Making music is inherently human: it connects us, has the ability to improve our lives and brings people together. It also helps people to grow in self-esteem, build essential skills and lead bright futures. It’s the reason we exist: to help the young people, schools and communities of Calderdale to have access to – and benefit from – life-enhancing music and arts opportunities. Calderdale Music Trust was established in May 2015 having previously been part of the local authority when it was known as Calderdale Music Service. In 2019, we took an important step forward in our transformational journey. We made changes to our structure and the way we operate, including the appointment of a new leadership team who share a passion and vision for making a positive difference in the communities we serve. Marking a new chapter, we have invested in our stunning new flagship HQ in Halifax, that will make it easier to bring people together, providing a community base for live performances, private lessons, a place to gather, and much more. We also listened to feedback from our schools, parents and our team resulting in our new name and brand identity: Calderdale Music. There’s no final destination; we see this as an ongoing journey to keep doing better and providing better services, which we’ll do by listening to the needs of our learners, their guardians, schools and hub partners. Our ambition is to create an inclusive, forward-looking service that puts people and their unique musical learning adventures at the heart of everything we do. We currently work with thousands of children, young people and adults, and this figure continues to rise year on year. We take pride in our professional development (CPD) offering to schools and our flexible, bespoke approach to teaching, working around the curriculum to make music a fun and pleasurable experience for young people. Our music leaders are among the best in the sector. We offer much more than just music education, we provide support, performance opportunities and a community for learners from all backgrounds to come together socially and share a passion – or just try out something different. Although steeped in musical history, and without doubt some of the finest brass bands in the world, we believe Calderdale can do more to reflect and celebrate its musical and cultural diversity. So as the lead organisation for Calderdale Music Hub, we’re working with local schools, cultural organisations and community groups to bring exciting opportunities and live performances to the doorsteps of Calderdale. We’re here to shine a spotlight on the amazing talent, diversity and prospects our region has to offer. Our vision for the future is to open life-long music and arts education opportunities to all, providing a cultural heart for Calderdale that unites, motivates and inspires people to live more creative lives.

Providing information, news, events, community activities, schools of study and online prospectus for the conservatoire and arts centre.Exceptional Education Alongside the pioneering Bachelor of Music with Honours, the RNCM Undergraduate School includes the ground-breaking Bachelor of Music with Honours in Popular Music (the UK’s first four-year degree in this subject) and the Graduate Diploma of the RNCM (a specialised programme for busy performers and intelligent musical thinkers run in partnership with The University of Manchester). Revalidated in 2021, these programmes offer flexibility to create bespoke packages that fully support future career aspirations. They also complement the RNCM Graduate School, which provides a stimulating environment for advanced studies in performance (including conducting), composition, musicology, music psychology, and music education. Additionally, the College is home to Junior RNCM, a vibrant community of gifted young musicians aged eight to 18. Each Saturday during term time, they study with exceptional tutors, perform with like-minded people, learn transferrable skills for life, and create a solid platform for further study at a conservatoire or university.

My passion for nails & teaching has gone from strength to strength the past 3 years. There’s honestly nothing I don’t adore about my job - the knowledge I have absorbed, the client base I have gained & the online classes I have held throughout the COVID-19 lockdowns. It really is true that ‘you get out what you put in’. I actually studied Dance at University, unbeknown to me that it was not going to be my career path. I got to my 3rd year & something clicked, it was not making me happy anymore. I knew I always had a creative streak - I just had to figure out where to channel it. Beauty was always a passion of mine - I loved doing make up for a while, but it felt more of a hobby and I soon shrugged it off. Then the next minute, I found myself watching more nail tutorials on YouTube than I was actually studying! A big sign. I then began to research nail courses, plenty of them in fact! Fast forward... I graduated Uni, completed my nail course, and the rest is history! I truly found my feet when I found my love for nails. Now I want to help people do the same.

Business development and IP support in Greater ManchesterManchester has a long history of supporting enterprise and innovation. In 1919 the Commercial Library opened in Manchester’s Royal Exchange, providing free access to the region’s businesses and residents to information about trade and industry. The Commercial Library operated in Central Library until the re-opening of the building in 2014, when it became the Business & IP Centre Manchester. In March last year the Government announced plans to invest £13m over three years to expand and build on the success of the Business & IP Centre network, headquartered at the British Library. This major investment has enabled the British Library to widen its support network to local entrepreneurs in towns and cities across the country via a hub and spoke model centred on the 15 existing Centres across the country. Our plans are ambitious, encompassing seven neighbouring authorities, plus Lancaster and Blackpool. Our existing partnerships with many of the libraries gave us a good starting point – well established links via the long standing Ask About Business collaboration, providing information, workshops and support for startups, businesses and inventors. However the new regional expansion will also include Lancaster Library, who weren’t previously involved and have extended our geographical reach even further up the north west coastline! What does the BIPC expansion bring? Firstly there are new branded spoke BIPC’s in specific spaces within Altrincham, Ashton, Blackpool, Bolton, Bury, Lancaster, Oldham, Eccles and Stockport Libraries.

The Manchester Chinese Education Cultural Community Centre was established in 1979. There are 4 sections: Chinese Music, Martial Arts, Culture and The Chinese School. We have performed Chinese Music, Martial Arts, and Cultural plays and dances to the public many times. We are a non-profit making, non-political and non-religious body. The number of our pupils has been increasing steadily to over 300. In 1998 our school registered as a GCSE and GCE A-level examinations centre. Our school is governed by the school committee and managed by the headmistress and staff. All are volunteers. We depend on fees, fund-raising, donations and grants to finance our school. We aim to provide an opportunity to anybody who wishes to study Chinese Language, Culture, Geography and History, enabling them to appreciate our motto: "Chinese moral righteousness and manners". We also invite specialist artists from the UK and abroad to demonstrate Chinese Music, Arts and Crafts to stimulate the pupil's interest in Chinese Culture. On behalf of the centre committee I would like to thank you for your support and generous donations. We are very grateful to the headmistress and staff for sacrificing their valuable time to run the school. We would also like to praise and encourage our pupils in their excellent work.
