We are a craft organisation and registered charity based in Leigh Park, Hampshire, with impact across the UK. We literally make space for people and organisations involved in craft, through a programme of workshops and experiences that are co-created with community partners and through consultation with local people. Our specially tailored projects inspire, challenge, skill-up, engage and build new audiences for the sector. They have lasting local impact, and are often transformational for participants. Working in collaboration with local charities, essential need services and community groups we are inclusive to all, making space for a thriving, creative community. We offer both first-time experiences of craft and work with those who want to take their skills to the next level. We enable people to develop new ways of thinking about craft and experience first-hand the important presence of craft in everyday life. Raising the profile of craft in all its forms, we work with local and national arts organisations, contributing to debate, supporting makers and providing opportunities. Through our outreach projects, we work with partners including schools, children’s centres, family learning environments and retirement homes.

We do this by nurturing a more diverse next generation of children’s authors through courses for illustrators and writers of all ages who are interested in children’s publishing.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to our website, which we hope captures the ethos of our wonderful Academy. Harris Academy Morden is a wonderful place to learn and teach. We have a very hard working team of teachers and support staff; they provide a caring and welcoming atmosphere for our students. The Academy site is a huge site with close to 6 acres of school buildings, sports halls, gymnasium, all weather pitches, tennis courts and large playing fields / athletic track thus providing excellent facilities. The Academy has a limit of 900 places across Year 7-11. We are unlike other schools; we do not want to expand at this moment in time, in fact we wish to remain small for as long as possible! This will ensure a small school where your child is known to staff and a caring environment can be provided. The Academy is traditional in our approach to discipline and uniform, yet forward-thinking and at the cutting edge of curriculum development. The Academy aims to develop the whole child. We have a real focus on progress and attainment, yet ensure students develop their cultural awareness. We have a breadth of extra-curricular activities including Korean, Sports, Food and Art Clubs alongside support and extension in traditional subjects.

Whilst this presents few disadvantages to more experienced students who want to study an academic subject in depth, many students would benefit from a greater level of individual attention in a smaller class environment learning practical hands-on-skills essential for effective job performance. OMBS offers a unique combination of excellent facilities, small class sizes, personal tutors and a relaxed friendly environment. As a small college we know every student individually and see them grow throughout their time here reaching levels of expertise they never thought they would achieve. We support them through their academic work as well as their personal experiences. What we provide our students here at OMBS is the chance to gain the advanced skills they need to tackle that first step of their career. They leave here feeling confident and capable about their future. A large number of our students come to OMBS because they have heard about what it is like being a student here at college and in Oxford; because one of their family has been before; or because their school has reassured them that this is the right place and the right course for them. We are lucky to be located in the very heart of Oxford, in St Aldate’s, opposite the beautiful Christ Church Meadow, surrounded by beautiful buildings and historic colleges of the University.
