Our *NEW* Mini First Aid Baby Proofing class is our second class, designed for parents and carers of babies and children over 3 months. It can be taken after our 2 hour Baby and Child First Aid class, or in isolation for those parents who are starting their weaning journey, or have a baby on the move!
This course is an absolute must for preventing accidents in the home – very sadly, in 2020 over 60,000 children were admitted into hospital in the UK after a preventable accident. Parents and carers lead such busy lives that we are often just a bit of good luck away from a hair straightener burn, a fall down the stairs or a choking incident while your back is turned. Baby proofing will teach you how to prevent these accidents from happening, as well as giving you a first aid refresh on how to deal with burns and choking.
The 2-hour Baby Proofing class is Accredited by the Global Alliance for Child Safety. Mini First Aid Baby Proofing follows on perfectly from our parent and carer first aid class and is available at public venues or a private class at home.

There are a gazillion things I never seem to get around to doing (fixing the broken blind in our bedroom, getting some photos printed of ‘the baby’ who is almost two but still doesn’t exist on our walls, pinning down the coffee date I’ve been promising my neglected friend via WhatsApp for at least 6 months…) BUT this morning I finally got my arse in gear and ticked off something from my ‘Really Must Do’ list by attending a First Aid class designed specifically for parents, grandparents and carers of babies and young children. St Joseph’s School, Wetherby (Early Years class) Our Nursery class love to get involved in whole-school curriculum enrichment activities but First Aid for 3-4 year olds? Even for our well-seasoned teachers, this sounded like a tall order. How wrong we were! Our sessions with Claire were absolutely brilliant. Skillful teaching, great resources, clear messages and important safety information; empowering our children to feel like mini first aiders. With the help of Max the teddy, we learned simple first aid techniques for cuts, scrapes and head bumps; as well as learning how to make someone comfortable by lying them on their side if they are very poorly. One afternoon, we were enjoying a day out in the sunshine and had stopped to feed our daughter of 7 months, she’s just started solid food and we’d been giving her sliced banana to chew on. On this particular day, she inhaled a small piece and began to choke. I quickly remembered Martin’s words, put her in the proper hold, bottom in the air and one forceful strike between her shoulder blades dislodged the banana and although she was shocked, she was able to breathe again and I can’t tell you how relieved we felt! It may have only been 10 seconds in which she couldn’t breathe but it was terrifying. Had I not had the training from Martin and Mini First Aid, I cannot even begin to imagine how differently the situation could have turned out. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the training I received enabled me to save our daughter’s life.

Suitable for beginners and those with more experience, in this workshop you will design and create your very own bespoke, slate garden mosaic with Jacky from Mossy Mosaic.Mosaic making fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Old slate can form the perfect base for a garden mosaic, hanging from the shed or balancing on a border. Bring new colour and interest into your garden with your very own bespoke design using vitreous glass, old china and sea washed glass!In this workshop you will use a reclaimed slate base to make a gorgeous mandala mosaic. You will be shown how to cut china and vitreous glass and you can also include sea washed glass and glass nuggets as part of your design. We will embed the tiles into an adhesive mortar mixture (an alternative method to gluing &amp; grouting). Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. Immerse yourself in mosaic making on this introductory workshop with Jacky Cox from Mossy Mosaic.On this introduction to mosaic making workshop you will create two mosaics using vitreous (&#39;swimming pool&#39;) tiles, learning methods you can do at home. You will begin by designing, cutting your tiles and making a beautiful hanging heart. This Practical Heat Pump Surveying training, one-day CPD course attracts 5 CPD points, and is specifically designed for individuals and companies that want to train themselves and their staff on exactly how to carry out Heat Pump Site Surveying and show how to produce specific room-by-room heat loss calculations for use by installation companies. 
The course differs from our extensive 2-day Renewables Technical Surveying course in that this one-day session is about the practical aspects of surveying for heat pumps, as opposed to explaining how existing and low temperature heating systems work along with the methodology behind the surveying process. 
For attending this course we automatically assume that candidates will already have a basic/good knowledge of existing home heating systems and building construction processes combined with identifying varying building fabric elements.
This practical surveying course is primarily aimed at Energy Suppliers, Equipment Manufacturers, Renewables Installers, Domestic Energy Assessors, Retrofit Assessors, Retrofit Co-ordinators, Renewables sales staff and suitable for individuals with a reasonable level of knowledge in varying building structures, heating systems and varying renewable technologies. 
Note: This 1 day course is an interactive course you will be required to have your camera active for the duration of the day.

