In August 2019, Havering Changing was thrilled to join Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme. Havering Changing will trial radical new ideas that engage local people in arts and culture in a variety of new ways.

The College’s history dates back to 1706 when Palmer’s first opened after merchant William Palmer founded a charity school for the parish of Grays, while the Seevic Campus opened in 1972 as a Sixth Form college. The new further education college builds on its strengths and heritage to provide even better prospects for students across Essex. Conducting a lesson supporting learning and related to the preservation of Bulgarian culture, traditions and folklore. For this purpose, the students will have the opportunity to choose a club of interest. 3. On-site training in Bulgarian in the preparatory group for children of preschool age. 4. On-site training in Bulgarian language and literature, history and geography of Bulgaria, for students from 1st to 12th grade according to study programs and teaching aids approved by the Ministry of Education and Science. 5. Electronic training without face-to-face classes for the acquisition of basic language competence by children and young people who do not speak Bulgarian. 6. There has been a Catholic school on the site since 1875 but, it was in September 1910 that a group of Bernardine Sisters took over the premises and created St Bernard’s Convent High School. To celebrate this centenary, three members of staff have written a history of the school. The book covers each decade of the centenary period, setting them into their historical context, and filled with contributions from former students and staff. The book also provides a fascinating photographic record of the life and development of the school. While of particular interest to those with links at the school, the book also provides a unique and absorbing study for anyone interested in educational developments and life over the previous century. The classes are varied in cost and would suit all ages and abilities.   We have polymer clay classes to create colourful jewellery that can be created as a gift or a special event for friends and family.  Tribal jewellery-making workshop including the history of such jewellery, learning leather braiding and decorating with different beads.  Ring-making class to design and create a ring learning wax carving and sizing, the finished piece will be cast in silver and polished by us, you will receive your treasure in a branded gift box.  All these events are suitable for individual or group bookings, celebrations, birthdays and corporate events, with a glass of bubbly provided if desired!

The team at Blade Education highly values lived experience as a central part of any successful project. We believe that the answers to many issues begin with valuing what members of any community can tell us about what they need for a successful outcome. Wherever possible, we hold lessons, sessions, and events outside. All ages and all kinds of people get involved in Blade Education projects. People have volunteered for us from the age of 8 to 103. From HMS Leigh, a community led heritage and arts project that connected people of all ages with the history of Southend Pier, also known as HMS Leigh, during WW2. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Arts Council and Southend Borough Council, this project was created as part of the VE 75 celebrations in 2020 and survived to be one of the first post pandemic lockdown in person events in September 2021. Our latest project, Southend Safer Care Leavers has developed a free online information service for young people supporting the knowledge already given and ensuring they are ready to take charge of their own health care. Thanks to all our supporters and volunteers from a wide range of organisations and funders, Blade Education for nearly two decades has been able to offer wonderful learning experiences to thousands of children, families, and the general public. The site of Mayflower High school has a rich history since long before the school itself opened. First inhabited in the Iron Age, burial mounds still exist in Norsey Woods, but the town that would eventually become Billericay became important when a Roman settlement was formed following the defeat of the local Trinovante tribe. During the Saxon period a now traditional form of local government came into being. The area was then owned by King Harold's father, who is buried locally, who named the fortified settlement Burghstede. The area then passed into the ownership of William the Conqueror's half brother. When he fell out of favour, William gave the lands to the Cistercian monks. In 1381, men from Billericay joined the Peasant’s Revolt against the poll tax. The rebels were pursued by the Kings armies and a battle ensued in Norsey Woods, adjacent to the modern Mayflower site. Why a ship? Whilst Billericay had become a flourishing commercial centre during the reign of Henry VIII, religious persecution during the reign of James I of England (James VI of Scotland) led some inhabitants to embark on the famous Mayflower voyage to America. The expedition was led by Christopher Martin, born in Great Burstead who is believed to have lived in what is now known as the Old Chantry in Billericay High Street and a meeting of the ‘Pilgrim Fathers’ is said to have taken place in Billericay prior to the sailing In September 1620, the Mayflower set sail from Plymouth, a port on the southern coast of England. Nearly 40 of the passengers were Protestant Separatists (they called themselves “Saints”) who hoped to establish a new church free from religious persecution, in the so-called New World. It is the Mayflower ship that is represented on the school’s badge.

We love Leamington Spa in the UK, and we love being part of a fantastic church community that is really seeking to make a difference. The church has a rich history upon which we are building for future generations. The church building, formerly known as St. Michael’s, was built around 1900 and was the chapel to a girl’s reformatory school. During the 1930s, many families in Leamington Spa were becoming Christians, and so a Pentecostal movement bought the building, using it for regular church services. The church, now called Life Community Church, became part of a network of Pentecostal churches called the AoG (Assemblies of God), which is made up of around 600 churches in Great Britain, and is the sixth largest denomination worldwide. In 2012, there was a leadership transition and David and Leanne Bolton felt the call of God to lead the church and start an exciting journey of repurposing it. Their dream today, like those in the past, is to see many more families in Leamington Spa and across the globe, coming to faith in Jesus. Today, we are a growing, life-giving church for all ages and backgrounds, and God is drawing people to us from all nationalities. LCC exists to help people grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether people arrive with no faith and are exploring Christianity for the first time, or have been Christians for many years, there is a place for everyone. We believe that Jesus came to give people LIFE and that is what this church is all about. Our vision is to be a thriving "Glocal" (global/ local) community of people who KNOW GOD, GROW TOGETHER and GO! MAKE A DIFFERENCE (or KNOW - GROW - GO!) Our future is bright and full of purpose. We believe that as a church and in partnership with other people and organisations that we can make a difference. From helping people in our community who are trapped in poverty and homelessness, to reaching people on the mission field of India; we are playing our part to see our community changed.
