I had suffered a few injuries that put me out of action for months at a time, which meant my weight ballooned up and down quite regularly. I was very unhappy with how I felt and looked, so I decided to make a change on my own. In the beginning I didn’t know too much about exercise or nutrition and just guessed at what I should do, and continued competing. The results were minimal. After a few more years my size had changed somewhat, but once again another injury stopped me in my tracks. This time I had broken my collarbone and had 4 months out over Christmas, which meant my weight went back up. I knew this time I had to make the right change and decided to go to my local gym for the first time. The staff at the gym were extremely friendly and helpful and even though I found it daunting at first, I began to really enjoy it. I knew that this was what I wanted to do for a living after my first week – the feeling I felt inside was incredible – I had so much more energy and I felt far more confident. At that moment I made the decision that if I had the opportunity to enable other people to feel like this then I would be an extremely happy man.”

Steph grew up in Newbury, Berkshire before relocating to Norwich in 2016. Steph is a professionally trained dancer who gained a First Class Honours degree at Coventry University, studying a BA (Hons) Dance Making and Performance. Throughout her degree, Steph continued to teach students aged 3-18years. She was also fortunate enough to gain valuable experience teaching children with physical, mental and hearing disabilities. After qualifying as a Yoga Instructor in 2014, Steph developed an interest in Aerial Yoga and Aerial Hoop. After attending regular classes, Steph trained to be an Aerial Yoga Instructor with Wild Lotus Studio in 2015. Later that year she completed her Sun & Moon Partner and Community Yoga Teacher Training. Steph regularly participates in CPD trainings such as Beginners Aerial Hoop Teacher Training with Spin City Aerial Fitness (July 2018) & Refresher Aerial Yoga Training with Flying Fantastic/Grace & Gravity (August 2019).

I got married and had children. Years went by and again, I gradually gained weight through lack of exercise. Bringing up children and working full time left little time for anything else. I felt unable to walk into a gym for fear of being stared at or making myself look stupid. It took time and eventually I plucked up the courage to join a gym and found myself a personal trainer who put me through my paces – something I would not have done on my own. I also joined the local ladies rugby team. At the same time, I was training to run my first Bristol half marathon – I have since run several half marathons, including the Bath half and the Great North Run. I still wasn’t eating correctly or getting the results I wanted. I was undoubtedly stronger and fitter but something was missing.

Removing the focus from weight loss and appearance, my mission is to help you FEEL like the best version of yourself. In my experience, that doesn’t come from changing the number on the scale. Instead, I believe establishing body respect and finding a fun, flexible approach to your movement lifestyle is the key to long-term positive change. My sessions are a diet culture free space, I’m not interested in restrictive diets or extreme workouts. Sometimes it’s great to challenge yourself, but incorporating a mindful and intuitive approach will cultivate mental and physical strength from a place of self care and joy for movement!

Veritas Gymnastics provides a fun friendly environment for your child to develop physically and socially. Gymnastics is a great sport for all abilities to take part in and helps to improve physical fitness, balance and co-ordination of all ages. Our classes for school aged children are based within Sir Bernard Lovell Sports Centre in Oldland Common and local primary schools in the Bristol area. Our main focus is recreational gymnastics; our program starts for children aged 4 in full time school and our classes are suitable for children up to the age of 16. All children have the opportunity to work towards new skills on floor, vault, trampette, beam, bar air track and also have the opportunity to work towards Gymnastics Badges and Awards. All children work at their own individual pace and emphasis is on personal achievement. Our professional welcoming approach creates a friendly atmosphere for all children to learn whilst having fun.
