glasgow finnish school - glasgown suomikoulu
Glasgow's Suomi-koulu was founded in 2005. The school's mission is to promote
and support the Finnish language skills, Finnish identity, and Finnish culture
and history of bilingual (multiple) and Finnish-speaking children and young
people living in Britain. In several places, such as Glasgow, Finnish schools
form the core of the Finnish network in the region. All Finns, including those
without children, with their friends and families are welcome to the school, for
example just to meet new people and acquaintances over a cup of coffee or to
borrow books from our library. The school organizes lessons for school-aged
children and there is a playgroup for the youngest in the family. We aim to
organize an excursion once a year. Every year, the school organizes a Christmas
party with traditional Finnish Christmas treats. The school also has a small
kiosk, which is open on school days where you can buy Finnish candies for the
worst homesickness. Welcome!
