Juniper Green Tots is a small, family orientated nursery based in Juniper Green, Edinburgh. We offer full and part time places for children aged between 6 months and 5 years. We are governed by the Care Commission, and our staff have been specifically chosen for their commitment to providing quality care for each individual child in our setting. Each member of our team has a recognised childcare qualification. Our staff offer a secure, warm atmosphere where your child can grow and flourish. Each child has a special carer to ensure the care they receive during their time at nursery is tailored to their individual needs. A balance of fun activities including brain gym classes, singing, story time, painting, sticking, baking, construction, sand play, water play and much, much more is provided to encourage and stimulate all aspects of development. Juniper Green Tots is divided into two play areas to accommodate the wide development stage of 0-30 months - our busy messy area where toddlers can enjoy and investigate a wide range of play experiences and a quieter area where our babies can explore and discover in a much calmer atmosphere. We also have a secure back garden which is specifically designed to provide all the facilities your child will need to encourage and stimulate all aspects of cognitive, physical, emotional and social development in a safe, secure environment. Kids love our after school clubs. Parents do too. At Trinity After School Club we are proud of the exciting and stimulating childcare we offer. We understand each child is different and that they want to get involved in different things. Every day there are planned arts and crafts activities, outdoor games, and quiet time for reading or to do homework. All the children get involved in planning the activities and outings at the after school clubs. They bring new ideas or develop initiatives suggested by the staff. The kids make sure we do interesting things and get involved in the community – from a tooth brushing project, writing a song and a performance on anti-bullying to building relationships with a local elderly residential care home. We make sure there is plenty of variety. Our experienced staff encourage an all-inclusive environment where consideration for others is paramount. Policies and procedures are in place to cover all aspects of childcare to reassure parents and guardians that we have their children's interests at heart. Flexibility of care is important to parents and guardians and we offer full-time (5 days per week) and part-time places (2, 3 or 4 days per week), and we operate a Crocodile Club for P1 and P2 children who finish earlier. We cover most holidays and in-service days and our team plan ahead with the children to offer a great range of holiday activities.

Our school supports students in developing creative confidence and finding courage through a range of icon painting courses and workshops open to students at all levels. Edinburgh School of Icon Painting was founded in September 2013. It is a small school based in the artist hub St. Margaret's House. The school mission is to teach icon painting (writing) to people of all different backgrounds but at the same time maintaining the ethos and essence of it's spirituality. Introducing this unique form of art to students of the school I introduce a way of practising art which is different the other forms of art and it is said to be more then just art. Students learn egg tempera technique which has been used in art for centuries and it is one of the most lasting painting techniques. There are still reasonably well preserved icons from VI Century. Egg tempera involves preparing own paints using egg yolk and dry pigments. Through the whole process of work we try to limit synthetic materials. Using organic materials helps to develop a connection with nature and in consequence with the Divine. Basia Mindewicz - founder and teacher. Born in 1978. Graduated from The Maria Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education, MA and College of Iconography (Policealne Studium Ikonograficzne) in Bielsk Podlaski in 2008. Whilst everyone might not agree wholeheartedly with the saying that ‘schooldays are the best days of your life’, none the less, schooling of some sort is part of our popular heritage. So in 1986 a number of people involved in the world of education and museums got together, and started collecting things; to save them from oblivion. The result of their action is a formidable, possibly unique collection, that incorporates a very eclectic mix of old school ‘stuff’. Most of it is indeed old, robust, and built to last, but some of it is a bit more recent vintage – including a BBC Computer. At this time, it was agreed that the best way to organise the care of this collection and to give some form of public access, was to put it all in the hands of a charitable trust. Since then, we have moved with the times and are now a duly constituted SCIO, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, but still run by a small band of dedicated trustees aided and abetted by a growing number of volunteers.
