The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) is the probably the oldest independent membership-led professional body for global clinical researchers. For over 40 years, The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) has provided high quality training, networking and support to the clinical research community. For many Members the Institute has been part of their life throughout their working careers, many have been with the Institute since its first incarnation as the ACRPI. It is the membership that makes the Institute. How does it all work ? The Institute of Clinical Research is you, the Membership governed by the Articles of Memorandum drawn up by the founding members. The Board is made up of members who give their time freely to guide the future direction of the ICR. The ICR Secretariat is the administrative arm of the Institute, its primary focus is to ensure that the wishes of the Board and Membership are carried out and to see to the day to day tasks that any membership organisation generates. Our Mission The ICR exists to support our members through all stages of their careers. I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the School of Computer Science and Informatics at Cardiff University, working on Human-Computer Interaction and Human-Robot Interaction as part of the Human-Centred Computing Research Group and member of the new Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Human-Machine Systems (IROHMS). Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute, University of Nottingham, I worked in the area of Human-Robot Interaction and Human-Computer Interaction. Also, I was part of the EPSRC project "Autonomous Internet of Things", at the Mixed Reality Lab, University of Nottingham. My research focuses on human-robot collaboration, human-computer interaction, Internet of Things (IoT), and a socially responsible approach for designing technology. I am particularly interested in understanding the impact of technology through a user-centred research focus in different contexts, i.e healthcare, domestic environments, factory domains, and the global south. My background is in Computer Science, I received my Ph.D. at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, working at the HumaLab research group, during that time I explored: The impact of novel interfaces to support the self-report of emotions of informal caregivers/unpaid carers. How digital skills affect preferences of interfaces: Tangibles, Mobiles, and Ambient. Technology and social network use in complex contexts, i.e mothers of children with chronic illness, informal caregiver/unpaid carers of dependent elderlies, and isolated caregivers.

ABC Paramedic Services was set up by our Training and Event Manager, Craig Gray. Craig spent fifteen years working in front line Emergency Services within the Scottish Ambulance Service in Edinburgh. The final six years of this was spent as a First Response Paramedic on a Rapid Response Vehicle dealing predominately with Class A / Red (i.e. potentially life threatening) emergencies. In 2011 Craig became the first Paramedic in the history of the Scottish Ambulance Service to be awarded ‘The Chief Executive’s Special Award’ for displaying the highest levels of commitment and professionalism in his job. Craig’s considerable knowledge and expertise extends to the private sector including delivering First Aid Training to Healthcare Professionals, courses at the Royal College of Surgeons, and providing Medical Cover at events such as ‘T in the Park’, ‘The Edinburgh Tattoo’ and the ‘Queen’s Garden Party’. In 2012, Craig provided Paramedic level cover as Chief Medical Officer at the ‘Urdd National Eisteddfod’ festival in Wales with over 100,000 spectators in attendance. Craig has also employed his medical skills for charitable causes, running a medical clinic in a remote part of North East India as well as being involved in a pioneering ‘out of hospital Cardiac Arrest’ study aimed at improving CPR skills. Craig takes a very personal, hands-on approach to the business and is actively involved in the strategic developments of all training, events, and projects.

Keeping Well in South East London (KWSEL) is a partnership between the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Services provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust (Oxleas), Bromley Healthcare and Mind (Bexley). The KWSEL hub was set up during the Covid-19 pandemic due to the considerable challenges and stresses experienced by health and care professionals. Keeping Well in SEL support is available to all staff delivering health and care services across SEL. This includes a universal offer through a digital portal which includes access to self-help resources, self-assessment, live chat and a community forum. We also offer telephone mental health assessments if you think you need psychological support, and wellbeing conversations if you need someone to talk to. The Keeping Well service is here to provide wellbeing and psychological support to: All NHS staff in South East London All staff in care/residential homes in South East London All voluntary sector staff in South East London, so long as some NHS/social care funding is allocated to your health and care organisation. Aileen has built her medical practice as a doctor with an emphasis on health rather than just disease. She has worked as a GP, as a Specialty doctor at the NHS Centre for Integrative Care and at Bupa Health Assessment clinics. Alongside her clinical work she sits on tribunals for disability benefits to ensure that patients receive the help that they are entitled to. Her experience with working with patients with chronic diseases has led to an understanding and empathy towards those living with these conditions and the additional support that is required. In recent years she has also become involved in medical education with the hope of helping a new generation of doctors understand the changing healthcare needs of our society and how to strive for health amidst illness and disease. Aileen lives with her partner and 3 children. She is committed to continue learning how to take care of her own health needs while working in a demanding profession and balancing raising a family, understanding the demands and barriers for change that we all experience. She personally practises mindfulness and runs regularly to maintain her physical and mental wellbeing. She is a believer that you have to practise what you preach and often shares her own experiences and challenges with her patients to try and help improve self-compassion, acceptance and make change achievable where possible.

Welcome Welcome to First Emergence Ltd. We are a training company offering courses for the Workplace and Healthcare sector Plans for 2023: As regional trainers we’re concerned by the price of fuel and train tickets, strikes and protests, and as such the core team are concerned about making commitments to customers that we can’t keep. Each of the trainers have reduced the distance they are willing to travel and as such the area they are able to cover. At present, we’re only looking to make available about six months. Hopefully this will improve as the outlook improves. Coronavirus Update: The UK Resus Council have confirmed that their ‘Pandemic Protocols’ are not to be considered temporary and we are to treat them as the new norm. This means that a leaner only has to demonstrate effective chest compression to demonstrate competence. The group size is now an increasingly important factor as distancing still needs to be observed on any course. We are minded to cap any course to 12 unless the room size permits otherwise.
