InshoreTraining (Established 1998) Inshore Training was established and recognised as an RYA training centre in 1998 and since that time has provided training to over 350 students with over 150 satisfied students returning to complete further courses with us in Navigation and Marine radio. We offer RYA Shorebased Courses in a variety of forms to suit the needs of the students, Nightschool, Weekend Courses, One to One or Group Packages, Courses tailored to suit students individual requirements. So if you need to avoid clashes with sailing, diving or working then discuss your needs with us so we can put together a suitable programme with you. Courses can be staged at our venue or at your own club facility

Manningham Mills Sports & Community Association is a charity based in Bradford. For over 150 years, we’ve been bringing people together through sports at our Scotchman Road location. We started our journey as Manningham Mills Cricket Club, a branch of the Lister Mill Sports & Social Club. Originally built in 1838, Lister Mills was once the world’s largest silk mill. Over 7,000 workers had access to our fields for football, cricket and tennis and the social club for table tennis, snooker, bowls and ballroom dancing. After the Mill’s closure in the 1990s, the site was sold to property developers. Members of the Manningham Mills team (Andrew Shepherd, Michael Kaye, Jeff Slater and Delroy Dacres) asked for support from local MP Marsha Singh. Following some investigation, Marsha Singh discovered that a Lister Mills covenant meant the fields could only be used for sports and recreation. Once the property developers were notified, they agreed to sell the fields to Manningham Mills, who secured government funding. The new trustees placed the fields in a trust, protecting their use for sports and recreation for future generations – and changed the name from Manningham Mills to Manningham Mills Sports Association. In June 2006, following a £1.3ml investment, the club reopened with a modern and accessible clubhouse, an electronic cricket scoreboard, IT suite, players’ lounge and multi-function events space. An official opening took place with Gerry Sutcliffe MP, the Sports Minister at the time. In 2008, we became a charity and updated our name to Manningham Mills Sports & Community Association. The club’s legacy continues with a new generation of sports players, including cricketer Adil Rashid, part of the England team that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Hi there! I’m Karen Holmes, manager and owner of Play Academy. In the Summer of 2019, my life took a huge, exciting turn when I took on this wonderful club. Up until then, I had spent 20 years as a very happy & successful Primary School teacher. During my time as a teacher, I had the pleasure of working with many, many children across the primary age range. I also trained as a student mentor and worked alongside trainee teachers supporting & developing practice. In addition to this I was also responsible for the PSHE curriculum across the whole school, an area I am still massively passionate about. Whilst building my career as an educator, I was also bringing up my two gorgeous sons Toby & Zach. Because I was juggling being a mum with being a teacher, I fully understand the desire parents have for quality wrap around care for children; it’s something my husband and I accessed for our two lovely boys during their primary years. As my career progressed and opportunities were being put in front of me, I paused for a bit and realised that teaching was no longer for me. I was spending less and less time doing the things that had steered me into teaching in the first place; planning, creating & facilitating new and fun quality experiences for children. I wanted to get back to just having ‘fun’ with little people, blowing bubbles, building dens, playing boards games, enjoying the outdoors and most of all…….laughing! To allow children a comfortable, home from home space to practise being good citizens, develop key life skills and master the art of a two way conversation.

Since 2015 YSWN has established a network for women and girls interested in gaining skills and confidence in music and sound technology. We’re growing all the time, with several affiliated groups across Yorkshire – and as far afield as Malta – who provide a place for sharing skills and advice, finding mentors, making friends and building communities. In addition, we run a host of projects devoted to education, network-building and artistic development. We also work with the audio industry to promote equality, tackle discrimination and increase opportunities for women and people of non-binary genders. Our workshops offer hands-on experiences in DJ-ing, live coding, Ableton, soldering electronic instruments and much more, in friendly, encouraging environments. We’ve hosted inspiring talks by leading musicians and audio professionals – and we have our own podcast.

My name is Lucy and I run LSB Learning, an online tutoring company offering 1:1 quality lessons in maths for all ages. I am a fully qualified teacher with over 10 years teaching experience. I have a degree in Early Years education with qualified teacher status and in the past have worked as a full time primary school teacher. I also have taught secondary school students specialising in children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and I excel teaching children with social anxiety as my approach to learning is to be patient, take my time with concepts and not rush. I also have experience in maths functional skills and am willing to teach maths skills to adults who want to develop their skills in this area to help with college and university admissions or simply to brush up on your skills. My approach to tutoring is engaging and hands-on. I am very passionate about maths which shows through my teaching. I am skilled in teaching different ages and abilities and as a result, I am well trained in adapting my sessions to meet the different needs of each and every student. Rachel makes quiet works that evoke a presence or memory of a place or experience. Her areas of practice are influenced by sound, perception and time and how this is expressed visually and sonically. She works with a diverse range of mediums using painting, sound, film & historic photographic processes. Through creating work she intends to harness meaning and resonance which in turn invites the viewer to make their own connection to it. A UK based artist, she trained in both design and fine art at Manchester and Leeds Arts Universities. This multi disciplinary approach provides a lens through which to view and reflect upon themes of consciousness and being and how these reflections can be expressed visually and sonically. She has collaborated with organisations such as The National Trust and her work is held in private collections in the UK, USA and Australia.

I’m Matthew and I’ve been helping my students succeed at school and university since 1992, including over 13,000 hours of one-to-one tuition to over 400 students. My philosophy is: more than higher grades. I teach A level Maths and Further Maths, A level Statistics, and A level Physics. At GCSE level I have worked very successfully with students aiming for a grade 6 and above. I also help undergraduates on courses with mathematical content, such as Economics and Business Studies. My focus is on achieving high grades through understanding the material. I tailor my approach depending on individual needs and interests and I believe in making the subject as simple and enjoyable as possible. I am enthusiastic, friendly and approachable. I really want my students to succeed and I’m very happy to be contacted for help outside of their lesson time. I was recently invited by Talksport Radio to be their “maths expert” to speak on the topic of coin tossing, in the context of determining who bats first in a cricket match. You can read a fuller version of what I said here. UCAS + OXBRIDGE ADVICE It is not enough simply to do well at A level, of course: students need to be given the tools to succeed at university. To that end I take a very full interest in their education generally. As one student recently put it, I am “so much more than just a maths tutor”. For example I give guidance and support with university entrance, including the UCAS personal statement, applying to Oxford and Cambridge, and interview preparation, and I have personal experience of working in both the legal and accounting professions. I’ve written a detailed guide for university applicants: Writing your UCAS personal statement. ACADEMIC HISTORY + TEACHING EXPERIENCE I have an outstanding academic record and over twenty-five years experience as a teacher and examiner, during which I’ve received excellent feedback from my students and their parents. I have tutored over 400 students in Harrogate: that’s over 13,000 hours of one-to-one teaching since I started tutoring in 2006. FEES My fees are £220 per month, which covers four one-hour lessons and ongoing continuous support and help outside of lesson time. I do whatever I can to help my students succeed: I’ve even answered messages from a frantic student at midnight, and I’m always happy to talk to parents and guardians. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Because I tutor full-time, I only teach from my home on Victoria Avenue, in central Harrogate, and online. I teach on weekdays from 4pm to 9pm.
