Bees are fascinating insects that can recognise faces, switch between black-and-white and colour vision, and understand the mathematical concept of zero. They play a vital role in maintaining the diversity and integrity of our ecosystem, and we still have so much to learn about them. At Beesitter, we thought that we could not keep all this knowledge to ourselves and had to share it with everybody who is curious and mindful of the creatures surrounding us. In 2018, we took the challenge to educate and reach out to a broad audience about bees through our online courses and workshops. Beesitter was founded as a community interest company just to fit this purpose. We believe that anyone can care for bees in various ways, from supporting local beekeepers and populations of bees to becoming a responsible and considerate beekeeper. All our courses and teaching content are based on a scientific understanding of bees. Learning about bees is a fun way to acquire knowledge about biology, chemistry, and physics, and we take specific care in making these subjects understandable to anyone. We have hope that our action will raise awareness on the ecological and economical importance of bees and contribute to reversing their decline.

My name is Carmela, I am Italian and I hold a full English teaching qualification in Post Compulsory Education and Training (Cert.Ed.)and a Qualified Teaching and Learning Status (QTLS).I also have a BA degree in Post Compulsory Education and Training from Warwick University. I have been teaching Italian for over ten years privately and for colleges. I have taught Italian at the Brasshouse language centre in Birmingham, at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College and South Staffordshire College as well as delivering training for companies such as EXD Ltd. in Coventry, Arlani in Burton, Redrock in Birmingham and for private groups, reaching areas in the West Midlands, from Birmingham to Coventry, Warwick to Lichfield and Solihull. ITALIAN LANGUAGE CULTURE AND COOKING WORKSHOPS- ABOUT ME I grew up in a small village in a traditional Neapolitan family where we prepared local and classical Italian dishes, growing and preserving most of the food we ate. Preparing pasta or gnocchi for our Sunday lunch was a family get together event! We all helped and learned how to make things in a traditional way. During the major festivities such as Christmas and Easter the food preparation took weeks and families and friends exchanged their creations: Struffoli, Panettone and Pandoro at Christmas; Pastiera, Tortano or Casatiello at Easter; for Carnival we made Chiacchiere, and for father’s days Zeppole. There were times when we all went to zia’s house to cook pizza and bread in her stone oven… every occasion was special and gave us an excuse to prepare a traditional dish. Therefore, my love for the food and food preparation grew thanks to the area I was born and my family’s customs. When later I travelled as a student, I exchanged recipes with other people and grandmas from Sicily, Puglia and Tuscany. Therefore, the Italian cooking workshop is an opportunity for me to share with you, in my kitchen, what I have learned, and recreate together an authentic Italian experience.

Through personal experience, I know how vital self-care is. I have designed some classes to allow people to take the much needed time away to relax, which in turn will reduce their stress and anxiety. I feel it is even more crucial now as we are dealing with so much uncertainty around us! What is hypnosis? Well, before you say it, no it isn't turning people into chickens! Hypnosis allows you to go into a deep relaxation. Once in a relaxed state, guided imagery is often used alongside positive suggestions such as "you will have a calmer and more positive week". It is important for me to point out that you remain in complete control throughout the whole experience. Many people have said that they have left feeling totally calm after the experience and it is often seen as a way of escaping from reality for a little while! In my practice I use a combination of techniques and tools to tailor make the experience for your individual and specific needs. I work in an integrative approach and deal with many issues at once as I believe they are all interlinked. I am bound by an ethical framework and I am part of the National Hypnotherapy Society and National Counselling Society. I offer training and 1:1 sessions. Even if you do not decide to go with me, please ask the therapist what qualifications they have, this is something I feel strongly about as when working with you we need to be open and competent in our ability to help you to feel the best you can. The Successful for All Foundation is committed to enabling every child to read and succeed. It was founded by Dr. Robert Slavin and Dr. Nancy Madden, who were united in the 1970s by a shared passion to improve education, especially for children from disadvantaged circumstances. Working as researchers at Johns Hopkins University, they turned basic research into comprehensive programs designed to harness the power of kids, unlocking their potential through cooperative learning. The pair worked directly with educators to establish and disseminate their methods – receiving international recognition along the way – and turned Successful for All into a full-fledged not-for-profit. They are backed in their mission to erase illiteracy and change lives by a committed and experienced leadership team and Board of Directors. The Success for All Foundation continues its strong, productive bond with Johns Hopkins University and its mission to deliver the promise of literacy to all. The university’s Center for Research and Reform in Education works with SFA to develop, research and disseminate reading programs pre-K through grade 12.
