The coaching concept and range of services provided by Soccer Steps® have been
developed by Jim Lowther. He has recruited a team of highly experienced
qualified coaches who have worked at Academy level and first team level in the
FA Premier League. There is also a wealth of experience in grass roots football
coaching as many of the coaches worked in grass roots football before moving on
to coach elite players. The staffing is further enhanced by the recruitment of
experienced local coaches and UK based sports science experts to help him
deliver the various activities. Jim has over 25 years of experience in football
development, coaching and sports science. He managed Wimbledon FC’s multiple
award-winning football and community programme while the club were in the FA
Premier league. As an Academy football coach he worked with Charlton FC (U.12s,
U.13s) and Wimbledon FC (U.9s, U.10s). Jim also spent four years as player
development advisor at Crystal Palace FC Academy. For the last 15 years he has
worked as a university lecturer teaching at UG and MSc level (sports coaching,
sports development, match analysis and sport psychology). This broad range of
experiences from professional football and higher education helps shape the
content and services that Soccer Steps offer.
