CRITIQUE draws together scholars from across Schools and Colleges at University of Edinburgh in a dynamic hub for ethical and critical analysis of urgent social challenges such as climate change, economic exploitation, racial segregation, gender oppression, and political violence. Deeply committed to methodological pluralism, its members deploy a variety of methodological approaches to political and social theory, ranging from analytic philosophical methods to genealogy, from history of political thought to immanent critique, from feminist and critical race theoretical methodologies to legal analysis. Work produced at the Centre contributes to the excellent intellectual environment of the university and aims to intervene effectively in public debates. Thematically, we build on three interrelated and mutually sustaining pillars, around which we will stimulate interdisciplinary and experimental conversations: Ethics, Critique and Praxis.

Edinburgh Science Foundation is an educational charity, founded in 1989, which operates Edinburgh Science's Education and Festival programmes. We are best known for organising Edinburgh’s annual Science Festival – the world’s first public celebration of science and technology as a festival and still one of Europe’s largest – as well as our science education outreach programmes, Generation Science and Careers Hive and our community engagement work. Our mission is to inspire, encourage and challenge people of all ages and backgrounds to explore and understand the world around them. As leaders in our field of Science Communication, we work year-round to create and deliver dynamic hands-on workshops and exhibitions and inspirational shows, discussions, debates and performances that continually push the boundaries of public engagement with science. Communication and engagement is at the core of all our work and we strive to ensure that this is embedded in all aspects of our organisation. Festival Our 2022 Festival spanned 9–24 April and explored the theme of Revolutions – lifeforms, lifecycles, revolutionary ideas and solutions to global challenges. This year's Festival saw the return to our family hub at City Art Centre and two major new interactive exhibitions, DataSphere and Consumed, alongside a vibrant and varied programme of other events for audiences of all ages in collaboration with our network of amazing partners. Learning Our touring education programme Generation Science has been providing unique science experiences to schools across Scotland for 30 years. In light of COVID-19 restrictions, this year's programme was made up of pre-recorded workshops, loan kits and make-along boxes which were designed to get pupils out of their seats and involved. Secondary schools careers event Careers Hive was hosted this year on Gather, an interactive online digital platform. Over 2,400 students from over 30 Scottish schools took part in the event, which highlighted the opportunities available to those who study STEM subjects. Worldwide Edinburgh Science also operates a large-scale international programme of work under our Worldwide arm. It regularly presents events overseas and is currently the Major Programming Partner of the annual Abu Dhabi Science Festival, helping to curate, produce and deliver the event. For international partners, the team at Edinburgh Science provide engaging content, curatorial advice on programming and business planning support, along with expert staff and training for local science communicators. About Edinburgh School of English was founded in 1969 and has gained a reputation as one of the UK’s leading English language schools. Over the years, it has developed a variety of intensive English language courses to suit both adults and young learners. The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTC Scotland) was set up in 1965. It was created following calls from teachers for a body to ensure teacher standards and was one of the first teaching councils in the world. In 2012, it became the world’s first independent professional and regulatory body for teaching. GTC Scotland’s Council governs GTC Scotland and sets strategic policy. Council membership is set by law. The majority of Council are elected teachers or college lecturers. GTC Scotland sets the standards of professionalism with and for Scotland’s teachers and college lecturers. It is a legal requirement for all teachers working in Scottish schools to be registered with GTC Scotland. In 2018, there was a national agreement to register all lecturers working in Scotland’s colleges through GTC Scotland.

Established in 1985 by Director Tracy Hawkes, Dance For All amalgamated with the prestigious Theatre School of Dance in Stockbridge in 2000, where full-time dance training and classes were offered for nearly four decades, training a large majority of Scottish dancers, teachers and choreographers. Principal Director Tracy Hawkes RTS ARAD SDS IdB(1) is one of Scotland’s best known dance teachers who has performed and taught extensively in schools and companies in the UK and abroad, including Basic Space Dance Theatre, Napac Ballet and Durban City Ballet. Tracy is a registered teacher and associate of RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and the only Spanish Dance Society qualified teacher in Scotland. Promoting excellence and enjoyment in all forms of dance, she directs an inspirational faculty of dance tutors, comprised of many of the most respected and renowned dance professionals in the business today.

The Midlothian Council Learning Service is now closed. Thank you to all the Midlothian Education establishments for the amazing support and enthusiasm for supporting this approach to learning over the lifetime of the service. Over just the last 10 years alone a fantastic +24,500 pupils had an outdoor learning experience and 3600 staff received training with the service. The store function will remain open through 2018-19 to help support schools and practitioners who continue to use the outdoors as an approach to learning to deliver CfE experiences & outcomes and wider achievement awards. A range of equipment and resources are available to borrow/hire to support leaning activity. Get in touch with the stores for more information Training for Visit Leaders and Visit coordinators is also still available as are the SQA accredited First Aid Training courses. Initially we created training programmes that women could deliver to other women. These programmes were designed to develop self-esteem, confidence, peer relationships and support in classrooms. In talking to young women we found that the classroom was where a lot of the issues came from so we wanted to focus on building a relationship with schools and supporting the issues and inequalities that young women were facing in the classroom. We bring women together to support each other and believe that "if you can't see it, you can't be it". Having female role models is of huge significance to show other women what can be achievable. The services we offer include Circle Time, Mind Body and Soul and SHE Voices. We also recently hosted a popular event, "Embrace It Aw" to showcase the work we have been doing and we had guest speakers from inspirational female speakers which was really well received. Childcare Connections are a registered charity who provide high quality, affordable and inclusive out of school play care for school children.Childcare Connections is a not-for-profit charitable organisation and is the leading out of school childcare provider in the South Edinburgh areas of Gilmerton, Gracemount, The Inch and Moredun. The organisation was set up in April 2000 to address the shortage of quality after-school clubs in these areas. Over the years we have built up a first class reputation in providing flexible, quality, affordable out of school clubs that run during the term time from Craigour Park Primary, Gracemount Primary, St John Vianney Primary & Gilmerton Primary schools and holiday clubs providing inclusive childcare for local parents and carers, enabling them to take up or remain in employment, education and training. We operate a child-centred service where every child in our care, has the opportunity to enjoy a safe, caring, healthy and stimulating play environment. All of our after-school clubs are registered with the Care Inspectorate. All staff are SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) registered.

ECA has always been a place of experimentation and collaboration, celebrated for enabling students from different disciplines to work alongside and with each other, and for creating strong linkages with other institutions. We trace our history back to the Trustees’ Academy founded in the 1760s which, over the course of the next century, operated from some of the most iconic buildings in the city, including the University’s Old College and what is now the Royal Scottish Academy. The first Professorship in an ECA subject area was created for Music in 1839 in the name of John Reid, with the Watson Gordon Chair of Fine Art founded some forty years later, the first of its kind in the British Isles and a turning point in the teaching of the History of Art. Following the establishment of the Reid Concert series in 1841, which continues to this day, the Reid Concert Hall was built in 1859. We’ve been known as Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) since 1906, following a major reorganisation of higher art education in Scotland. At the time, we were governed by the city Council and divided into four Schools: Drawing and Painting, Design and Crafts, Architecture, and Sculpture. We moved into what is still our Main Building in 1909, when the first of our annual Revel parties took place and, by 1913, our Cast Collection had been installed in the Sculpture Court.
