Edinburgh

Adobe Certified Expert & Instructor | BA | MSc I have over 15 years of working experience in Design, Photography and Media, allowing me to maintain a wide variety of skills that assist in supporting students, professionals and enthusiasts involved in the Creative industries. Currently, I'm freelancing and teaching MSc Design at the University of Edinburgh. Since I started teaching in 2013, I have taught other educators, art directors, creative professionals but also students of all ages (5 to 75!) and abilities, including individuals with learning and behavioural difficulties. Moreover, I have delivered bespoke Adobe creative training for clients such as the BBC, SKY, WWF, NHS, ILGA, Roche, The National Gallery and several Universities and Colleges. Since 2015 I've continuously been one of the very few Adobe Certified Instructors and Experts. Because of my comprehensive knowledge of the Adobe software and digital media theory, I received a series of certifications from Adobe, such as Educator Specialist in Visual and Video Design, Digital Imaging and Digital Creativity Expert for classrooms, Expert in Digital Media and Creativity Training and Adobe Education Trainer, accrediting me to train other educators. I have achieved an MSc in Design and Digital Media (with distinction) from the University of Edinburgh, where I chose to work with 3D, Motion Graphics, VFX, UI/UX, Video Game Design and AR/VR. I specialised in VR experiences made with Unreal Engine and particle systems. I have also achieved a 1:1 BA (Hons) focused on Photography and Audiovisual Arts, where I had the opportunity to experiment with different forms of visual and digital art whilst specialising in Architecture Photography and Image Editing. Moreover, I hold a Digital Photography certificate from the University of Harvard. My latest experience is focused on delivering lessons and lectures in Digital Media and Visual Arts as well as my freelance projects. Above all, I have successfully employed a motivational approach when teaching and found that this led to many positive student outcomes, such as developing their creative thinking. A key part of my career is helping students reach their full potential, which I work towards by focusing on creative and critical thinking when teaching. Knitted by lw

knitted by lw

Knitted by Lw was created back in 2018 whilst on Maternity leave with my Son Archie. My background is in Fashion and Textiles design, obtaining a 1st Class hons in this subject but specialising in Knitwear my specialist area were hand and machine knitting. I went onto freelancing in swatch design, pattern writing and many other creative roles. Why Chunky Merino Wool? I fell in love with the softness and luxurious quality of Merino wool – I have always been fascinated by various wool yarns, this certain yarn is so versatile and being SUPER chunky it is satisfying to you use as the knit grows so quickly! Which is a bonus. It started with my Signature Chunky heart wreaths, I continued to develop my ideas. I started off for my blankets using Chunky Metre Long wooden Knitting needles, then came across the art of Arm knitting via a tutorial I came across. I then decided to venture on with this idea and started my Arm knitting Workshop classes, Fast forward 2 years later minus the few lockdowns Knitted by Lw workshops are more successful and are constantly growing and becoming popular. As you can Imagine I started to take over the house, My talented husband Ryan came to my rescue and built me my very own garden studio (He is the best!) this is where I also run small intermit workshops – my happy place! Thank you, Thank you! I would just like to say a massive thank you to every single person who has support me over the years, from buying my chunky knitted creations to attending one or two of Arm knitting workshop. It means so much, I am forever grateful.

Montet Designs

My teenage years... IMG_20200922_093644_1.jpg were spent hanging out in the school art department (regardless of what class I was supposed to be in!) and it was there that Mr Alston, my wonderful art teacher directed and nurtured my love of art. Studying Art & Design and then Illustration, was a great foundation to my art career and helped me refine my skills as an artist. But as a naïve graduate, passionately producing illustrations and trying to make it in the freelance world - I soon realised it was going to be more difficult that I thought! I'd been working in Children's Services for 15 years running Youth Participation Projects, managing a Gypsy Roma Traveller Project and delivering a provision of services for the most hard to reach communities. This provided me with the most amazing experiences, as well as allowing me to use my art to benefit these groups. It's been a wonderful journey of learning and a fantastic platform in which to build my business. In 2016 I decided it was time to give up the office job and focus all my time on my community art work. It's been a brilliant time and I'm delighted that I still have daily experiences of working with such amazing people, from our wonderfully interesting communities. I hope that even if it's just in some little way, I am able to make a difference to the lives of those that I work with, through the medium of visual art. Audrey But freelancing for a few years whilst volunteering in the community, opened many new doors and ideas of what I could do with my visual arts. I went on to complete a degree in Community Arts and continued to work with community groups. This is where my love of creating art in the community became well and truly set. My passion for mural painting was formed following the completion of two large scale mural commissions in Scotland. Then with London calling, I completed my next 30 metre indoor mural at a special needs adventure playground in Hackney. In 2007 I was introduced to the medium of mosaic and I just completely fell in love with it!
