Motorvate UK is an educational training provider based in Coventry. We specialize in structured motor vehicle training courses and construction courses. Our learners come from schools city wide and are usually those students disengaged from education or on the verge of exclusion from school with very low academic achievements.We also work in collaboration with Right Step Careers providing education and support for 18-24 year old’s who are not in education, employment or training. We have successfully trained over 3500 young people in the Coventry area since we began in 2003. We continue to work in partnership with many great local organisations including: WM Police, Right Step Careers, Fire Service, The Pod, Coventry City Council, Connexions and Sensory Services for the deaf blind and those with special needs. Motorvate UK is a registered center with the following awarding bodies: ASDAN, ABC AWARDS, EDEXCEL, WJEC, BRITISH SAFETY COUNCIL, GCSE and AQA We offer high quality educational opportunities that have a proven track record of really engaging even the most hard to reach young people. On occasion, we are asked by prospective students about our background and how and where we started. To put things simply, students want to know more about us before they decide whether to select us as their distance learning provider. And who can blame them! The initial idea of setting up UK Open College was the brainchild of our director Bill Nicholls. After many years of working within an education and in particular the distance learning sector. Bill gained a thorough understanding of exactly what students were looking for when embarking on their home study journey. After years of speaking and dealing directly with distance learning students, it was soon established exactly what it was that students required. The main three factors were to offer the opportunity to study anywhere, anytime, offer true flexibility and to ensure any offering was affordable to the majority of students. After all, there is no point in providing all of this if it was then unaffordable. These three factors soon became the morals and ethics of the whole company.

Rather than just signing you up for tuition, we like to sit down with parents & students to learn more about them. What do you enjoy? What challenges you? Only by understanding these things can we help children develop an organised, efficient and effective learning mentality. Mentoring & advice We understand that making decisions about education and careers can be difficult and stressful. That’s why we’re always happy to offer students advice– especially those studying GCSE and A-Levels — to help them navigate subject and career options. Bespoke syllabus Like private schools, we have dedicated Subject Coordinators building our bespoke syllabus (fully aligned to the National Curriculum and major exam boards like AQA, OCR and Edexcel). This central control allows us to plan lessons for the entire year and cover everything students need to learn for exams. Assessment every 6 weeks After 5 weeks of learning a particular set of topics, students are tested on week 6 to assess how much they’ve learnt. The results show us where the student is successful, but also gives us an idea of where there is room for improvement so that we can reinforce those topics. Homework for every lesson Every student receives approximately 30 minutes worth of homework for each hour of tuition. We find it’s a good amount of work that will keep their brains stimulated outside of school & tuition, without being too stressful. Parent conferences Want regular updates about how your child is progressing? Every 12 weeks we organise a parent conference, allowing parents to catch up with tutors and ask any questions. Qualified & experienced tutors We only use UK qualified and experienced tutors that are either active/experienced school teachers, or industry professionals like trainee doctors, dentists and engineers that are currently working in their respective fields. Small classes Schools can overcrowd classrooms with 25-30 children at one go, making it difficult to give them individual attention. Our centre maintains an average of 6-8 students per class so that everyone gets the support they need to succeed.

Teaching has always been Lian’s passion. At the age of 18 Lian started teaching dance which developed into establishing her own highly successful dance school Learning Curves Dance which she ran for 20 years. Lian has had numerous highlights during her teaching career from choreographing team performances at London theatres including Her Majesty’s Theatre, Sadler’s Wells and The Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham performance venues such as the NEC and the Symphony Hall. She has also travelled with her students overseas to Europe and Asia performing at Disneyland Paris and Beijing Theatre, China. Lian has trained over 500 students for team performances, prepared over 3000 students for 32 IDTA examination sessions and received Freestyle Scholarship Awards nominations for 5 professional candidates and 18 amateur students. She has judged at numerous ADFP Freestyle Dance Competitions, including the prestigious international Disco Kid Competition at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Lian was honoured to lecture for the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association), hosting amateur and professional workshops. She has produced, directed and choreographed over 16 theatre shows, raised over £10,000 for charity, formed the successful Performing Arts Project with sister school StarStruck Performing Arts Academy, taught GCSE dance at Arden School, cultivated successful relationships and taught classes in over 16 Primary and Secondary Schools in Solihull and Warwickshire and launched a second Dance School in Southam, Warwickshire. After further professional development and with a keen interest in anatomy and physiology, Lian qualified to train candidates to professional teacher level. To date she has trained 26 individuals to professional dance teacher status, 5 of whom have received IDTA Scholarship nominations and 1 student who has gained the 2020 John Dilworth Scholarship in the Freestyle category. Now Lian has added yoga to her long list of qualifications and is a Yoga Alliance Professional 250 hour qualified Teacher. Lian enjoys teaching Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga. Lian successfully teaches online and face to face classes. Yoga and dance complement each other beautifully and through her training Lian can bring elements of each discipline to enhance her teaching.
