We operate 10 libraries, 4 sports centres with gyms and pools, a 330 seat theatre, 18 community facilities incorporating a wide range of halls, social function and events venues, community centres and pavilions. We also manage the letting of 35 schools in the evenings and weekends. We deliver a wide variety of programmes like sports development (including swimming lessons, sports coaching, Active Schools Programme), arts development (including classes and events), and library and literacy programmes (ranging from Bookbug to Book Week, authors’ talks to book groups). Snowsport Scotland is appointed by sportscotland (the National Agency for sport) to act as the Scottish Governing Body (SGB) for snowsports in Scotland. As such we work in partnership with like-minded organisations to encourage more participation in snowsports and to develop and support our best athletes to perform on the world stage. Every four years we publish a new 4 year strategic plan that details our strategic outcomes and priorities for the new Olympic cycle. The current strategy runs from 2018-2022 and can be found here. Healthy Living Initiatives ran from 2006 to 2020, funded by Glasgow City Council integrated grants. Annexe staff worked across Townhead, Anderston, Yorkhill, Whiteinch and Partick developing and delivering health and wellbeing activities including physical activities, stress management and healthy cooking workshops. From 2011 to 2019 the Connects Project operated with Lottery funding - working with older people in the community to develop and deliver an exciting programme of activities to reduce loneliness and tackle isolation. Many activities were supported by volunteers who, through their involvement in the project, gained confidence to help others and give something back to their community. Partick Pluckers ukulele group is one example. Another is the Knit n Natter group. The global travels of their knitted penguins are a whole other story! Many groups continue their activities today as volunteer-led groups as a legacy of the Connects Project.

Our goals-based mentoring program and the support we receive from our dedicated supporters and volunteers are critical to our success. Streetwork’s Youth Case Management Early intervention and prevention, goal setting and, mentoring are StreetWork’s key focus areas. However, in order for us to successfully address the damaging influences and risk-taking behaviors impacting our young people’s safety, we also work with external, specialist youth services. These services include psychologists specialising in youth mental health and homeless shelters, purpose-built to provide a safe haven from domestic violence. Streetwork’s case management approach enables us to build a community of holistic support, to ensure lasting change and, improved life skills.

Engage Renfrewshire is a third sector interface (TSI); this means that we support local charities and other not-for-profit groups. Now in its 12th year Engage Renfrewshire support local organisations to be well managed, well resourced, well represented and well connected. Engage Renfrewshire provides advice and support to all community focussed groups who want to start up or develop further. We support social enterprises, community development trusts, charitable groups, mutual aid groups and more. We help groups to build capacity and to be safe, by providing information, advice and training for everything from charitable structures to funding. We have a comprehensive volunteering service. We support volunteer involving organisations with recruitment and volunteer support, and work with individuals to find them rewarding and uplifting volunteer opportunities. We also work with local charities and public sector bodies to promote volunteering for all. Our financial services social enterprise, Engage Finance, offers payroll, HR and financial services to individuals and organisations in Renfrewshire and beyond. Our space in Ferguslie Park is a community hub where we host training and networking opportunities as well as hosting other third sector organisations and charities. We are part of local community planning and actively support collaborative working with the public and private sectors to ensure that people and services are working together, in the most effective way possible. We support and advise many community agendas across Renfrewshire including Renfrewshire’s Health and Social Care Partnership, Local Employability Partnership, Future Paisley, RenSEN (Renfrewshire Social Enterprise Network), and Renfrewshire’s Youth Work Network.
