Facilitation Skills for Business Analysts: In-House Training This course is part of IIL's Business Analysis Certificate Program (BACP), a program designed to help prepare individuals pass the IIBA® Certification exam to become a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP™). Business analysts are communicators who bridge the gap between people with business needs and knowledge and the people who will provide solutions. Business analysts are continuously involved in communications with stakeholders and developers as they create the solution to business problems. They participate in information-gathering sessions including interviewing, joint requirements definition, and Joint Application Design (JAD) workshops which are used to streamline information gathering and get immediate validation from user representatives. The business analyst is also involved with negotiating the solution with the stakeholders, upper-level management, and the developers, mediating among the groups when disagreements take place, and influencing the results of decisions during the solution cycle. This course teaches the methods needed to organize and run information-gathering events. It combines the basics of graphic decision making and modeling with facilitation, communication, and meeting management skills. What you will Learn At the end of this program, you will be able to: Identify the major touch points between key BABOK® Guide knowledge areas and business analysis communication Describe the facilitation skills that are most supportive of those intersections Improve your ability to apply these skills in the context of your business analyst functions Foundation Concepts The role of the Business analyst (BA) An Introduction to the BABOK® Guide Business analyst roles and the product / project life cycle (PLC) Facilitation skills for the business analyst The BABOK® Guide and Communication An introduction to the communication process Addressing basic communications challenges Planning business analysis communication Communication and BABOK® Guide tasks Targeted Elicitation Techniques Synergy between communication and targeted elicitation techniques Preparing for elicitation Cornerstone targeted technique: interviews Other targeted elicitation techniques Related general communication skills Group Elicitation Techniques Synergy between requirements communication and group elicitation techniques Cornerstone group elicitation technique - requirements workshops Other group elicitation techniques Related general communication skills - meeting management best practices Related general communication skills - facilitating best practices Process / Model-Based Elicitation Techniques Synergy between requirements communication and process / model-based elicitation techniques Process / model-based elicitation techniques Related interpersonal skills - problem solving and decision making Investigative Elicitation Techniques Synergy between requirements communication and investigative elicitation techniques Cornerstone investigative elicitation technique - document analysis Other investigative elicitation techniques Summary of elicitation techniques by usage in the requirements process Using Presentations, Structured Walkthroughs, and Influencing Structured walkthroughs, presentations, and influencing within BABOK® Guide tasks Cornerstone technique - structured walkthroughs General communication skill - presenting Related interpersonal skill - influencing Special Facilitation Skills - Negotiating and Mediating Negotiating Mediating
About this training course This 3-days training will provide a comprehensive review of integrity of wells exposed to carbon dioxide (CO2) in the context of Carbon Capture Utilization for enhanced oil recovery and Storage (CCUS). CO2 geological storage is a proven technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from sources such as coal power plants, cement kilns and steel mills. Wells are widely considered the most critical containment element, especially older wells that are not used to inject CO2 or monitor the plume evolution in the storage reservoir. The main reason for this perceived risk is the high corrosion rate of carbon steel when exposed to wet CO2, and the tendency of Portland cement to react with the gas. The training course advanced contents build on 15 years' experience in carbon storage, both in the development and deployment of technologies. First-hand, in-depth knowledge of the subject will allow us to debunk myths and focus on the real challenges of wells encountering CO2. Training Objectives After the completion of this training course, participants will be able to: Explain the CCUS market drivers Examine the behavior of CO2, on surface and in the reservoir Diagnose cement defects and design repairs Understand the limits of Portland cement Assess the benefits of different technologies and materials Realize why geology is a dominant factor in cement performance Critically choose the most appropriate monitoring techniques Classify aging processes of cement, steel, and rock when exposed to CO2 Assess the risk of existing wells if they encounter the CO2 plume Examine recent advances in real-time approaches to the production monitoring and lift management Target Audience This training course is suitable and will greatly benefit: All surface technical personnel such as process engineers & technologists Facility engineers, production engineers & technologists Drilling engineers and Well engineers Design engineers and Integrity engineers P&A engineers and Cementing engineers Geologists Senior management executives will benefit from this training as covers an overview of the technical and commercial details of CO2 capture technologies and risks involved. Course Level Intermediate Training Methods The training instructor relies on a highly interactive training method to enhance the learning process. This method ensures that all participants gain a complete understanding of all the topics covered. About this Training Course In context of trade, seamless supply chains and dependence on international resources, world is becoming one single market. Even though because of internet and widespread access to legal resources, business managers tend to share the common legal principles, but unfortunately, the legal framework and national laws of different countries still maintain a certain degree of uniqueness and protectionism. Thus, the success of an international contract will depend on the 'know how' in identifying the differences in legal regimes, diversity of legislature, scoping, contract drafting, negotiation and execution competencies in each context. It is getting not only important but crucial to consider risks from remote and unforeseen events, sanctions, and proxy wars. As a contract gets bigger in monetary value and wider in scope, more attention is needed in drafting and interpreting terms and conditions of any contract before signing on the last page or accepting it online. This 2 full-day course endeavours to enable the participants gain an understanding of the essential ingredients of contracts and mastering the international contracting principles. This course will equip participants to identify vague and ambiguous clauses, avoid dangerous and often hidden terms, and better understand the controlling position in a project. The participants will learn from the Case Law Reports and analysis to take home lessons learned from bitter experiences of peers in the industry. It is designed to help those who need a solution to manage current contractual issues or those who execute international contracts regularly and want to be more proficient in managing their contracts and projects, with changing contexts. Training Objectives On completion of this course, the participants will have learnt: Project management strictly in accordance with the contract and the corporate strategies How to ensure that Variations Order claims are appropriately managed in turnkey and lump-sum contracts Manage contemporary challenges and market factors with direct or indirect impact on the contracts Managing all members of the Supply Chain from vendors to logistics services providers Cost Engineering and Performance Management How to manage Consortium Partners, Contractors and Owners representatives When and how to obtain / grant extension of time (EOT) and costs Ability to identify rights and obligations of each party to a contract instead of making subjective decisions Ability to be firm in negotiations without violating the terms of the agreements Ability to spot different legal systems, contract laws and arbitration rules Ability to negotiate and avoid disputes and resolution in an amicable manner, in accordance with the provisions of the contract Competency in developing and maintaining documentary evidence and traceability for all works executed during the project Target Audience This course is intended for professionals from the Oil & Gas Industry, Heavy Engineering & Construction Industries, Terminals, Shipping and Maritime Logistics Services Providers. This course is not to be missed by, especially those who are involved in Contract Management and with roles related to Contracts e.g. Commercial Managers, Engineers, Procurement Managers and Finance Managers, with a non-legal background and Para-legal executives.
