicated service provider who can bring together all of their service, maintenance, access and creative requirements, make them affordable and offer cost-saving solutions. Utilising skill-sets forged from an impressive portfolio of projects including marine salvage, offshore oil and gas, wind farms, media productions and commercial pool facilities, Access Underwater is proud to offer such a service through our friendly, knowledgeable and highly-skilled personnel. Our team members bring their skills and expertise to your project honestly, affordably and with the highest regard for safety. We maintain a loyal, satisfied and expanding client base and look forward to discussing how we can help bring solutions to your project. Access Underwater’s Vision We aspire to be the gold standard* in our industry and want our clients to feel completely at ease knowing that they are in the safest, most professional hands. We enjoy close working relationships with all of our clients, who know we are completely dedicated to the successful completion of their projects and exploring all possibilities to deliver solutions that are right for them individually. From the very beginning, we have put honesty and complete transparency at the heart of what we do and continue to ensure that we are not only offering the best value for money but also sensible and intelligent solutions that will themselves pay dividends in the long-term. Access Underwater’s Gold Standard We noticed that during the design process with our logo, the abbreviation by which we have become known by our clients (AU) is the symbol for gold in the periodic table of elements. With this in mind, we decided immediately that the Vitruvian Diver in our logo would be crowned with a gold standard diving helmet to represent this gold standard of workmanship.

The approach I take within my work comes from my own life experiences, extensive training and research, my interest in fellow human beings and a deep longing to share with others my knowledge of self-development, spirituality and natural healing. I graduated in Biology at Durham University in the 1980s and I entered the workplace at the Science Museum in London. Science and particularly the Medical Sciences were my first loves, however a taste of the stress and pressure of city life, led me to take off on a travelling adventure and find out what it was I really wished for out of life. Whilst living and working in South East Asia I gravitated towards Buddhism and the Ayurvedic approach to wellness and health. I took a course in 'Chakra Consciousness' in India where I qualified as a teacher. This changed my whole outlook and meditation/natural healing became part of my life and it stuck. On returning to the UK, two children later, and having decided to completely switch career, I worked in a Natural Health business whilst further training in Stress Therapy, Holistic Massage, Acupressure and Reiki Healing. I opened my first 'Holistic Wellbeing' clinic in Wetherby in 2006 and then 'Qui Wellbeing' in Sicklinghall and I have now worked 1:1 with a wide range of clients. In 2017 I qualified as a Mindfulness Association teacher and UK registered with the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches following the UK good practice guidelines. In 2019 I qualified as a Compassion Based Living Teacher with the Mindfulness Association. In recent years I have delivered Mindfulness based interventions to recovering addicts (5-ways academy in Leeds), vulnerable adults (Harrogate Homeless Project), leaders working with vulnerable adults, stressed city workers (NHS digital Leeds), sixth formers (Harrogate Grammar school) and I am currently working with University of Leeds on research funded by the Medical Research Council into approaches to mental health in adolescents. Recently I recorded a professionally produced audio version of the MBLC course for the Mindfulness Association. I continue to deliver to private clients and groups at the Acorn Wellness Retreat and at Carlshead Business Centre. I am now very happily part of the Kagyu sangha of Tibetan Buddhism and practice at Samye Dzong, Samye Ling and with Mindsprings. I regularly attend immersive retreats. I combine my multi-disciplinary skills, my extensive client-based experience and my deep belief in the power of Mindfulness to create a unique and considered approach to personal wellness and natural health. Communicating through social media, magazine articles and blogs keeps me abreast of new developments and research into my diverse areas of interest. Other than that, I am committed to be happy and compassionate in my work, with my family, with the people I meet and the world around me. I am very grateful to my many guides and influences. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Namaste

Thinking Big Community Interest Company

thinking big community interest company

London

We are a group of individuals from different backgrounds and with a broad range of experiences. Collectively we have worked in and with statutory services, private business, charitable and voluntary organisations, and across many sectors including health and social care, education, heritage and industry. Each Director brings a rich array of knowledge and perspectives and we are bound by our common interest in building a fairer society. We like to be creative and to seek the involvement of others in generating new ideas, both to overcome existing challenges and in Thinking BIG about new ways to improve experiences and outcomes. After a number of years of talking about ideas, we decided it was time to take action. We looked at different models for forming a charitable, not-for-profit organisation, and took advice from some who had gone before us in this sector. As a result, we formed Thinking BIG as a Community Interest Company, dedicated to engaging in training, and projects with individuals, groups and organisations, in pursuit of the overarching aim - to promote social inclusion, opportunity and wellbeing, by making a positive difference to services and people's lives through meaningful training and community engagement. There are no share holders, no dividends and no spurious expenses. Any funds raised are put entirely into the running of projects for the benefit of the community. As for the name, we asked the people we work with what words they thought captured what we do. We want people to Think BIG when considering new projects and activities, not to be limited by what is already out there. A little imagination and passion goes a long way, and we're on an exciting journey. We have experience of achieving outstanding outcomes, both with organisations, and with individuals. Our training is designed, delivered, evaluated and quality assured, with organisations benefiting from improved employee ability, confidence, performance and wellbeing. Our community projects have made a positive difference to people's lives, and include collaborations with The National Lottery Community Fund, the Police and Crime Commissioners for West and South Yorkshire and their Violence Reduction Units, Menston Parish Council, Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Kirklees Council, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, and Yorkshire Mentoring. Our Story Our aim is to promote social inclusion, opportunity and wellbeing by Thinking BIG. To achieve this, our vision is to facilitate positive experiences, progress and sustainable outcomes; empowering people through education, training, skills-building and having a collective voice in shaping future services and lives. Much of our work is with individuals and groups who face barriers to inclusion, opportunity and/or wellbeing, and others who can support these very people. Children and adults can be vulnerable or disadvantaged by many factors including disabilities, ill-health, poverty, abuse, isolation, marginalisation or being in care. They can also find it difficult to keep themselves and others healthy and safe, or to access opportunities, services or employment, as a result of missing out on appropriate education, training or support. We can help to achieve goals and aspirations which improve lives. Others who support vulnerable people include families, friends, carers, schools, and involved or potentially supportive professionals, volunteers and services. These people can also face challenges which need to be recognised and addressed and they can be empowered in their roles through dedicated support and training. By choosing to use our training services for their teams, organisations can benefit from outstanding workforce development whilst simultaneously supporting their communities, as money raised is invested back into meaningful activities and projects
