Learn to screen print using gold metal leaf with local artist and printmaker Lou Davis.In this advanced level screen printing workshop you will&nbsp;learn to coat, expose, print and clean silk screens. You&rsquo;ll have the opportunity to create a two-layer print with one colour layer, and one where we apply metal leaf to your design. Although no previous knowledge is assumed, you will get more from this workshop if you have attended one of our&nbsp;beginner or intermediate level screen printing workshops, or have&nbsp;previous experience of screen printing.You&rsquo;ll learn to create designs for screen printing;&nbsp;transfer your designs to a screen and print onto printmaking paper; and&nbsp;how to register your prints so they print in the same place every time. You&rsquo;ll make an edition of up to ten prints and choose your favourite to frame, ready for your wall or to give as a gift.It&rsquo;s a good idea to think about what you&rsquo;d like to print before the workshop. Please bring some ideas for artwork with you, which we&rsquo;ll draw by hand onto tracing paper during the first part of the workshop. It’s a good idea to think about what you’d like to print before the workshop. Please bring some ideas for artwork with you, which we’ll draw by hand onto tracing paper during the first part of the workshop. We will have inspiration on hand if you’re stuck!
It is possible to print from digital images but these must be prepared before the workshop, so if you’d like to take up this option, please contact us at least 7 days beforehand so we can properly advise you on what will print well. We will then print your ready prepared images onto screen printing acetate ready for the workshop. Digital images need to be printed in black so photos and line drawings can work well, but faint lines and subtle textures don’t transfer well. If you are sourcing imagery from the internet, please ensure you have the necessary rights to use it.

Based on feedback from those attending our beginners silver clay jewellery classes, tutor Anna Campbell has designed this bespoke&nbsp;intermediate level, full-day workshop to cover what people wanted to learn next: how to make silver clay boxes and beads.
On this intermediate level&nbsp;boxes and beads class you will make three pieces:
<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a shadow box pendant;</li>
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a Pandora-style silver wrapped bead; and</li>
<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a silver lentil bead</li>
</ul>
We will cover creating box pendants with flat or rounded sides, using moulds to make decorations, designing the front and back of a piece, making bails, as well as different types of unique silver beads.&nbsp;
You will torch fire all your pieces so they are completed, and ready to take home by the end of the workshop.
The class size is&nbsp;kept small to ensure you have plenty of supervised practice, and Anna&nbsp;will also share lots of hints and tips. By the end of the day, you should have the confidence and skill to start making silver boxes and beads from home.
This full-day intermediate workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended a&nbsp;beginner&rsquo;s silver clay taster&nbsp;or Introduction to silver clay jewellery making workshop, or who has previous experience of working with metal clay.
The introductory price&nbsp;of this workshop&nbsp;includes access to all the equipment you will need, plus&nbsp;all the materials necessary&nbsp;to complete the projects, including 15g of silver clay and a fireable gemstone&nbsp;worth over &pound;30.&nbsp;
You will also be sent full class notes with all the information you need to make pieces at home, including&nbsp;details of where to buy&nbsp;tools and materials.

What is silver metal clay?
Silver clay is a material manufactured from 100% recycled silver, a plant-based organic binder and water. The silver is recycled from X-rays, the photographic industry, electronics etc. It can be moulded and shaped like clay. Once dry, it can be fired and that is when the alchemy happens - the clay turns to solid hallmark quality silver. You don’t need a lot of tools and equipment to get started and all pieces made on this workshop can be fired with a crème brûlée torch.

We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. Suitable for beginners and those with more experience, in this workshop you will design and create your very own bespoke, slate garden mosaic with Jacky from Mossy Mosaic.Mosaic making fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Old slate can form the perfect base for a garden mosaic, hanging from the shed or balancing on a border. Bring new colour and interest into your garden with your very own bespoke design using vitreous glass, old china and sea washed glass!In this workshop you will use a reclaimed slate base to make a gorgeous mandala mosaic. You will be shown how to cut china and vitreous glass and you can also include sea washed glass and glass nuggets as part of your design. Private workshop bookings
Most of our workshops are also available to book for small private get-togethers; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; corporate team building and well-being purposes; and as in-store retail events. For larger groups, many of our workshops can be brought to a location of your choice.&nbsp;

On this fun, festive-themed class you will learn how to make your own organic, 'melt and pour' mini-soaps using an organic, vegan glycerine base.
Jenny from The Scottish Soapworks will share the benefits of the essential oils she uses in her tried and tested recipe, and show you how to make your own soap using a simple method, and affordable equipment.
All materials plus festive-themed refreshments are provided. You will take home all the soap shapes you make on the night which will make great wee gifts, stocking fillers and for first footing treats!

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a welcoming and supportive environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind and immerse yourself in being creative.
Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us. 
Our taster and introductory workshops focus on teaching creative skills and methods you can continue practising at home, using affordable materials and equipment. Where more expensive equipment is required we will mention this in the workshop description.
All the equipment and materials you need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise. 
Light refreshments from local suppliers are provided. On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out. There is also a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus a range of supermarkets all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Accessibility
The workshop space is on the first-floor of our Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Blue badge holders can park outside our front door on the single yellow line by arrangement.
Allergies
The workshop space is in our open plan living space and is not nut free. Please let us know about any skin or food allergies before booking. We offer a dairy-free milk and gluten free snack alternative.
Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. Make two fabulous festive soap and skincare gift sets on this one day workshop with The Scottish Soapworks in Edinburgh City Centre.
This is a one day, beginner-friendly organic glycerine soap making and cream blending workshop with a Christmas twist!
You will learn how to make two 100g soap bars, and blend 200g of Vitamin E-rich hand and body cream, using a specially selected tried-and-tested recipe featuring gorgeous festive-themed scents.
During the day, you will also learn about the properties of essential oils, and share tips and ideas for gift wrapping.
A selection of hot drinks - including mulled wine tea! - and mince pies will be served to get you in the mood. 
The day will end with a gift wrapping session around our festive craft table, with a selection of items to choose from.
Earth conscious credentials
We are mindful of the effect we have on the environment, and do our best to minimise our impact.
All ingredients, packaging and wraps used on this workshop are eco-friendly. Gift wrap items on the craft table may also include recycled and re-usable packaging options.
You will take all the lovely products you have created home with you on the day, and workshop correspondence and notes are sent to you electronically.
