Bristol Insight Meditation (often referred to simply as Bristol Insight) was set up in 2003. Since then we have grown organically into a peer-led registered charity – we are now a network of over 400 people involved in a wide range of organised activities. As well as Insight meditation, some of us have practice backgrounds in traditions such as Quakerism or Tibetan and Zen Buddhism. Our approach emphasises inquiry, experiential exploration and mindfulness amongst many other influences. It is not important to hold particular beliefs or to consider yourself a Buddhist to attend our events, all are welcome. What we do have in common is an interest in our own personal development as part of a supportive community.

Moorland Road Community Library was set up to manage and run the library in response to hearing that Council funding for the library would cease in March 2019. To prevent closure of this facility in our community, it will be run by the community for the community. We are all volunteer local residents. We believe that our library is a vital resource for our community, providing a community meeting space with the opportunity to continue to borrow books for free. We love the ‘click and collect’ services offered by the Bath and North East Somerset library service to its members. This means all existing library card holders can choose from the 2.5 million books currently held across the libraries of the south west, reserve them to arrive and be collected from Moorland Road Community Library. Of course library card holders can also choose from the books held on the shelves. We have created a new organisation and have gained registered charity status. We are independent of any other organisation.

Hi, I'm Steve Collis - Outdoor enthusiast and Director / Owner of Upper Limits UK. I love to be out of my comfort zone. I have always loved it. Whether I was skydiving, rock climbing or learning a new skill, I have always wanted to live my life to the fullest. For me, discovering my strengths took time but once I let go of fear, I realised that there was no limit. My first step was joining the Army at 16, where I learned the tools that I now live my life by. Since joining the Armed Forces and becoming a Junior Leader, I have surrounded myself with people that I admire; people that inspire; people that have something to teach and from whom I can learn. I know that learning a new way of doing things is a challenge but with the right set of skills and abilities, anything and everything is possible. I believe my purpose is to become the fullest expression of myself and to help others do the same.

House of Imagination provides a range of spaces for children and young people to collaborate with creative professionals -it is a home for improvisation, creativity and innovation and a place to make those things visible to an international audience through research. House of Imagination (HOI) is a research organisation with a focus on children’s and young people’s creative and critical thinking. In practice HOI uses action research to plan and deliver innovative programmes that enable children to shape their lives through creative activity and schools to change their practices through professional development and school-based activity. At its heart is co-enquiry between children, teachers and creative professionals. HOI is driven by a desire for change in both children’s lives and in schools, focusing on an exploration of the possibilities that creativity offers. Children need more opportunities to develop their creativity and to experiment and teachers need more support to integrate these skills. Through research and dissemination HOI provides evidence for change and helps to build a strong cultural ecology that in turn supports children, schools and creative professionals.

Mutleys offers dog training classes to puppies and older dogs, as well as one to one training for puppies and dogs. Mutleys uses gentle positive training techniques and reward based training to ensure that your dog learns in a fun and positive environment. Mutleys concentrates on puppy socialisation, getting a good start in life for all pups and educating owners to better understand the way the dog learns. We run puppy socialisation and training classes with guidance on common puppy problems. This is the most important time in a dog's life and it is important that the owner has guidance and understands how to train and communicate with their dogs to prevent problems from occurring. We also work with older dogs that may just be joining you and need to start their training a little later in life, or dogs that missed out on puppy classes and are now requiring a bit of help, we can discuss their needs and get them into the correct level of training. The most important part of the training is for the owner to understand the reasons behind the techniques used and realise why and how they work. The trainers are willing to discuss individual training or behavioural problems and look at these with the group or individually. The trainer will also assist with puppy socialisation and the prevention of problem behaviour occurring in the first place to make your dog much more fun to live with. As well as group training sessions, one to one training can be organised for basic training and early puppy advice and training, using positive reward based methods. You will be living with your dog for many years and it is important that you have a good bond and relationship with your dog. We can help you to teach your dog how to behave so you are not frustrated and cross with them and they know what is expected so you can all live comfortably and happily together! Mutleys offers a variety of Association or Pet Dog Trainer (APDT) Good Companion Awards - Puppy, foundation, Progress and Jubilee, just ask for details. Zion is a Community Hub in Bedminster Down, where everyone is welcome. We provide a warm safe space for community groups to run, our cafe is open 9-5pm every weekday and we put on an array of affordable events. Although originally a church, Zion was bought in 2011 by Jess Wright, who lovingly crafted Zion into an essential and well loved hub in Bedminster Down. In the Summer of 2022, members of the community, local businesses and grant organisations came together to purchase Zion as a community share offer! Once a focus for the local community of Bedminster Down, this historic chapel had been left derelict after the congregation could no longer afford to sustain it. Jess wanted to breathe life back into this beautiful building, a real landmark in BS13. She also wanted to create a much-needed community centre in a residential area with few social or cultural venues. She wanted a place where people of all ages and backgrounds (especially those who were isolated or excluded) could meet to improve wellbeing on a personal and community level. Using a small start-up budget of £5,000 (her own money), Jess began renovating the building. Thanks to the support of a small team of volunteers, Zion opened its doors to the community once again; this time as a small-scale café serving coffee and cakes, and offering a few extras such as film nights and kids’ creative sessions. Over the past 11 years, Zion Community Art Space has become ever more popular. It attracts 15,000 people a year and is now open at least five days a week, offering: a daytime community café that serves freshly made food at an affordable price a broad programme of over 200 events and activities a year, ranging from quiz nights and children’s workshops, to live music, theatre, talks and food events regular daytime drop-in groups such as a Memories Café, Creative Writing Group, Local History Group and Breast-Feeding Support an indoor and outdoor private hire venue for weddings, parties and other celebrations
