Some of our best childhood memories involve dance. From creating routines in the garden with friends, to proudly hanging certificates on the wall; from being mesmerized by the Flamenco dancers on holiday, to the excitement of getting new ballet or tap shoes... And of course there was dance class each Saturday and all that came with it - fun, friends, performances, new skills, achievements. Some years on, those children are now the teachers. Dance routines with friends in the garden are less common (although not completely unheard of!) and we hope to provide the kind of fond memories for our dancers that have always stayed with us. Dance for all Our philisophy is making dance accessible to all. If you’re looking for dance lessons in Eccleston/St Helens, you don't have to be the next Billy Elliot or Darcy Bussell to join us - a love of dance, music and a will to learn is all you need. Forró Academy is a Brazilian dance school based in London, UK, running weekly forró dance classes for all levels, as well as regular forró workshops and parties.Gino is the founder of and lead teacher at Forró Academy. He has been dancing for over 15 years, initially training as a flamenco dancer, which enabled him to develop a solid individual technique. In recent years, Gino has focused on partner dances, particularly forró, which he was drawn to because of the diversity and richness of the music and the creative possibilities of forró as a dance form. Gino has studied with some of the leading forró dancers in Brazil and around Europe, absorbing the two main styles of forró (roots and universitário) over many years and forging a unique style that combines the two. Through Forró Academy, Gino aims to share his passion for forró with his students, and to help them become confident and skilled dancers. OUR STUDENTS

Giulia Drummond is a singer-songwriter, percussionist, poet and actress creating mystical atmospheres with her hauntingly beautiful voice and musical talent.    Her musical background is filled with charmed sonorities from all over the world, from Afro-Brazilian chants to celtic music, visiting buddhist and hindu mantras, hebrew, sephardic, gypsy music. By exploring different music traditions, she also explores the languages, singing in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian (different Italian dialects), Gaelic, Latin, Hebrew, Haitian Criollo, Yoruba, Ladino, Romani, Swedish…   In constant research for as many influences she can find, Giulia refers to her practice as Magical Music. Her gigs are more like musical rituals, in which her deep voice, accompanied by a shruti box and different kinds of drums are the magical instruments, and songs take the audience to many enchanted landscapes.  Giulia’s first album balão de poemagia (meaning something like poemagic balloon) was released in 2018.   Celebrated as a musician in Brazil through her teaching, monthly concerts of new music and theatre performances, Giulia moved to Scotland in 2019 where she quickly became known on the Scottish music scene in Edinburgh.  She regularly performs, collaborates and curates music sessions at the infamous Captains Bar in Edinburgh and Leith Folk Club, collaborates with Flamenco Nova and is a company musician of dance theatre company Slanjayvah Danza - performing traditional Scottish, Gaelic and Spanish music and song in their award winning show, 6 Feet, 3 Shoes.   In 2020 Giulia released her second album, vôo dos balões entre as brumas (balloons flying in the mists).     Prior to Giulia’s artistic career she worked as a psychologist in the Museum of Images of the Unconscious, an artistic sector within a big psychiatric complex called Instituto Municipal Nise da Silveira. The museum is dedicated specifically to the use of artistic expression as treatment in mental health.

Academi Westend Academy® (originally Gwynedd School of Dance & Performing Arts Centre) has been established in Bangor, North Wales for over 40 years. Principal, Natalie Robb took over the ballet school in 1997 and has since developed it into an all-round performing arts school. We offer classes in Cecchetti Ballet, ISTD Tap, Modern and Jazz, LAMDA Singing, Drama & Musical Theatre, Acro, Street Dance/Hip Hip, Flamenco, Stage School / Musical Theatre and Wedding ‘First Dance’ Classes. In September 2011 we became a LAMDA Examination Centre, being able to offer classes and examinations in Singing, Drama and Musical Theatre, under The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA). In June 2012, we became the winners of the award for ‘Best Pre School Class in North Wales’ for our Dancin’ Dotz Class (as voted for by the Netmums members). This was a fantastic honour for our school and a credit to our little Dancin’ Dotz themselves, as well as our teachers. This class has grown from strength to strength over the years and is the very popular start to our Junior Programme ‘Westend Stars’. In December 2018 we opened the door to our new studio’s on Farrar Road in Bangor and rebranded to ‘Academi Westend Academy®’.
