We are a Community Interest Company and we work across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES, North Somerset and Wiltshire. We work with children and young people aged between 6 and 25, identifying where the gaps in support exist. We work collaboratively with children, young people, families, professional agencies, Local Authorities, Schools, Voluntary Sector Organisations and charitable trusts/foundations to ensure that we meet the needs of our communities’ most vulnerable children and young people. Building on the strengths, abilities and talents of children and young people, our specialist team ensures that no child or young person is left without help, and that children and young people are encouraged and supported to develop their own resilience, skills to overcome any barriers that prevent them from engaging with their education, their families and in their community. Learning Partnership West (LPW) exists to inspire future aspiration and ensure that no child or young person is left without help. Through play work, youth work and the provision of alternative education our relentless care and personalised approaches are underpinned by trauma-recovery. ALHA (Avon Local History & Archaeology) is an umbrella group, aiming to encourage and coordinate activities of the various local history, archaeological and heritage groups that lie within the Avon area. Our area is the former County of Avon, now the council areas of Bath & North-East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire in the West of England. There are some eighty societies in ALHA, with a collective membership of about 10,000. Some are region-wide but with special interests like the Bristol & Avon Family History Society; while many are parish- or district-based. They are listed on our Groups page. We also have links with local institutions, such as Record Offices, Libraries, Museums and Universities. We are managed by an elected Executive Committee meeting once a quarter, and operate through a small number of voluntary officers. Membership of ALHA is open to both groups or other institutions, and to individuals. Group members receive a free copy of the Speakers List and all members receive a copy of the Newsletter. I was offered a place by my teacher Naomi Hayama on a yoga foundation course, and from there I went on to study at Bristol City Yoga with Laura Gilmore. Now Yoga has built a Yoga Community in the South West of Bristol & North Somerset. We are on line via zoom and at Failand village Hall weekly. We are a small studio offering a creative mix of practices through Yoga & wellbeing.

Here you will find Lisa’s Taste of the West, Gold Award winning products. It was whilst cooking a dinner for HM Queen Elizabeth back in 2005 that the idea of starting a chocolate school was born! South West Music School is a charity working with talented young instrumentalists, singers and composers aged 8 – 19 years in the South West of England. Due to the geographical nature of the South West, we are not building based but are a ‘virtual’ school working with young people on an individual basis in their local area. In addition, our students come together on a regular basis to collaborate, create, learn new skills and perform together. South West Music School is part of a national network of Centres of Advanced Training supported by the Department for Education Music and Dance Scheme for exceptionally talented young musicians. Funding provided by the DfE can ensure that each student has adequate resources to undertake involvement with SWMS and that all costs are met according to need (there is an optional section within our application form to help us determine your grant eligibility). South West Music School (SWMS) provides students with the same standard of music education as specialist music schools and junior conservatoires. The additional benefit of SWMS is that it allows students to stay in their existing education and continue to take part in other current musical (and non-musical) activities in their local communities. South West Music School covers each county in the South West region: Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, BaNES and Wiltshire. How much does it cost? The cost of a place at SWMS depends on the specific programme and tailored package of activities provided for each student. We work with families to ensure we place students on the right programme and with the right level of support for ability level, age, musical interest, and budget. SWMS students have access to means-tested grants from the Department of Education’s Music & Dance Scheme. A full grant will cover the entire costs of a place with South West Music School, as well as providing additional financial support for activities such as instrumental tuition. Moorland Road Community Library was set up to manage and run the library in response to hearing that Council funding for the library would cease in March 2019. To prevent closure of this facility in our community, it will be run by the community for the community. We are all volunteer local residents. We believe that our library is a vital resource for our community, providing a community meeting space with the opportunity to continue to borrow books for free. We love the ‘click and collect’ services offered by the Bath and North East Somerset library service to its members. This means all existing library card holders can choose from the 2.5 million books currently held across the libraries of the south west, reserve them to arrive and be collected from Moorland Road Community Library. Of course library card holders can also choose from the books held on the shelves. We have created a new organisation and have gained registered charity status. We are independent of any other organisation.
