About the Academy Our academy was established in Great Britain in 2012, its founder is a professional photographer, documentary filmmaker and graphic designer Mariusz Śmiejek, who published his photos in magazines around the world, winner of many awards, including the National Geographic magazine award for the best photojournalism. With a great passion for sharing knowledge, and a lot of experience in conducting workshops outdoors and in the studio, we offer intensive weekend photography workshops and courses for beginners, intermediate users of digital cameras. We also run several-day workshops for advanced photographers who are thinking about the next steps towards professional photography and for enthusiasts who want to learn how professionals work, listen to their tips and learn their secrets. We provide a wonderful, cordial atmosphere in an intimate group of positively "freaky" photography enthusiasts, which usually results in long acquaintances. Our workshops are prepared in such a way that in small groups and in a nice atmosphere, each participant has the best opportunity to learn the secrets of photography. The program is prepared in such a way that you can learn to use various photography and post-production techniques on your own photos under the guidance of award-winning and appreciated professionals with experience in Poland and abroad. We deliver the University's community learning programme, which offers a range of opportunities for adult learners to enhance their skills and broaden their knowledge in a range of subject areas. From languages to creative writing and from archaeology to quantum computing you can choose from a diverse range of courses which run throughout our academic year (October to July). Our courses normally run on a weekly basis during the evenings and can be from 6 to 30 weeks in length. In addition to our evening courses we also run a series of themed Study Days. These events generally take place on Saturdays or Sundays and consist of a half or full day of academic lectures delivered by staff or postgraduate students. Our Dawlish campus is situated in the coastal town of Dawlish near Exeter. Our newest campus, Oakwood Yate, is located in Yate, South Glos. with excellent transport links to Bristol and beyond. Our business was founded in July 2011 and offers skills based training to gain on site experience increasing knowledge to progress into industry, regenerating some of the 380,000 empty spaces and empty shops across the United Kingdom. Our business offers industry placements, mentoring, advice and guidance. Up skilling the next generation of young people to help close the increasing skills gap. Our team offers a number of opportunities through industry placements on our TV programme Transforming Spaces‘ Design Factor’ featured on BBC. Since launch 8,500 young people directly up skilled of which 70% have progressed onto training, employment or Starting Up. Our construction sites are 50/50 gender split and our teams have re-generated 16 empty spaces, empty homes, heritage buildings and worked on Wales largest road scheme a £400 million programme. REAL ISSUES * Nearly 1 million young people unemployed * Over 380,000 empty spaces & empty shops in the UK * 
Over 220 million tons of waste generated for Landfill * Only 3% of women in manual trades, 5% in engineering and only 2% of female owned businesses in Wales Transforming Spaces: Design Factor Our construction projects transforms empty and unused spaces through working with the community on the planning, design and build. Working with build experts and volunteers from the community it acts like DIY SOS/60 minute makeover. The aim is to up skill young people and members of the community to gain on site experience. If you have an empty space or empty building our team will work with you on the planning, design and rebuild of the space to turn it into a thriving community provision. Training on the site includes: planning, construction, managing budgets, Marketing, enterprise, business and managing the whole project. Our team and the experts will work on site for around one week to re-build the space and encourage volunteers to become involved and progress into training, employment or Starting Up. Helping people to gain vital industry experience to progress their career. The whole process is filmed and broadcast. Our build projects have included Wales First Garden City Café, The Hope Centre-Newport, Blaenau Gwent Community Hub-Waundeg, Empty Shops Project-Cardiff & Newport, State of the Art Cinema Room using Recycled Pallets- Cwmbran Centre for Young People, Penygraig Empty Shop, Newport Heritage Building. Since graduating from her undergraduate degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Bethany has spent 10 years performing professionally on stages throughout the UK and Europe. Bethany also studied at the Royal Academy of Music for her Masters alongside being accredited a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in Singing Teaching. Whilst a student at the Guildhall, Bethany performed in various concerts at prestigious venues such as the Barbican, Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall and began recording as a soloist and ensemble member with Delphian Records.. Since graduating from her Masters, Bethany has performed professionally with companies such as Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Scottish Opera, D'oyly Carte, Norwegian National Opera, Iford Arts, English National Opera Works, Grange Park Opera, Opera Holland Park and Wexford Festival Opera. Bethany has spent most of her career singing classical repertoire, opera and crossover musical theatre. She has been lucky enough to have travelled to New York, Norway, Italy, Dubai, Austria, Prague, Germany and France with her performing and coaching work. Bethany has a portfolio career and when she is not performing onstage, she records sung voiceovers, teaches voice and holds a vocal massage practice. She is a fully insured member of Musicians Union. Bethany is based in Olney, Milton Keynes, UK and is a singing tutor at Emil Dale Academy. Bethany holds a small in person private practice at Olney Music School alongside teaching online. Since the covid pandemic Bethany has been able to reach new clients through her informative social media reels on vocal massage and vocal technique. Core modules on Graduate School degrees use themed seminars led by subject experts from across the University. In the end of degree project students explore a topic in depth. The project can also be interdisciplinary in scope and may have an applied character.
