tine barkmann - open water swimming
I'm running open water swim sessions for everybody through most of the year.
While the summer months call for longer swims, working on your stroke and on
confidence in open water, the winter months give us a whole other sense of
achievement and buzz when swimming outside (you basically become a hero). Once I
had walked over that frozen beach, snowflakes in the air, there was no turning
back to being a summer swimmer 'only'. Having said that, swimming throughout the
year in Scotland is 'cold water swimming' most of the time anyway, as the water
temperature rarely climbs above 15 degrees, and therefore it is always
challenging and good fun!
