Gayle founded Mindproof Ltd after working with adults and young people aged 16+ in mental health for over 10 years, predominantly within NHS services. During her time with the NHS, Gayle has helped many clients overcome a wide variety of common mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, OCD, phobias and trauma and specialises in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as well as EMDR therapy. Gayle is a fully accredited member of the industry’s governing body, the BABCP, which is regarded as the highest ‘gold’ standard a CBT psychotherapist can achieve. Gayle has written several research papers on topics such as burnout and engagement within the workplace and the use of CBT for the prevention of depression, for which she was presented an award from the University of Oxford. Gayle holds a full CBT Diploma and graduated with distinction from the world renowned University of Oxford’s Cognitive Therapy Centre (OCTC). Gayle also has a first class Masters degree in Psychology and has achieved further distinction in postgraduate studies of Psychological Therapies (PG Cert) and has trained to the highest level (Level 3) in EMDR therapy. Gayle has a wealth of experience working both within clinical and non-clinical environments and has run numerous training and workshop sessions for corporates, universities and public sector organisations. Masters of Recall runs parallel to our curriculum and supports students to recall core knowledge so that they know more, do more and remember more. Students are given a knowledge organiser at the start of each term. Their home learning is to learn the weekly knowledge using ‘look, cover, write, check, correct’. This knowledge links directly to what students are studying in lessons. At the end of each term they complete a ‘Masters of Recall Big Quiz’. The aim is to be able to recall 100% of the core knowledge in each subject and earn their 100% subject sticker; this happens on multiple occasions, and we are extremely proud of our students. Our ‘Celebration of Knowledge’ assembly praises and rewards achievements each term. Staff and students love these assemblies and are proud to celebrate as a community with certificates, 100% subject stickers and badges. Students love the challenge and are working hard to achieve their MoR badges. Bronze badge = 10 x 100% stickers, silver badge = 25 x 100% stickers and gold badge = 40 x 100% stickers. Masters of Recall is incredibly successful. We already have celebrated students who have achieved 100% in all subjects and over 30 bronze badges have been awarded. Helping the children of travelling salespeopleI feel that it is a great honour to have been elected Chairman of our Foundation, and I trust that we shall continue to be effective in providing educational support for children of travelling sales people during times of adversity. Many years ago, when I was experiencing a tricky time with my career, I was fortunate to receive a series of grants primarily to assist my youngest daughter, Claire, with her education and specialist swimming training. Royal Pinner’s assistance, at a crucial stage of Claire’s education, was invaluable. Claire went on to graduate from Leeds University as well as to participate in the Paralympic Games held in Athens, Beijing, London and Rio – where she won a Gold Medal. Obviously, our Royal Pinner grants were withdrawn when Lottery funding became available, but we shall be forever grateful for the support we received at a critical stage of Claire’s development. Being in receipt of support is one side of the Trust and, since becoming a Trustee several years ago, I have also seen the other side – helping to alleviate the hardships encountered by our beneficiaries and new applicants – and I have felt very humbled. Most of our families face and endure far more difficult circumstances than I did, but, on the other hand, I have also seen how effective our grants and pastoral support can be. Our focus remains on the sons and daughters of commercial travellers where there is also a specific need or hardship, and we aim to continue to provide effective educational support during the years to come.
