The Guild is the national professional association for Blue and Green Badge Tourist Guides working throughout the British Isles, including the Isle of Man and Jersey. With around 800 full members and a network of regional and local associations with nearly 1,000 members holding group membership, the Guild represents around 1,800 guides. Its members offer guiding in 34 different languages. They are listed in the Guide Search facility. Since its foundation in 1950, the Guild has been dedicated to raising and maintaining the highest professional standards of its membership. The Blue and Green Badge is recognised internationally as the qualification of excellence in site and heritage interpretation, and in communication skills. It is awarded only following extensive training and vigorous examination. The Guild is run by an Executive Council, elected by the membership, and salaried office staff, and provides support and advice to its members on both policy and all issues covering guide services, sites, coach operators and health & safety. The members are kept up-to-date with weekly e-bulletins and regular newsletters packed with informative articles and updates on guiding-related issues; monthly diaries listing major events, opening times and admission prices; access to an extensive Continuing Professional Development programme. Guild members are covered under public liability insurance, which provides annual cover up to £5million. A copy of the policy is kept at Guild House and the office staff can assist with any enquiries you have as to extent of cover, which includes cover whilst on tour anywhere in the world. As a highly respected organisation within the tourism industry the Guild is without political bias. It acts as a pressure group and consultative body on all matters concerning guiding. The Guild is a member of European Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (FEG) and the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA). FEG’s new YouTube channel can be found here

GTG Training (Edinburgh)

The Glasgow Training Group was established in Kirkintilloch, Glasgow, in 1971, with the aim of delivering high-quality apprenticeships across the West of Scotland for the automotive industry. The company, which was created by an automotive retail consortium including Sir Arnold Clark, brought about much-needed change for apprentices and the entire industry, and introduced a varied and innovative training programme that would grow to become one of the most respected in the UK. Purchased by the Arnold Clark Group in 2003, the business soon became known as GTG Training Ltd. and expanded its offering to provide high-quality training courses and education across a wide range of disciplines, such as Business Skills, Computer & IT, Health & Safety, Transport & Logistics and Automotive Technical. With £50million of investment since 2004, GTG now owns five dedicated training centres – in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Wolverhampton. At the very core of the business lies a deep-seated passion for providing high-quality apprenticeships. We recognise the importance of investing in the future workforce and our aim is to give learners the skills and experience they need to succeed in the automotive, transport and health and safety industries. GTG hears the voice of its stakeholders and is always considering how best to meet their needs, including clients, learners, delegates, staff, the Board and the wider industry. That’s why we consistently reinvest our profits to provide flexible and effective workspaces, up-to-date technology, relevant and modern equipment, dedicated staff and more. The growth of the business has coincided with a number of important milestones – becoming the official provider of fleet services and volunteer training for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games; a visit from Prince Charles in 2015 following our involvement with Prince’s Trust Get into Cars initiative and our Training Provider of the Year award at the 2019 Talent in Logistics awards. With the approval of many prestigious bodies, such as SQA, IMI, RHA, ILM, FTA, City and Guilds, GTG has defined its position as one of the UK's most innovative, experienced and qualified training providers.

Liversedge

ndate Systems Ltd was formed in 1991, initially providing Written Schemes of Examination (WSE), and helping companies to comply with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) set out by the Health and Safety Executive(HSE). Major expansion from 2000 enabled Mandate to take advantage of a gap in the market and progress to providing a full comprehensive solution for the pressure industry including consultation, auditing, technical manuals, statutory Pressure System examinations and training. From 2000 technological developments were made by moving away from paper to CD manuals, followed by progressing to emails in 2003, and online documentation by 2005. With over 25 years experience in compressed air, we have used our vast knowledge to be the frontrunner in new technologies, most recently moving reports from paper based to the cloud; Since 2017 all of the reports and documents produced by Mandate are now held in an innovative cloud-based system, streamlining and expediting the whole process. We have recently been thrilled to bring to the market PressureSafe – a new concept that is revolutionising the industry. Over time we have assisted over 5000 customers with PSSR and produced over 9000 Technical Pressure System Safety Manuals, including Written Schemes of Examination (WSE). With a multitude of customers ranging from the Ministry of Defence, Blue Chip PLC’s, and the Emergency services to small garages and dentists, we comprehensively produce WSE’s and carrying out legal examinations on many gases, mixed gas, compressed air and steam systems varying from 0.5bar +. Our dedicated team have many years of experience in this area of Health & Safety, with our head of engineering qualified to CEng and a member of the IMechE and IMarEST. With a complement of engineers having extensive knowledge of pressure system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance, we specialise in providing our customers with a service that we truly believe is second to none.
