I have always loved the mythical story of the Phoenix. A bird that lives for up to 500 years, who’s tears can heal. A bird with beautiful plumage, who is only ever the only one of its time. When it is getting ready to regenerate, it prepares its nest & bursts into flames, inviting a new phoenix to rise from the ashes.
Whether coming from a small village primary school to start Year 7, or joining us part way through the year from another secondary, every student and pupil is made to feel welcome at Longcroft School and Sixth Form College. For over 65 years we have been making our students and pupils feel welcome, safe and part of a community. Nothing is more important to us than the education and wellbeing of our pupils, who join us in Year 7 from over 40 primary schools and across a wide geographical area. Life at Longcroft is busy and creative, with a learning environment that offers structure, safety, enjoyment, challenges and high expectations. These many and varied experiences broaden the horizon for students and pupils. Our young people form a friendly, enthusiastic and caring school community. Lifelong friendships and strong bonds are formed from the start of adolescence, through to the beginning of adulthood in our successful Sixth Form. No matter where they come from, all our students and pupils can find a strong and inclusive community at Longcroft, which will set them in good stead for the rest of their lives.

Hessle Road Network is a community-led organisation that was formed to enable local residents to actively participate in regeneration issues in their area - particularly those addressing the needs of young people. The project is based in an urban location less than two miles from Hull city centre. Hessle Road Network serves the St Andrews and Docklands ward of Hull which is characterised by severe levels of urban deprivation. Hessle Road Network is a genuinely community run, community focussed set-up involved in the direct delivery of service to its customers (the local community) on a daily basis.
