The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh was founded in 1505 by Royal Charter granted from King James IV. From the discoveries of Simpson and Lister to modern day pioneers of medicine and dentistry who are developing simulation, VR, and robotics, the College has been a seat of learning and advancement for over 515 years. Hi, I’m Kathryn and I run antenatal courses and workshops along with baby and postnatal classes in Edinburgh. I teach weekly pregnancy classes and birth and baby workshops, which focus on combining antenatal education with birth hypnosis and breathing techniques, movement for pregnancy wellbeing and active birth and are a great time of the week to focus on you, your pregnancy and your baby. Weekly classes are a great way to help you enjoy a positive pregnancy and meet up with others local to you and at a similar stage in pregnancy as you prepare for your confident birth. I also teach Tinies and Wrigglers daisy baby classes which as well as offering baby massage, yoga and sensory play are all about coming together with other new parents to meet, chat and learn – navigating the journey into parenthood together. What I particularly love is seeing expectant parents meet at antenatal classes and continue with daisy baby classes until 10 to 12 months postpartum offering a real connection and community and seeing friendships grow. My classes are with you every step of the way, as are the community of daisy parents around you connected in class and online to always be there to support you. For everyone that is looking for evidence based information, delivered live and interactive (both online and in person) in a non judgemental space with other like minded new and expectant parents you are in the right place! As a local Mum of two I know just how much of a huge transition it can be becoming a new parent and I am passionate about supporting parental wellbeing and passionately believe in the value of peer support. We’ve all heard the saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and daisy is all about building your village! I trained with The Daisy Foundation in 2013 and have been teaching for daisy classes for over 7 years working with hundreds of parents and families from throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians. I am also a voluntary peer facilitator and lead Positive Birth Edinburgh, as well as being a trained Slingababy Baby Wearing Peer Supporter and a proud member of Edinburgh Birth and Baby. As a Golf Professional since 2011, Iain has accumulated an extensive wealth of knowledge, drawing from his background in sales, hospitality, and golf. Armed with degrees in Golf Studies and Leisure and Sports Management (BA), he brings a unique customer service perspective to the fore and is ceaselessly developing fresh ideas to drive progress as a Teaching Professional.  He has held esteemed positions as the Head PGA Professional at Baberton and Kingsknowe Golf Clubs and as an Assistant Professional at Murrayfield Golf Club, within the Edinburgh and Lothians area. During his formative years in Gloucestershire, Iain honed his skills, representing his county whilst playing off a handicap of +1.  Embracing the modern digital era, Iain has skilfully adapted to online coaching, offering golf lessons on the virtual stage. From the Edinburgh Hat Studio, award-winning Scottish milliner and hat maker Sally-Ann Provan creates bespoke handmade hats, headpieces, & bridal millinery for weddings (the bride, her family & guests), Royal Ascot, Henley Royal Regatta, investitures, Royal garden parties, special occasions, stage & screen. For every event and and everyday! Sally showed for two seasons at London Fashion Week in her own catwalk show, and her work and inspirations are featured in four books. She is also featured in the main film in the 'Fashion and Style' gallery at the National Museums of Scotland, and created a headpiece which was shown in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery as part of the stunning 'Beauty By Design' exhibition. She is a V&A Dundee Design Champion. Her hats have graced the heads several members of the Royal Family including HRH The Duchess of Cambridge; HRH Princess Beatrice; HRH Princess Eugenie; Zara Tindall; and Autumn Phillips, and other clients include First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins, and broadcasters Edith Bowman; Charlotte Hawkins and Francesca Cumani. She also creates headwear for opera, ballet, and theatre companies, television, and film. Each piece is designed and made with great attention to detail and finish. She is Scottish Opera's milliner making hats for over 30 of their productions, and other clients include The BBC, Scottish Ballet, The Royal Lyceum Theatre, and Netflix including a hat worn by leading lady Brooke Shields in 'A Castle for Christmas'. After her BA Hons degree in jewellery, Sally dallied a while in paper conservation and museum sculpture, before nurturing her passion for hats and accessories with comprehensive millinery training in London. Amongst others, she has trained under the late Queen Mother's milliner and with The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. She was one of 100 top British design business selected to exhibit at 'UK Now' in Australia, and also exhibited at the prestigious Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show.

This short course will help you take your images from the screen to final professional-quality prints. We will walk through the processes and techniques needed to take the mystery out of this often daunting and overlooked part of the creative process. By the end of the day you will have gained the skills and confidence to take digital files through preparation in Photoshop, optimisation, and onto physical test printing, adjustments and final output on Stills’ large format Epson inkjet printer. We’ll cover areas critical to the desired outcome including screen and print calibration, paper choice and ICC profile use. By the end of the day you will have two A3 prints on premium Hahnemule matt or gloss papers. Participants should have a basic understanding of Photoshop and attend with a selection of their own RAW files or high resolution TIFFs to work with through the practical exercises. Morning We will begin with evaluating our images and processing the file to maximise print quality output. We will then use Adobe Bridge, Adobe Camera Raw & Adobe Photoshop for the optimisation process. Participants will be guided in preparing their images ready for test printing, before evaluating and adjusting. Discussion will cover using ICC profiles, screen and print calibration, colour rendering, canvas sizing, and sharpening for final print output on various media. Afternoon We will then put the skills we have learned into practice, producing and evaluating test prints before undertaking our final A3 digital inkjet prints. Each participant will finish the session with two finished prints. There will be plenty of opportunity for participants to ask questions at every stage, so that you feel confident and can make informed decisions throughout the whole process. This course is designed for those who are already familiar with some digital photography processes but who want to pursue a particular aspect and develop skills in a specific genre. It is the perfect follow-on from our Digital SLR training courses and will support you in building upon your existing knowledge and allow you to work confidently on your own projects.   Courses are subject to minimum enrolment. Please register early, within five days of the start date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation.
