Born in the East End of London Valerie Masters was passionate about singing and entertaining even from the tiny age of 4 years old when people would ask her grandfather to hold her up to the microphone and sing. Her career started when she left school at 16 to join a well known Jazz Group, the Ray Ellington Quartet. She was auditioned by Dick Katz, the great pianist with the Group and who was awarded the title of Jazz Musician of the year in the 1960s and to whom Valerie later married. Valerie travelled with the quartet until she ventured on a solo career internationally . She had her own radio show on Radio Luxembourg, the Valerie Masters Show. She was voted Top Girl of the North East when she had the series "The One o'Clock Show" and the series "Young At Heart" with Jimmy Saville, starred in countless TV Shows and series and Sunday at Winchester with Jess Yates, and appeared at the London Paladium on several occasions. Valerie has appeared on film and TV and you would have seen and heard her in the series Secret Army, Seaside Special, the Singing Detective, the Wombles, the Faith Brown Show, the Stanley Baxter Show, Russ Abbott, Grace Kennedy and many others during the 1960s and 1970s. During her time as a solo artist and entertainer she sang with Quincy Jones in the Tivoli Gardens, Sweden and Denmark and many other famous names including Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark, Cilla Black, Lulu, to name just a few. She Led the BBC team singing to come first in the Nordring Festival in 1983 with their Winning Show. She has also sung titles in many films including The Helion for John Hayman, who went on to work with Cubby Broccoli on the James Bond Films, Hobs Choice, The Wall with Bob Geldorf, Yentl with Barbara Streisand, Dutch girls with Timothy Spall and has also been heard on the TV singing American and British adverts/jingles such as Scottish Cheddar, Knorr Soups, Bangor Jeans, Tetley Teabags and many more, too numerous to mention! Since the passing of her husband Dick Katz Valerie is now married to the Property Owner and Theatrical Agent Tony Nunn the former great violinist. With her knowledge and experience of glamorous show business and changing fashions through the years and her absolute passion for jewellery, this enables and inspires her to come up with the most beautiful elegant designs. Her personality and flair shows through in each and every one of her designs and they are all made by her and her team with the utmost love and care as she throws her heart into them. Glass blowing courses: Learn to blow glass at Clavering Glassworks, Essex 1 DAY BEGINNER COURSE This one day lesson lasts for six hours and aims to provide an intensive introduction to this most exciting and challenging of craft disciplines. Throughout the lesson, you will learn to gather molten glass from the furnace at a temperature exceeding 1100 degrees and manipulate it with a range of traditional glassmaking tools. You will be taught to apply colour and pattern to the clear glass so that by the end of the lesson, you will have produced a number of items from vessels to paper weights of your own design to take home and treasure. KEY INFORMATION: This glassblowing lesson is aimed at complete beginners, so no previous experience is necessary. Small class sizes - maximum of three students to one instructor so you will get plenty of one-on one instruction. All safety equipment and materials are provided. Please wear sensible, comfortable clothes, preferably layers, so you can remove the outer layer if you get hot; and flat, sturdy shoes. Long hair should be tied back. Complimentary hot and cold drinks will be provided but feel free to bring along drinks, snacks and a packed lunch. Lunch is available at the Lodge nearby. Students for glassblowing courses must be over 18 years of age. Please note that glass vessels and other pieces made during the lesson need to cool slowly in the kiln, so these can be picked up two days later, or alternatively these can be posted for a charge.

A Bespoke Course The course is exclusively aimed at learners with Education, Health and Care Plans. 1 Year Programme The programme will run for 15 hours a week over 3 days and transitions young people into further education or prepares them for the workplace. A Range of Modules The mandatory modules include progression routes which focus on preparing for further study or employment. There is an extensive range of optional modules should a person want to expand their knowledge in a specific area. Functional Skills We offer separate qualifications in both Maths and English ranging from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2. The qualification helps to prepare people for further learning or develop their knowledge and skills in a work-related subject. Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications included where needed, levels from Entry 1 to Level 2. Bespoke course delivered within a small group setting based on preparing to transition for the following academic year. Units can be studied at different levels to support spiky profiles, work-related units in Animal Care, Business and Administration, Catering, Charity and Voluntary sector, Cleaning, Construction, Creative Skills, Customer Service/Contact Centres, Hair and Beauty, IT, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Retail, Sport and Leisure. Progress into further study at Entry 3 or Level 1 in the vocational subjects studied or into entry level employment in the vocational subjects studied. Our schooner Trinovante has a reputation for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere onboard where the small crew numbers mean everyone gets to play a full role in sailing the ship. You will get to helm the ship too. Most people come on our tall ship sailing holidays on their own and beginners are welcome. We take our Sail Training seriously and will teach you everything you need to know to be part of the crew. Sailing is a fantastic way to travel, get right off the beaten track, unwind, explore and meet people. Arriving on a charismatic schooner means you are immediately part of the scene wherever you go.
