I have practised yoga for over two decades and was totally hooked after my very first class. It was a complete revelation! I walked out of that class like I had woken up and seen things clearly for the first time. My whole body felt free, I was relaxed and could not get over how great I felt. I remember going to work the next day and telling a colleague that I felt "big" (in a good way). This feeling was my energy being released to flourish from whatever trapped state it had been in. My passion for yoga grew as did my personal well-being, and in 2005 when I was given an opportunity to teach, I jumped at the chance. I completed my yoga teacher training with The Devon School of Yoga and then went on to qualify as a Yoga Therapist, certified by Real Yoga, in 2012. I am registered with the Complimentary and Natural Health Care Council (CNHC). I am also a Meditation Teacher, having completed my training with Swami Saradananda. I have attended many short courses and workshops with Yoga Campus, London. These courses have been based around many aspects of yoga, the musculoskeletal system and the "correction" of bodily imbalances, which may be prominent due to general wear and tear or injury. I have also completed courses on restorative and relaxation practices, Pranayama and the history of yoga as well as a short Sanskrit course! I teach several general classes online via Zoom and offer in person or online one or two to one sessions at Sharon Gisbourne Yoga. I also run a specialist online chair based class for those who may need a more adapted approach to yoga. Working therapeutically with people one to one online may not be suitable for all conditions, but if you would like further details see the Yoga Therapy page for more details. I have experience of many styles of yoga and have spent time in India to gain knowledge of these various approaches. I like to apply myself with a holistic and eclectic approach that takes in not only the physical but also the more subtle aspects that yoga has to offer. However, although I always present myself as professionally as possible, I do like to keep everything light hearted and have fun at the same time. I have completed my training with Sheila Whittaker and I am now offering sound therapy in the form of gong baths. These are offered as private sessions and I also run group sessions. The school has a very proud history and can trace its roots back to 1904 and the establishment of the Pupil Teacher Centre in Abbey Road. Even in those days overcrowding was a problem and Torquay Secondary School, as it had become, was opened in Barton Road in April 1915 with 170 boys. We remained at Barton Road until 1983 when we moved to our purpose built site here at Shiphay. At that time we had 750 boys in four Houses; now we have 1120 boys and girls in six houses (girls studying the International Baccalaureate are part of our sixth form) so extensive building programmes have taken place in the last 30 years or so to keep our facilities up-to-date and to provide a suitable environment for learning of the highest quality to take place. The school now stands as one of the top 20 boys’ schools in the country and is forever moving forward in the drive to providing an education, both academic and cultural, to rival that found anywhere in the country. We became a Grant Maintained School in 1993, were given Specialist Status in 1996, Foundation Status in 1997, Leading Edge in 2000, Beacon Status, High Performing Specialist Status in 2006, became part of the South West Academic Trust in 2008, granted Academy Status in 2010 and we became a Multi-Academy Trust in 2012 when we sponsored Torquay Academy in their bid for Academy status. Along the way we have undergone three OFSTED inspections and been found to be outstanding each time. We are rightly proud of our school and hope the website gives a flavour of just why we are so successful in providing an excellent well-rounded education to our students.

In 2008, our hospital founder Shailen Jasani, a Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care specialist, helped to treat an adorable rescue cat called Ralph, after he had been hit by a car. They went on to share a home together for two years before Ralph sadly passed away in 2010. In 2014, when Shailen embarked on his journey to set up a new and very special veterinary referral centre, it felt only right that as a lasting tribute to the wonderful Ralph, the hospital be named in his honour. We are very proud of our last Ofsted judgement of Outstanding in all areas, our third Outstanding judgement in a row. We are described in the most recent report as ‘exceptional’ and having ‘exemplary attitudes to learning’ across the school. This is very important to us and we pride ourselves that students feel confident in school and thrive under our care. It is important that when students leave after their time with us that they do so as well-rounded individuals who have had many different experiences, able to overcome challenges and most importantly to learn from their mistakes. It is important that students get involved in school life as much as possible. We have a wide range of extra-curricular activities and we do encourage all students to get involved. North London Beekeepers (NLB) is the home of beekeeping for many beekeepers in Camden, Islington, Hackney, Haringey, and Westminster, parts of Brent and south Barnet.  Our long history of promoting beekeeping goes back to the 1930s and at present we have approximately 110 members. The NLB teaching apiary is close to Kenwood House and Highgate Village, with additional recently opened apiaries at Alexandra Palace and Highgate.  North London Beekeepers is one of the 75 local associations of the British Beekeeping Associations (BBKA) that serve local communities with support and education. We are affiliated to the Middlesex Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations, which represents our members at area and national levels on the BBKA (www.bbka.org.uk). North London Beekeepers aims to promote apiculture and educate people about beekeeping by holding classes, lectures, practical workshops and discussions as well as participating in local festivals showing live bees and selling honey. We provide advice and assistance in numerous ways to beekeeping members of NLB, welcoming beginners, novices and experienced beekeepers to our ‘beekeeping club’.
