your shift
Chippenham
My own shift was a long time coming. My problem was I enjoyed my job but
struggled to get my energy and delivery of a big role in a marketing agency in
good balance. I longed for the ability to focus on those things I was great at –
and be honest with myself about those things others were better placed to do.
Within this, developing as a leader took time – and with the help of coaching I
was able to sort through my areas of strength and weakness so that I could lead
my team in a way that was right for me. I learnt that there’s no off-the-shelf
way to lead, you have to uncover it yourself - and I realised doing this was a
missing step for many people and businesses. For me, the impact of doing this
meant I discovered my motivations and drivers and what it was that I brought to
the role and business that no one else could. I was able to package this up and
implement my own style. I developed a conviction I hadn’t previously had, and
was able to live a new, more confident style. It took time. It took energy. But
I was proud of the shift and the impact it had. Over time, this led me to become
fascinated by how I could help other people define their goals and make those
shifts important to them.
