Having qualified from The University of Sheffield in 2015, Hannah began her career with a local government organisation, in mainstream schools. This role primarily involved working with those aged five to twenty-five, who presented with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). This involves assessing communication skills, making recommendations, delivering therapy, training up staff to deliver interventions and working with the team around the young person (e.g. parents, staff, other professionals) to achieve the best outcomes. Hannah has developed specialist interests in two main areas: hearing impairment and selective mutism. In addition to this, she has tried to combat the ever growing budget cuts by coming up with innovative ways to empower schools in their understanding and ability to work with children with SLCN. A key example of this was the development of the Training Care Pathway, which evaluates the school’s strengths and needs in managing SLCN in the classroom, and then tailors a programme of training to up-skill staff.

L.G.M. Training was formed in 2002 and is a family run business which is run by my self (Liam) and my wife Denise and son Paul. During the last seven years we have trained thousands of individuals in a variety of backgrounds and fields which have included industrial, construction, utilities and civil. We have catered for lots of different industries some of which are Water treatment, electricity suppliers, nuclear fuels, the fire brigade, aerospace, local councils, government contracts as well as small companies and individuals. Delivering courses for other training companies has very often left our hands tied as regards facilities and equipment, training aids and quality guidance booklets. So we decided to set up our own training centre which will allow us to control the whole package and deliver courses to a better standard. This of course will take time to achieve and will not happen over night but hopefully anybody who visits our training centre either for training or just to visit will hopefully see what we are striving for. Business development and IP support in Greater ManchesterManchester has a long history of supporting enterprise and innovation. In 1919 the Commercial Library opened in Manchester’s Royal Exchange, providing free access to the region’s businesses and residents to information about trade and industry. The Commercial Library operated in Central Library until the re-opening of the building in 2014, when it became the Business & IP Centre Manchester. In March last year the Government announced plans to invest £13m over three years to expand and build on the success of the Business & IP Centre network, headquartered at the British Library. This major investment has enabled the British Library to widen its support network to local entrepreneurs in towns and cities across the country via a hub and spoke model centred on the 15 existing Centres across the country. Our plans are ambitious, encompassing seven neighbouring authorities, plus Lancaster and Blackpool. Our existing partnerships with many of the libraries gave us a good starting point – well established links via the long standing Ask About Business collaboration, providing information, workshops and support for startups, businesses and inventors. However the new regional expansion will also include Lancaster Library, who weren’t previously involved and have extended our geographical reach even further up the north west coastline! What does the BIPC expansion bring? Firstly there are new branded spoke BIPC’s in specific spaces within Altrincham, Ashton, Blackpool, Bolton, Bury, Lancaster, Oldham, Eccles and Stockport Libraries.
