fergushill riding stables
Established by Evelyn Aitken MBE in 1965, Fergushill Riding Stables has grown
into the successful centre it is now. When Evelyn started the centre, she taught
riders on her own BSJA jumping ponies and trained the local Pony Club games
team. As well as this she produced show ponies at the highest level competing
all over the country and at the Horse of the Year Show at Wembley. She became a
BSPS star panel judge and has officiated at many major shows including The Royal
International Horse Show at Hickstead and Horse of the Year Show. Evelyn's
daughters, Gillian and Phillipa took part in all equestrian activities and were
members of many BSPS Scottish, Pony Club and Riding Club teams. Both regularly
competed at HOYS and enjoy helping others fulfil their riding ambitions. Fifty
seven years after its opening FRS is a lively family run centre nurturing the
talents of children and young people in the various disciplines of
equestrianism, from the beginner to advanced riders.