Morning - Practical training on gathering Heat Pump Site Survey data using digital software
Afternoon - Practical training on digitally completing Heat Loss Calculations using digital software

Learner Task - Using a second preconfigured 360 degree property walkthrough and additional detailed site measurements, using the downloaded digital floorplan software learners will carry out a detailed a Heat Pump Survey of their own, for use in producing room-by-room heat loss calculations - we guide learners step-by-step through the process.
Providing relevant site video evidence - We show you our site videos relating to the survey we have shown you and discuss how and explain why we provide good video evidence to clients

Afternoon Session (Completes 16:30hrs) 
Using common Heat Loss software packages - We show learners a few of the heat loss software packages currently available before finally going through a sample of one of these packages to produce a detailed Heat Loss Report
Note: All Learners are required to download the 'Training version' of the Heat Loss software prior to course attendance - Links are provided prior to the course start date. We do not make allowances for candidates that have not downloaded the Heat Loss software, if you have not downloaded the heat loss software and are not ready to complete a heat loss calculation, you may be asked to leave the course and re-attend on a different day. There is no charge for re-attendance.
Using the 'Course Tutorial' as the basis for completing a Heat Loss Report we guide learners through how to use this information to formulate a room by room heat loss calculation using the heat loss software we have provided. 
Learner Task - Using the 'Learner Task' floorplan completed on the Morning Session we provide learners with guidance whilst they complete their own room by room heat loss calculation report using the heat loss software we have provided.
We finally provide information and guidance on how to save and send a completed heat loss report to clients.

This Solar PV & Storage Surveying training has been specifically designed for individuals and companies that want to train themselves or their staff on exactly how to carry out Solar PV & Battery Storage Site Surveys, as well as increase their overall knowledge of Solar Systems. 
The Course will provide learners with an in-depth analysis of the most important components of solar surveying, whilst also providing the leaner with the opportunity to develop a robust surveying process & the confidence to apply these principles in the real world.
Each topic will be broken down into 3 main parts:

How to apply it on site whilst completing site assessments.
As the course has been designed by industry experts with over 1000 survey’s worth of experience, the course goes beyond just providing information on the day. Learners will be given a full, digital surveying process, as well as supporting documents to take away to refer back to when completing surveys.
Not only will you receive supporting documents to take away, attendees will also receive free access to Building Metrix ‘Knowledge Vault’, which contains documents & videos explaining key features & updates on changes with the solar industry, as well as providing surveys access to forums/chats to share ideas & have industry discussions with likeminded surveyors.

February 2025 - 1 Day Fundamentals of Solar PV & Storage Surveying Course (5 CPD Hours)

2025 is the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War – a conflict that defined the twentieth century and still has an influence on relationships and attitudes today.
In this course we welcome academics from institutions across the UK and abroad to contribute to a series of lectures and discussions on aspects of the Second World War. This is not a course about battles but rather about how people engaged with the conflict in different regions, exploring political motivations, cultural responses and social impacts and legacies.

The course also features two workshop sessions to discuss your learning with other course participants. All sessions will take place from 7.30-9.00pm.

This course is free to all HA members, and available for a small charge to non-members. Access to the course will be via the HA website once your booking is verified, you will be contacted via email once this is complete.
The introductory session will take place on 25 February.
