The National Videogame Museum is the UK’s only museum dedicated solely to videogames with a mission to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret videogames for everyone. Forever. Star objects on display shine a spotlight on gaming culture and history, while children and adults alike can discover the importance of videogame preservation through playable exhibits. Play arcade classics like Donkey Kong and Space Invaders, battle it out between old rivals Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario, or join family and friends in a variety of multiplayer games. Work together or compete with favourites like Track & Field, Rockband, or Sheffield’s own party game Gang Beasts or even discover games made exclusively for the NVM like Super Snowball Fight Party [https://thenvm.org/games/super-snowball-fight-party/], a six-player game created by the Museum’s own creative engineer! Sheffield's strong game heritage is also celebrated in the Museum, hosting games from the city and surrounding Yorkshire areas. Favourites include Sumo Digital’s Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing, Gremlin Graphics’ Zool and Team 17’s Worms. Alongside weekly openings throughout the year, the Museum is open every day during the school holidays, where visitors can enjoy additional drop-in workshops developed by the NVM’s award winning Learning Team. From designing a videogame character to programming a mini-robot, the activities are both fun and varied! Generally the club has the following schedule, but check the notices below for the relevant month for more up to date information. Please see the British canoeing site for up to date information about coronavirus, this can be accessed from the home page. Sunday morning, river Don, Oughtibridge 9.30-12.00pm. April to September only - Most Wednesday evenings (when we have coaches). River Don, Oughtibridge 6.30pm-8.00pm. Friday evening, 7:30 - 9:00pm, except Bank holiday weekends Hillsborough Leisure Centre (until 16th December, then resume on 6th January 2023). Monday evening, at the river, (by prior arrangement only) This is for groups, most often scouts. Thursday evening at the river, night slalom. Enquire for details. Club Trips Notice To avoid disappointment on the day - it is important you notify the trip organiser if you intend paddling. Every trip has an upper limit of paddlers to comply with safety guide lines. Please remember to notify the organiser or you may well be turned away on the day. Thank you. The club has been running since 1966, and so is 56 years old. It has an interesting history, which Phil is currently researching and compiling. This will feature on the website when it is complete.

Natural dyes can be made using a variety of plant materials including leaves, flowers, roots, tree barks and kitchen waste. The use of alum and iron as mordants can also extend the variety of the dye colours. Throughout history, people have dyed their textiles using common, locally available materials, this can still be a very satisfying way of adding colour to fabric and yarn to use in your own craft project. Natural Dyes Workshop In this workshop we will make natural dyes from a variety of sources and use alum and iron mordants. We will dye yarn and fabric in the heated dye pots, using tried and tested recipes. We will use the dyed yarn and fabric from our dye pots to produce a colourful sample swatch, for you to keep as a record and use for future reference. This workshop aims to teach you the basics of natural dyeing for you to gain enough knowledge and confidence to continue natural dyeing independently. All materials and equipment are provided. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting messy, or bring an apron. You may also like to bring a small garment, like a t-shirt, a similar size piece of fabric, or some yarn to put in one of the dye pots.

My background in leadership development, occupational psychology, executive coaching, organization development and neuroscience gives me the skills and experience to help any client in any industry to maximise their potential for performance. I work with a small number of experienced associates, whom I’ve known for several years. I have self-funded all the qualifications I need to be able to offer a professional and reliable service. These are listed in the right-hand column. My professional development is continuing as I work towards Chartered Coaching Psychologist status. My professional career includes 9 years as a commissioned officer in the British Army, reaching the rank of major by 30 years old and fulfilling roles as an HR Director/Company Secretary of an infantry battalion (1st Battalion The Green Howards) on operations in Northern Ireland and Bosnia-Herzegovina. I led the first-ever British Army expedition to Lake Baikal, the World’s largest freshwater lake, in Siberia, Russia in 1995, lasting 3 months. After leaving the Forces, I held operations management roles in Ernst & Young, Cap Gemini and Accenture, before working for a number of boutique psychology consultancies, including Chimp Management, a company closely involved with various Team GB Olympic sports including cycling, swimming, taekwondo and canoeing. I am supervised by an EMCC and ICF-accredited supervisor. I am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider, which compliments my skills workshops on managing stress and building resilience. For my own wellbeing, I enjoy running, hill walking and real ale, occasionally combining all three by taking part in mountain marathons followed by a well-earned break in a local pub to refuel and recover. I enjoy reading history and biographies (as well as psychology, it goes without saying!), and I try to keep my German and Russian above the level of embarrassed British tourist asking for directions to the beach.
