We are working towards using online software that will give us opportunities for you to participate in some of our courses remotely. This includes developing new courses, our regular updates to social media, blogs and resources. John graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Master’s degree in Ocean Engineering. His work experience includes the oil industry as well as government, but he went to the Marine Institute from the Faculty of Engineering. He now teaches mechanical engineering courses in the School of Maritime Studies as well as the Bachelor of Technology. For the past 10 years he has been working and publishing on the development and application of e-learning technologies and methods. John is a recipient of the President’s Award for Distinguished Teaching at Memorial University, the granting of this award being based largely on courses he delivers using technologies like the Möbius Platform. AstroCymru is passionate to raise pupil attainment levels by promoting the many different careers in the space industry from astronauts to various space scientists and engineers through various hands on workshops. Funded by the Welsh Government in 2013 AstroCymru started as project set up by Dr Paul Roche and Emma Wride as part of an outreach arm of the Astronomy Dept. at the University of S. Wales, delivering astronomy related workshops to schools across Wales. Further funding in 2015 allowed the project to expand and become part of the Physics and Astronomy Dept. at Cardiff University. Since 2018 AstroCymru has been a commercial company, continuing to deliver exciting and inspirational STEAM educational programmes to primary and secondary schools, festivals and public events.

RCAC is also supporting individuals to become “Community Champions”, as actors and agents of change in their own communities, making a difference for themselves and the wider society. RCAC is managed by a Board (voluntary management committee) made up of representatives from the GRT communities, meaning that community members have a role as decision-makers and are part of the process of shaping the advocacy and rights agenda that RCAC promotes. The Company believes it is essential that the GRT communities be at the forefront of social progress and positive developments in social inclusion, in the struggle or the recognition of GRT rights and promoting inter-cultural understanding. Within Wales and increasingly across the UK, our advice and expertise is sought by local governments, policy-makers, decision-takers and local or national institutions. We are asked to evaluate the effectiveness of their policies and strategies or to support them in consultation to ensure the voice of the GRT communities they serve, is heard.
