Behavior Management The faculty of The Education Academy recognizes the need to help children under our care achieve social and emotional growth. In striving to attain that goal, a variety of educationally sound and effective behavior modification techniques are employed. Programs & Services The Education Academy is a private school created to address the needs of elementary school children who are experiencing difficulties within a public school setting. These difficulties include, but are not limited to, social skills integration, attention deficit, anxiety disorders, and autistic spectrum disorders. Each child is enrolled by the sending district’s child study team with parental approval and support. Educational programs are available for grades Pre-K to 8. All classes are self-contained and are designed to maximize learning opportunities for special children. The program is highly structured and equal emphasis is placed on academics and social growth. An extended school year (summer program) is also offered.

There has been a Catholic school on the site since 1875 but, it was in September 1910 that a group of Bernardine Sisters took over the premises and created St Bernard’s Convent High School. To celebrate this centenary, three members of staff have written a history of the school. The book covers each decade of the centenary period, setting them into their historical context, and filled with contributions from former students and staff. The book also provides a fascinating photographic record of the life and development of the school. While of particular interest to those with links at the school, the book also provides a unique and absorbing study for anyone interested in educational developments and life over the previous century. The Billericay Arts Association (BAA) was set up in 1979 as a registered charity to run The Fold as a community arts centre. It is run and staffed by unpaid volunteer members; only class tutors are paid on a salaried basis. It is financed by its own activities and occupies The Fold rent-free from Basildon District Council. The bulk of its funds come from class fees and hiring out rooms; other income comes from BAA events, membership subscriptions, donations, grants and the sale of refreshments.

Hi, I'm Beth. I’m a Speech and Language Therapist from Essex, UK. I'm a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, from the UK, with extensive experience working with children with speech, language and communication needs in a range of settings including schools, preschools and clinics. I'm mum to two primary school-aged children, one of whom has special needs. EU1A9034-2.jpg eu1a9097.jpg I set up my own clinical service provision in 2011 and have since then built up a successful practice, with my own clinic where I see private patients. I also provide a regular service to a number of schools in my local geographical area. I have a master’s degree in Health and Human Sciences (MSc), qualifying as a Speech & Language Therapist in 2009. My undergraduate degree (BA Hons) is in Linguistics and Spanish. I’m registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, the Health and Care Professionals Council and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP). I have been the chair of my local ASLTIP group for a number of years, organising regular meetings and suporting a large group of 18 members covering a range of clinical specialisms. I’ve worked with lots of practitioners and staff in schools and preschools throughout my career and I've provided a lot of information, advice, training and support for a variety of Speech and Language topics. As well as training education staff, I also deliver seminars as a guest lecturer to Speech and Language Therapy Students at the University of Essex. These cover a range of topics, including service provision, speech sounds, stammering, vocabulary and word finding, assessment and intervention.
