Therapy Services – Symbol has one of the largest teams of Speech and Language Therapists in the UK offering specialist assessment, intervention, training and consultancy for children and adults with special needs. In addition, Symbol also employs Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Behavioural Therapists and Nurses in its Family Assessment Services. Symbol is increasingly deploying expertise from these valuable in-house therapeutic resources across all its activities giving Symbol a unique offer to the people who use and buy its services. Family Assessment Centre & Community Support – Symbol operates up to 10 places for parents with learning disabilities undertaking a parenting assessment and intervention service (Commissioned by the Family Law Courts and Local Authority Children’s Services) and provides 9 families with longer-term specialist parenting support in the community post-assessment. Day Opportunities (The Hopyard Services) – Symbol supports 54 people with learning disabilities in a range of meaningful activities to promote skills in work, learning and leisure operating out of 2 separate sites in Kent. Supported Living – Symbol currently supports 50 people with learning disabilities living in 15 different ordinary houses where they live as tenants. This service is growing rapidly in response to local demand. Short Breaks/Respite Care – Symbol is working with 35 young people and adults providing regular short breaks. The demand for this service is also growing. We have the facility to support up to 13 people at any one time. Community Support – Symbol supports 8 people living in their own homes on a peripatetic basis.

The Autism Training Network was established following an identified need for quality support and training for a range of settings across the UK. Our clients range from health and social care settings, to charity and voluntary organisations through to businesses and public service companies. Over the last decade there has been an increase in the research and development of our understanding of neurodivergence conditions such as Autism, Tourettes and ADHD (to name but a few!) and with this increase, there are more and more individuals who are self-identifying or who are being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This left a massive shortfall in the knowledge and understanding of how to support someone or even just be comfortable around neurodivergent people. We believe that everyday is an opportunity to learn and our team are consistently undertaking further learning and training to enhance their knowledge and experiences to better facilitate training and learning opportunities. Our team has worked with some incredible people in the UK and the feedback that we have received has been testament in itself that we are supporting to make a change to how neurodivergence is seen. We are excited to announce that we are now CPD UK members!

We have access to around 60 or so acres of stunning ancient broadleaf woodland in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Our courses in bushcraft, ancestral skills and wilderness living are perfect for anyone who wants to learn new outdoor skills, foraging, herbal remedies, traditional woodland crafts, corporate team building activities or simply having fun with nature. You don’t need any previous outdoor experience to take part in one of our bushcraft courses, or indeed any of our other courses, and the training sessions are entirely hands on so that you leave Jack Raven Bushcraft with simple, practical and repeatable skills.  Not only will you learn valuable bushcraft, survival and outdoor skills, but we’re certain that you’ll have a lot of fun along the way!  Our ancestral skills and bushcraft courses take place in a private woodland with no public access at an expedition style camp on the North Downs, complete with a yurt and wood burning stove, a parachute, a kitchen area, work benches and a composting toilet.  We have areas where you can pitch a hammock, tarp or small tent, cleared of standing and hanging dead wood, or you can camp on a nearby working farm campsite.  It’s the perfect environment for training in wilderness survival skills and taking part in our unbeatable bushcraft courses. Our bushcraft experience courses in Kent offer a wide range of organised outdoor tasks and team building activities covering wilderness living skills, woodlore, camp craft, tracking, earth skills, carving, and wild food and foraging courses as well as a wide range of traditional craft courses.   Our bushcraft and wilderness survival courses vary in duration, some take a day and are more specialised or you can join us for a bushcraft weekend.  For those who would like a truly immersive experience, we offer 5 day bushcraft courses – here you can learn all of the principles and skills needed to get by in the wild.   We place a strong emphasis on natural history, woodland management and conservation throughout all of our teachings as we believe that this knowledge should inform everything we do in bushcraft, both in the UK and abroad.
