divergent brains
London
Divergent Brains is the culmination of our lived experiences as autistic
individuals, our subsequent frustration at being so deeply misunderstood, and
our desires to break down the societal barriers we’ve experienced so that others
need not be limited by them. No two autistic people are alike and yet
neurodiversity training so often focuses on one, generic portrayal of autistic
experience. This reliance on stereotypes reinforces dangerous misconceptions and
limits society’s understanding of what it actually means to be autistic. We take
a tailored approach and place our emphasis on authenticity and lived experience
as autistic people. We commit to delivering bespoke, practical solutions which
take the breadth of diversity in the autistic and wider neurodivergent community
into account. This community is at the centre of everything we do. We will never
claim to be experts in anyone’s lives but our own, and firmly believe that it is
not our place to speak for others; instead amplifying their voices and bringing
attention to under-represented parts of the community. We combine our personal
experiences with up-to-date, autistic-led research in order to share accurate,
meaningful information and offer practical advice to drive and support change
towards a more accessible and inclusive society.
