The Moving &Handling Course is a full day course to ensure that care workers are competent and confident to carry out their duties to the standards expected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) when Moving & Handling People. The course is a mixture of theory and practical elements, using various forms of equipment used in the community.
Training Aim:
To equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively move and handle individuals, minimising the risk of injury to both the care giver and the person being moved, whilst promoting dignity and comfort for the individual.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the session, learners will be able to:
Discuss the legal responsibilities, procedures and duty of care when moving and handling individuals
Demonstrate abilities when using equipment in line with individual handling plans
Explain and understand biomechanical principles
Discuss and demonstrate safer moving and handling principles and techniques
Identify and demonstrate the safe use of moving and handling equipment
Demonstrate abilities to risk assess and carry out POSRA
Recognise unsafe practice and the implementing of safer practices

Please can learners ensure they wear trousers and a full shoe. Learners need to be physically fit and well to undertake the activities for Moving & Handling of People.
