I'm a choir leader, composer and singer based in Bristol, UK. Having performed as a singer-songwriter  [https://rosiesingssomesongs.bandcamp.com/]for over 20 years, I understand the power of music to connect people and evoke emotion. I pour the same passion into my work as a choir leader and, more recently, as a composer for choirs.  I run workshops in Bristol and all over the UK. I'm very excited to be running a brand new series of 2024 workshops which I've named 'Saturday Sings'. In each of these workshops, I will share the teaching with a fantastic guest composer, and we will take it in turns to sing our own SATB choir songs. The composers joining me are, in date order, Helen Chadwick, Katy Rose Bennett, Anna Tabbush, Emily Roblyn, Ben See and Helen Yeomans.  I love hearing my music come to life through the voices of others. As a member of the Natural Voice Network [https://www.naturalvoice.net/our-members/member-profile/?profile=427], I welcome every voice to my choirs and workshops. I teach by ear, and there is no need for prior experience or to read music. As a composer I love to create accessible, harmonically satisfying and inspiring songs that bring people together and lift their spirits. I look forward to singing with you in 2024!

ABOUT LEARN REIKI: Anna Rose has been teaching Reiki in Bristol since 2005, and has taught many hundreds of people on her unique transformational 12-week Reiki courses at St Paul’s Learning Centre in the heart of Bristol. For 7 years Anna taught these life-changing Reiki courses for Bristol Council’s Adult Learning Service, helping people on low incomes who faced physical, mental or emotional health challenges. Always described by students as a gifted and inspirational teacher, she gained a huge reputation in Bristol for her exceptional Reiki courses. When Council budget cuts forced the closure of local community classes, Anna’s students begged her to go on teaching so they could finish their courses. She agreed, and LEARN REIKI was born, as Anna continued to teach her Reiki courses at St Paul’s Learning Centre. Anna’s courses were usually oversubscribed by word of mouth recommendation, as people travelled from all over the city and further to join. Friends and family noticed the life affirming changes in our students, and hearing the secret of their transformation naturally wanted to learn this amazing skill for themselves. Anna’s policy is never to turn away anyone who wants to learn Reiki, because she knows people are only brought to Reiki when the time is right. So she had to run additional classes each term to meet the demand. In 2018 she decided the answer was to train other people to teach her transformational Reiki courses, so she began training Reiki Masters in the Anna Rose Reiki School. Today we have a thriving Reiki School with professional experienced teachers trained by Anna to teach her Reiki Level 1 & 2 courses just as she teaches them, using exactly the same techniques, resources and materials. All our teachers have spent over 2 years training to teach Anna’s unique 12-week Reiki programs, and learnt Reiki with us as students themselves. Now Anna personally trains our most advanced Level 3 students on the 1-year Reiki Master Chakra Course, supervises the training and development of our excellent teachers, and runs the Reiki School. Her passionate love of Reiki and dedication to transforming lives is evident in all our courses, and carried on today by the passion and dedication of our teachers.

Control Shift celebrates computational arts that explore the messy spaces in-between humans, nature and machines. We bring people together to re-imagine our relationships with technology through dialogue and arts. We live in a world where machines increasingly collect information about us, reducing our bodies and the things around us to streams of data. In turn the digital realm can feel abstract, and out of our control. The stuff of computers and digital infrastructure is often hidden out of sight and huge power imbalances exist around who is making technology and who benefits from it. Yet the impact of our interactions with machines and technologies are very much rooted in the body, materials, and emotions. Through workshops, discussions, installations and screenings Control Shift brings creative and critical approaches to technology. Control Shift 2020 was curated by Becca Rose, Martha King and Rod Dickinson, and you can visit the archive to find out more about the programme. In 2019 we produced ‘You Make the Rules’ which was part of Processing Community Day (a global celebration of ‘art, code and diversity’ initiated by the Processing Foundation). Control Shift Community The Control Shift network is a collective of digital artists, educators, producers, and technologists from Bristol (UK) and working internationally. BFS has a number of STAFF and VOLUNTEERS who assist in running our forest school sessions, planning activities and preparing resources. All BFS staff who lead sessions alone are fully Forest School qualified, DBS checked, First Aid trained and they hold Public Liability Insurance. They include… ANDY WILSON founded Bristol Forest School in 2004. He trained with the original Forest School cohort from Bridgwater College, and has a wealth of experience from 18 years forest school teaching. Andy runs regular Forest School sessions and parties at both the BFS woodland and in schools throughout Bristol. He also runs Forest School staff training. As Woodland Manager, Andy has successfully transformed the BFS site into a beautiful and accessible educational space; he monitors our ecological footprint through an environmentally sustainable attitude to Our Woodland. SOPHIE BUTLER joined Andy in 2011 and together they expanded Bristol Forest School. She is a trained Early Years teacher and qualified as a Level Three Forest School Leader in 2012. Sophie’s passion for nature and sustainability has grown over the years since living off-grid in an eco village in Hawaii. Sophie established the BFS Pre-Schools, the Saturday Club Minis and Adventurers. She now supports the running of these groups and is responsible for BFS’s policies, website and social media. HANNAH BUSHELL joined the BFS staff team in 2015 following a dedicated volunteering stint and completing her Level Three Forest School. Hannah is an experienced primary school teacher who works part-time in a Steiner Kindergarten as well as undertaking the nature connection course ‘Call of the Wild’. LUCY ROSE HARRIS is a qualified primary school teacher with six years teaching experience. Lucy gained her Forest School Level 3 Award in 2014 and is passionate about promoting outdoor learning opportunities, a love of nature and fun adventures for children. Lucy joined Bristol Forest School in 2017 and, following some maternity time with baby Luna, she is now back in our Pre-School team. LOUISE SPELLWARD is a qualified Horticulturalist and garden designer with a background in Environmental Conservation. Her first experience of Bristol Forest School was as a parent attending with her son; not wanting to miss out on the fun, she decided to train in Forest School herself and completed her Level 3. In 2019 Lou took on the Bristol Forest School Pre-School. Veronika enjoys sharing her passion for nature and animals and can often be found in her allotment digging or watching the bees! Veronika became a qualified Forest School leader in 2018; she started volunteering with Bristol Forest School in 2020 and now runs schools sessions and BFS parties. BESS SPENCER worked as an ‘Access to Nature’ play-worker in inner city London and trained as a Forest School leader in 2018. She now practices and teaches co-counselling and nature-facilitation activities using Tom Brown’s Apache derived techniques. At Bristol Forest School, Bess assists with our school sessions. MELISSA GAULT is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader and is currently studying to become an Early Years educator. She loves getting out into nature as much as possible! Melissa has been supporting Bristol Forest School since January 2018. She began as a volunteer for the Saturday Minis and is now a fully fledged member of the Pre-School team. MILLY BAILEY has an environmental background – she moved from working in an office as an environmental consultant, to the forest – which she much prefers. Milly has a passion for connecting herself and others to the natural world: she is a keen hiker, forager and wild swimmer. Milly started volunteering with Bristol Forest School in 2019 and now works as part of the Pre-School team.
