LPF Kiddies Club is a multi-award winning, non-profit, out of school club based in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, that works with African and Caribbean children aged 5 to 14 years old who live in the Abbey Wood and Thamesmead areas, and their families. We work to support families of children living in the Boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley. Our school holiday club offers a wide range of fun and engaging workshops, activities, outings and day trips for children to participate in during the school holidays in safe environments where they are able to have fun and make new friends whilst developing and learning new skills. We create and deliver socially, culturally and educationally enriching projects, programs, workshops and community events for the benefit of the community as a whole via LPF Kiddies Club’s; Out of School club, STEM Heroes Science Club, Art, history and Culture club, and our Summer School. Our aim is to develop and enhance the potential, skills and talents of the young children we work with so that they may become role models and future leaders by equipping them and their families with the knowledge, skills social capital needed to raise their attainment levels, break social immobility and improve their life chances through education and personal development.

The team at Blade Education highly values lived experience as a central part of any successful project. We believe that the answers to many issues begin with valuing what members of any community can tell us about what they need for a successful outcome. Wherever possible, we hold lessons, sessions, and events outside. All ages and all kinds of people get involved in Blade Education projects. People have volunteered for us from the age of 8 to 103. From HMS Leigh, a community led heritage and arts project that connected people of all ages with the history of Southend Pier, also known as HMS Leigh, during WW2. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Arts Council and Southend Borough Council, this project was created as part of the VE 75 celebrations in 2020 and survived to be one of the first post pandemic lockdown in person events in September 2021. Our latest project, Southend Safer Care Leavers has developed a free online information service for young people supporting the knowledge already given and ensuring they are ready to take charge of their own health care. Thanks to all our supporters and volunteers from a wide range of organisations and funders, Blade Education for nearly two decades has been able to offer wonderful learning experiences to thousands of children, families, and the general public. The site of Mayflower High school has a rich history since long before the school itself opened. First inhabited in the Iron Age, burial mounds still exist in Norsey Woods, but the town that would eventually become Billericay became important when a Roman settlement was formed following the defeat of the local Trinovante tribe. During the Saxon period a now traditional form of local government came into being. The area was then owned by King Harold's father, who is buried locally, who named the fortified settlement Burghstede. The area then passed into the ownership of William the Conqueror's half brother. When he fell out of favour, William gave the lands to the Cistercian monks. In 1381, men from Billericay joined the Peasant’s Revolt against the poll tax. The rebels were pursued by the Kings armies and a battle ensued in Norsey Woods, adjacent to the modern Mayflower site. Why a ship? Whilst Billericay had become a flourishing commercial centre during the reign of Henry VIII, religious persecution during the reign of James I of England (James VI of Scotland) led some inhabitants to embark on the famous Mayflower voyage to America. The expedition was led by Christopher Martin, born in Great Burstead who is believed to have lived in what is now known as the Old Chantry in Billericay High Street and a meeting of the ‘Pilgrim Fathers’ is said to have taken place in Billericay prior to the sailing In September 1620, the Mayflower set sail from Plymouth, a port on the southern coast of England. Nearly 40 of the passengers were Protestant Separatists (they called themselves “Saints”) who hoped to establish a new church free from religious persecution, in the so-called New World. It is the Mayflower ship that is represented on the school’s badge.

We love Leamington Spa in the UK, and we love being part of a fantastic church community that is really seeking to make a difference. The church has a rich history upon which we are building for future generations. The church building, formerly known as St. Michael’s, was built around 1900 and was the chapel to a girl’s reformatory school. During the 1930s, many families in Leamington Spa were becoming Christians, and so a Pentecostal movement bought the building, using it for regular church services. The church, now called Life Community Church, became part of a network of Pentecostal churches called the AoG (Assemblies of God), which is made up of around 600 churches in Great Britain, and is the sixth largest denomination worldwide. In 2012, there was a leadership transition and David and Leanne Bolton felt the call of God to lead the church and start an exciting journey of repurposing it. Their dream today, like those in the past, is to see many more families in Leamington Spa and across the globe, coming to faith in Jesus. Today, we are a growing, life-giving church for all ages and backgrounds, and God is drawing people to us from all nationalities. LCC exists to help people grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether people arrive with no faith and are exploring Christianity for the first time, or have been Christians for many years, there is a place for everyone. We believe that Jesus came to give people LIFE and that is what this church is all about.
