Lapidus Scotland is an independently constituted voluntary association and is managed by a committee who have skills and experience in facilitating words for wellbeing. We are affiliated to Lapidus International, a membership organisation, and adhere to the same ethical code. Since 1996 Lapidus Scotland has looked to explore and expand knowledge and understanding of the value of words. We have worked with people, groups and organisations across Scotland, offering reading and writing activities to promote health and wellbeing (often referred to as ‘bibliotherapy’). Our programmes offer a creative approach to supporting self-management of long-term conditions and can e.g. help with mild to moderate depression, isolation, dementia, recovery from stroke and other illnesses that impact on individual identity. Our facilitators work with statutory and voluntary organisations across a range of settings. We also offer networking and training events for wellbeing practitioners.

We are offering both in-person and telehealth (secure videoconference) assessment and therapy services. Our office staff will talk with clients about which option may work best for them. Commitment to Anti-Racism: The MU Psychological Services Clinic (PSC) and Center for Evidence-Based Youth Mental Health (CEBYMH) are outraged and saddened by the multiple occurrences of police brutality and injustice against Black and Brown communities (Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Michael Brown, and too many others). These are the result of long-standing structurally racist systems that devalue Black and Brown lives. The disproportionate impact of these inequities is felt not only in the justice system, but also in education, medicine, and mental health care. As psychology providers, we believe that the ultimate manner by which to heal racial trauma is for individuals and the systems within which they work to recognize and eliminate explicit and implicit bias, prejudice, racism, and discrimination. However, at this time, many Black and Brown individuals have already experienced and will continue to experience racial trauma. Our clinic is committed to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for these individuals. We are also aiming to increase provider representation and knowledge in our clinic by working with clinicians and consultants of diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, we are committed to bettering our community and ensuring the safety and well-being of Black and Brown lives. Humankind was first listed as a registered charity in 1984. We are committed to reducing deprivation and exclusion and to improving people’s wellbeing; our vision is for people of all ages to be safe, building ambitions for the future and reaching towards their full potential.  We are an established provider of LGBT+ services and have recognised/supported LGBT+ young people across the North-East for over 14 years. During this time, we have undertaken significant growth in our model and delivery areas, based on service user/partner feedback, referrals, and issue presentation. This growth has led to the development of our training offer and the appointment of a full time Lead Trainer at the beginning of 2022.  While our support services are based in the North-East, we offer a range of CPD accredited training sessions to professionals, young people and schools nationwide. These sessions have been developed by a team with extensive and varied lived, professional and teaching experience. Our training sessions cover topics including LGBT+ Awareness, Gender Identity Awareness, Creating an LGBT+ Inclusive Environment and Understanding Pronouns. The development of these sessions has resulted in our team having an in depth understanding of the issues faced by members of the LGBT+ community in the workplace, the challenges they can face and strategies to promote allyship and effective inclusion.

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

It takes many years for a golf course to mature and develop but Ruddington Grange is now unrecognisable compared to when it first opened in 1988. Quite apart from the fact that more than 5,000 trees have been planted over the years, an ongoing program of improvements has turned this 6,515-yard Par 72 course into one of the most challenging and best-kept in Nottinghamshire. Now a regular venue for county matches and competitions, its reputation grows as each year passes, so it is little wonder that Ruddington has a thriving club membership and is a popular choice for societies and major golf days. The attractive parkland course, which has water hazards in play on eight holes, has also grown into a haven for wildlife – including a pair of resident swans. The fact that all 18 holes provide a different challenge undoubtedly adds to the interest yet the course can be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities. As each year goes by, the trees grow and the greens develop their own identity, so the degree of difficulty increases noticeably.

The inspiration for Memorial 2007 came from a school girl of African heritage who, after a visit to the Tower of London, asked her teacher "where is our history?" The answer is that in Britain, it is not in public view. More than 200 years after the passing of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act in 1807, there is not anything to commemorate the millions of unnamed Enslaved Africans who lost their lives, liberty, and identity through the slave trade which enriched the colonising powers of Europe and their estates in the Americas. We came together informally in 2002 as a volunteer group. We took the name Memorial 2007, looking ahead to the bicentenary of the passing of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act. In 2007 we became a registered educational charity with the Memorial having a dual purpose, not only as a memorial but as an educational resource. Our aim is to provide access to VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) whereby individuals will be able to have an immersive educational experience, regardless of location.

ABOUT The main focus of Elevated Minds is to give young people alternative strategies to improve Mental Health & Wellbeing, focusing on social and emotional development, leadership skills and entrepreneurial skills. We deliver accredited, early intervention programmes to improve the emotional intelligence of predominantly BAME vulnerable young people permanently excluded from mainstream school, on the verge of exclusion or those regularly absent from school. We guide young people to learn alternative strategies that will build self-esteem, build emotional intelligence and resilience by showing them how to think and learn and shift their mindset to determine better future outcomes and increase their locusts of control. Young people will acquire the skills and attitudes necessary to be productive and responsible in their communities and develop their independence. Young people will feel empowered by developing their self-awareness, self-knowledge and self-insight through a strengths-based coaching approach. Their first step to a successful self is engagement and participation in the IDENTITY Project, followed by engagement in the Leadership Project and engagement in the Entrepreneurship Programme.
