What is Occupational Hygiene? Occupational Hygiene can be defined as the recognition and identification of hazardous agents (Chemical, Physical or Biological) in the workplace that could cause disease or discomfort. Hygienists need to be able to evaluate the degree of the risk due to exposure to these hazardous agents and be able to offer advice on controlling the risks to prevent or minimise ill health in the long or short term.
