Our History Dear Families, My name is Matthew Bundy and I am the President of Indi-Kid, the parent corporation to Finding Me Now Learning Center. Thank you for your interest in Finding Me Now! We look forward to the opportunity to provide exceptional service to your family through the early years of your child’s life! Our corporation, Indi-Kid, has a long history of providing quality care for families throughout Indiana. The company was founded in 1972 by my grandfather Ray Bundy and led by my father, Michael, shortly after its inception. In 2004, we committed to expanding our mission to “Care for children in a manner that will please both the parents we serve and God” by carefully selecting our new name. “Finding” symbolizes the age of discovery in a young child. “Me” expresses the importance of the individual child. “Now” emphasizes the value of each child at this very moment. More than 40 years after our doors first opened, our traditional values of family, faith, and learning through play are always at the center of our operations. We have based our program on the traditional daycare tenets of love & play, while providing a modern learning program that has earned the highest quality rating the State of Indiana awards, as well as national accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Technology-based assessment and planning tools provide our teachers with guidance to perpetually structure their lesson plans to the development needs of each child as well as the group. We are extremely pleased to feature The Creative Curriculum® by Teaching Strategies® as the framework of our childhood education program. Our experienced team uses this powerful tool to continuously assess your child’s development, tailoring immersive lesson plans to individualized needs. On a personal level, as I was considering the opportunity to join Finding Me Now, I was reminded by my older brother of a simple prayer that he heard me pray many nights as a young child. Growing up we were aware of the business that our father operated, thus my prayer was to “keep the kids safe at daddy’s centers.” That prayer remains true in my heart, but has grown to include a deeper ambition for the children’s development and for the advancement of our staff. Democracy The principles of democracy, of having a voice and a say in how institutions are run, are explored within the curriculum and across the school. From this we aim to foster an appreciation of the democratic process and allow students to actively engage in decision making so that they are ready to do this in the wider society when the time comes. Citizenship, PSHE and History in particular consider the nature of democracy and in doing so explain alternative systems, their strengths and weaknesses, and the development of democracy today, for example in proportional representation. Within lessons too, we look to provide opportunities for students to make decisions about their learning based on their prior learning and need, identifying an outcome and working towards it in a way which works for them.

Our History Springdale College started life in 1980 as a mission college in Selly Oak, Birmingham, where prominent missionary Lesslie Newbigin taught in his last years of active ministry. In March 2015, with a growing missional vision, Springdale College was renamed ForMission College. ForMission offers degree courses, which have been accredited by Newman University since 2018, for students from a wide range of denominations and networks. The Latin motto of our college is Pro Petri Fide which means For the Love of Peter. Jesus made Saint Peter the leader of the Apostles and it was on Saint Peter’s faith that Jesus said he would build his Church, Bishop Milner Catholic College is part of this Church and our faith is indeed the faith of Peter. Therefore, our college is committed to offering Christian love and care to each person within it irrespective of their faith background. As such, everyone is valued as a gift from God and treated with utmost respect. Our History Up to 1960 there was no secondary school in Dudley for Roman Catholic children. At the end of 1956 approval was given to build a three storey Roman Catholic secondary school for 400 students. Construction of Bishop Milner Catholic School began September 1957. The build cost of this new school was estimated at around £191,000, it was to include a gymnasium, science and art rooms, a library and a large assembly hall. As the school buildings neared completion, it was decided that the school would be named after Bishop John Milner, the vicar Apostolic of the Midlands. The official opening took place on 21st September 1960 and was conducted by the Most Rev. Francis Grimshaw, Archbishop of Birmingham. There have been many changes to the original building over the years. In 1963 a three floor extension was added to the main building along with a new dining hall. In September 1981 a “Secretary’s” block was also opened. In September 1994 a new large two storey building was built, which included drama and dance studios. In 2003 construction was well underway of what was to become the Bishop Milner Catholic College of today , with multiple ICT suites, Learning Resource Centre, study areas and many new class rooms to replace the 1960s buildings.

The idea for Birmingham Egyptology arose in 2003 following the graduation of a class of MA Egyptology students eager to maintain their social network. In the following years members met socially and, on occasions, joined together for field trips and enjoyed involvement in research projects and, as a result, several of the original members of the group are still in regular contact. The group newsletter was first published in 2006 and circulation was extended to other interested groups and societies within the discipline. With the addition of new members through the various postgraduate programmes at Birmingham numbers have gradually increased until, by 2011 it was felt that we had sufficient strength in depth to host the CRE conference. That event took place in March 2012, its apparent success inspiring our most recent development: the formation of the Birmingham Egyptology Forum. The Forum brings current postgraduates together with alumni, other students and academics associated with University of Birmingham, and members of the public to work on a variety of projects. Regular seminars are held within the University to discuss matters of mutual interest. Other activities continue the work relating to the Eton Myers collection of objects currently on loan to the University following on from the initial catalogue of essays published on the University web site in June 2012. A summary of Birmingham Egyptology activities are presented on this web site to engage the interest of all persons interested in the topics raised, and updates will be made from time to time as opportunity allows. Items of the type formally published in the newsletter will now appear on the blog section whereas those of a more academic nature will appear in the journal section. The Birmingham Egyptology Journal, ISSN 2053-3586, is a peer-reviewed publication, available free of charge, which provides a platform for the presentation of scholarly articles relating to the culture, history, and archaeology of ancient Egypt and to which Birmingham Egyptology invite contributions from outside sources. Those interested in submitting articles may wish to consult the guidelines for contributors outlined in the ‘Journal’ section. The Birmingham Egyptology website is published by the Birmingham Egyptology Group, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham, United Kingdom.
