Who : Creative Catalyst (Scotland) CIC is a social enterprise which supports young people into Creative Careers. After establishing and running a similar two year pilot project for young creatives as part of the lead up to Perth Creative Exchange and The Famous Grouse Ideas Centre opening , founding director Helen O’Brien decided to take the model of this project forward as a social enterprise. In September 2019 we successfully received ‘Start It’ funding from Firstport, and moved into our new studio at Perth Creative Exchange in November 2019. We have just received Firstport ‘Build It’ funding to support and embed our development in 2021-22. We offer creative employability opportunities for young people who face barriers to employment and training in Perth & Kinross. This project is specifically targeted at young creative individuals who need support to develop their confidence in their creative skills and abilities, and signpost to other opportunities and experiences that will support them with next steps of a creative career. We work alongside other 16+ support agencies in Perth & Kinross who refer young people to us, and we welcome individuals and support workers to contact us directly. How: We offer work experience and mentoring opportunities with professional artists and makers who run live creative projects for us, from design and prototyping an idea, to making a final product, marketing and selling; visit shop here. These projects develop a broad spectrum of practical creative and transferable skills including using imagination, problem solving, clear communication, persistence, self discipline, collaboration and working to a deadline. We also run creative workshops and programmes for children, families and communities which offer opportunities for our young people to work alongside a lead artist to gain confidence and experience of delivering projects with different age groups.

Maureen Crosbie started Gallus Glass in 1999. She is a graduate of Glasgow school of art, originally studied Drawing and Painting but now works almost exclusively in glass. “I am influenced by history of Scotland, it's dominating natural history and landscapes, and by the tradition of historical stained glass work. I translating these into my own contemporary style. I have also recently become interested in the potential of painted and fused glass with the inclusion of found objects. I love the concept of freezing a moment in time, holding that thought and capturing the evidence of existence.” Maureen makes large stained glass windows on commission for private and public clients, but also sells smaller free hanging pieces priced to suit all pockets. "The glass has a huge range of possibilities of colour, intensity and texture and this can often dictate the design.” Maureen has recently made Gallus Glass her main focus. Having given up her art teachers job her daily commute is to her bespoke studio. "Making magic at the bottom of the garden."

I am now based approximately 40 miles south of Glasgow in the beautiful countryside of the Southern Uplands. I have experienced much in my lifetime. A corporate career of 36 years from trolley assistant in a supermarket to a board level appointment with EMEA responsibility for a Fortune 500 organisation to a complete career change in my mid-fifties and finding my purpose in life through my coaching business. That journey brought two marriages and divorces, multiple redundancies, a Masters degree at the age of 40, and the opportunity to live and work in 3 European Countries. The highs and lows of the road I’ve travelled have taken me from the darkest places of struggle and challenge to a life of fulfilment and big dreams I am still going to manifest. I am hungry to understand how what makes us do what we do in living this gift we have of LIFE. I have learned over these years, that life happens for you and not to you. My passion is helping people like you who are looking to live their best possible life. A life without limits, and unlimited possibilities. A life where you remove the limits find fulfilment in their life. A life of growth and contribution. If you are into details and numbers, my experience comes from a lifetime of growth, learning, mistakes, and a 36-year corporate management career.
