My training as an integrative councellor has expanded across 15 years and I have a Professional Accredited Membership with NCS (National Counselling Society.) Through my therapeutic approach, I often work with people struggling with poor mental health due to anxiety, depression, and racial trauma. My main area of work is supporting adult men from disadvantaged and underrepresented communities. I empower my clients and provide them with a safe space to let them project any arising issues they may have whilst also letting them learn how to support themselves as individuals. The counselling approaches I utilise in my practice are person-centered, solution-focused, and via Behaviour Activation which incorporates using a thought diary and signposting to well-being recovery colleges.

Unfortunately, these techniques and tips are not widely known. Hello! I'm Angie and I'm the Director of AE Dance + Fitness. Since 2017, I've been teaching and building dance classes across Bristol to get as many people FEELING GOOD as possible through movement. What started as 2 Lyrical Contemporary classes at Hamilton House on a Friday night quickly grew to a Bristol's most energising and welcoming dance community! We offer a huge range of classes from Ballet Barre Fitness to Commercial Latin, all taught by Bristol's loveliest, most supportive, most INSANELY talented dance teachers! And in January 2022 we decided to take that feel-good energy of our adult dance classes and channeled it into classes for kids to! Whether you're brand new to dance classes or have been movin' & groovin' since you were 4, our goal is always the same. We want to make good people feel great so that can do amazing things! The Keyford Dancing School is now in its 48th year under the ownership of Patricia Veale, previously known under the name of Keyford Ballet School and owned by Carol Iles. The name is derived from KEYnsham and SaltFORD where the classes are held. Since 1973 thousands of boys and girls have enjoyed classes in ballet, tap, modern and jazz. Many past pupils are now bringing their children to the classes and some continue to dance themselves in adult ballet and tap classes. Boys and girls have in the past few years been able to take part in the Opera & Ballet International in their productions at the Bristol Hippodrome and the Theatre Royal Bath. Hundreds of children have also appeared in the Fry Club Pantomimes and other local productions including the school’s own shows at Broadlands School in which all pupils take part. Pupils have also appeared at Her Majesty Theatre London and in 2016 appeared at Disneyland Paris. The Keyford dancing School is also very active in Charity Fund raising and supports Children in Need and The Breast Cancer Campaign. A number of past pupils have continued into full time dance education and have become both teachers and performers. Patricia’s daughter Janine now runs the Avon Dance Academy and Chew Valley Dancing School after having danced abroad, and is now more involved in the Keyford Dancing School and jointly the three schools are able to offer a wide range of classes and workshops and performing opportunities.

Kate feels extremely privileged to have worked with her hands for much of her adult life making sculpture and working stone. It has suited her practical and creative nature and has offered her the opportunity to design and make sculpture of every scale for both public spaces and private homes. She particularly enjoys site specific projects and draws inspiration from the people and environment connected to the place where sculpture will be placed. Kate says “you have to look sideways at a subject, see it with fresh eyes to bring originality and life into a sculpture, I try to create a dialogue between myself as the artist, the material and the place.” Kate has taken this idea further by creating Elysium Memorials where she collaborates with other artists to design and make artworks as unique memorials for the home and garden as an alternative to a headstone. Each one is a reflection of a life in the form of an artwork that can be kept and handed down through a family. The teaching of stone carving and sculpture brings her great pleasure too, helping people to develop their skills and watching the pleasure they gain from working stone. Kate says “I try to adjust my teaching to the student’s needs, it’s incredible what beginners can achieve if guided well. Michelle, A.I.S.T.D. , M.B.T.D.A. , Reg RAD Member, began teaching Adult Jazz Dancing in Portishead in 1989. In 1995 the children of the adults wanted a class of their own. Numbers grew rapidly. Michelle also taught for the Bristol School of Dancing (where she trained) from 1986 until February 2014 when the branch was handed over to Michelle. In the Summer of 2014, a super sparkly 25th Anniversary show was staged to celebrate. In June 2016 Michelle was contacted by the BBC to be filmed dancing for the TV programme Street Auction – A fabulous day. MBDS likes to stay in the heart of the community. The children enjoy performing in various events ie carnival, flashmobs,displays etc. MBDS has been involved in the BBC CIN Tapathon for the last 4 years. The school also has 100% exam pass rate. This year the school renamed itself from Jazz on Tap Dance Company to Michelle Bedford Dance Studios. We are a fully ‘inclusive’ school and warmly welcome pupils regardless!
