The interest of young people in science is developed by inspiring and knowledgeable teachers and technicians. From local events to national policy, we are a professional community dedicated to supporting excellence in science teaching and learning. The Association for Science Education (ASE) is an active membership body that has been supporting all those involved in science education from pre-school to higher education for over 100 years; members include teachers, technicians, tutors and advisers. We are a Registered Charity with a Royal Charter, owned by our members and independent of government. We seek to create a powerful voice for science education professionals in order to make a positive and influential difference to the teaching and learning of science throughout the UK and further afield.

We are passionate about enaging people of all ages in ecological issues, natural history and wildlife. We run Community Events such as Moth Breakfasts (opposite) and Community Mothing and have run courses for schools, youth groups, community organisations and home schoolers. We have a multitude of illustrated talks which have gone down a storm at local gardening clubs and Women’s Institutes. We even appeared as a guest lecturer at Birmingham University – examples are listed here The Nomadic Museum of Natural History is a combination of street theatre and education tool. Formulated out of an idea of a ‘Cabinet of Curiosity’ and the plethora of natural history items in our house it slowly became a 1m long transportable natural history museum. We have since taken in all over the country to festivals, events and private functions. For more detail click here Environmental Consultancy Our resident ecologist Tim has carried out a wide number of projects over the years. Primarily a botanist he has developed skills as an all round naturalist. He has been commissioned on work involving Newt and reptile relocation and survey work at Moredon Park, Swindon Bat monitoring on the Bats in Churches project, Herefordshire Meadow restoration projects in Peterchurch, Herefordshire Badger mitigation work at Snodhill Castle, Herefordshire A summary of his skills is available here Teaching Trees For over 20 years, Teaching Trees been connecting schools with local woodlands across England and Wales. We have been employed to run the programme for Herefordshire and Worcestershire which we have done since 2017. It is funded by the Royal Forestry Society and aims to connect children to woodlands and get them to understand the trees, wildlife and production of timber that are essential for all our health. For more details please visit their website. Traditional Crafts We can offer a range of traditional and modern crafts. However we are experts at introducing people to Wool craft and tour the country as the Woolly Circus. All aspects of wool are covered: wet felting, needle felting, weaving, spinning and preperarion of fleeces. We also offer Green Woodworking courses which include Whittling to make spoons and other items from greenwood with axe, knife and crook knife. We are adept at many crafts and in the past have run workshops in knotwork, origami, willow weaving, pewter smithing with cuttlefish, sewing, leatherwork, stone age craft, decoupage and home made toileteries. We are available to run craft activities at festivals, events, parties and groups. Past events we have run workshops at have been: Green Man Festival Folk by the Oak Festival Larmer Tree Frestival Lakefest Spring Greens Hellens Manor The Big Skill Community Christmas Wreath Making in Peterchurch Christmas Fairs and school events Stag and Hen dos Gardening We take a holistic view to gardening with looking and observing wildlife being key to what we do. ClaN have helped to deliver gardening in schools as well as offering advice and design Our resident ecologist, Tim, can help you run a bioblitz in your garden or grounds to see what unexpected creatures you can find We also offer evening moth surveys or moth breakfasts. Dr. Criddle's passions are emergency, trauma, neuro, transport, and critical care. She is a nationally registered paramedic and has been board certified in emergency nursing (adult and pediatric), trauma nursing, orthopedic nursing, medical-surgical nursing, gerontological nursing, critical care (adult and pediatric), neuroscience nursing, stroke nursing, flight nursing, and nursing professional development. Laura holds advanced practice certifications as an adult acute care clinical nurse specialist and as a critical care clinical nurse specialist. Dr. Criddle has been a clinical nurse specialist since 1990, practicing as an emergency, trauma, flight, or neuroscience CNS at 6 health care organizations across the country. Throughout her career, Laura has cared for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations and has published over 100 journal articles, books, and book chapters covering a wide range of topics. She has been an editorial board member for the Journal of Trauma Nursing, the Journal of Emergency Nursing, the Advanced Journal of Emergency Nursing. Dr. Criddle is a fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nursing and former chair of the Academy. Laura has held academic appointments at 4 universities and colleges and is the co-founder of TCAR Education Programs where she currently serves as a faculty member, clinical nurse specialist, and chief clinical officer. She has an extensive history of speaking to health care audiences across the U.S. and in several countries around the world.

We are situated 1.5 miles south of Durham City centre at Houghall Farm, Houghall Campus, East Durham College, just off the A177. Our flying grounds are primarily within Houghall woods, a local attraction during the Spring for its blooms of wild bluebells. Houghall farm is a mixed livestock and arable farm, which dates back to the 12th century, with a history of monks growing and harvesting crops and sheep for use in the Cathedral, Cloisters and Castle. Houghall farm and its surrounding woods and ponds are home to a wealth of British wildlife, which our customers often have the delight of encountering on their falconry experiences. What we offer We offer one-to-one and group falconry experiences with birds of prey. We fly hawks, falcons, owls and eagles over 450 acres of farm and woodland. We offer our customers the opportunities to get up-close and personal with a range of birds of prey through static and flying demonstrations, hawk walks, training and craft skills, and Raptor Awards courses. We also offer art and photography sessions and educational talks. We are an inclusive business and can offer falconry experiences regardless of customer capabilities. Getting to study in the only Island city of England was a great experience. Being an Interior Design student with a love for History and Architecture, I was overwhelmed with curiosity to explore the place with so much of histories, its ancient art and architecture around the city. The beaches there, is another thing to be mentioned that was just at walking distance from the city. Getting to study and explore at the same time actually brightened up my stay in the city. I met Hetal at the beginning of my academy, she was a great support and actually the person who inspired me to get to explore the place around. I know I did not make wrong choice on selecting my University. It was worth it!

The Clyne Valley is a diverse area with over 700 acres of land stretching from the sea at Blackpill, in Swansea, northward to Dunvant. The areas of: Mayals, Sketty, Killay and Upper Killay also border The Valley. C.V.C.P. was set up in 2010, initially to benefit the communities in the locality. As its popularity increased, it has become well used and appreciated by many Swansea residents. Visitors can enjoy a variety of leisure pursuits, such as: walking, running, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding. Alternatively, they can just relax in the beautiful surroundings. As an organisation, C.V.C.P. is wholly managed by volunteers who have a particular interest in promoting its rich History and Biodiversity, also in improving and maintaining access routes through the Clyne Valley.
