I have had a passion for music as long as I can remember, but it is the guitar that drew me the most. Yes, it’s a great instrument made famous by the rock bands of the past four decades, but beyond this the guitar is truly an incredible instrument; it offers a rich variety of sounds, different guitar types have an impressive and expressive palette of timbre – it’s great performed solo as well as making a great companion to any ensemble. As the founder my vision for Inspired Music School (IMS) is to build an enterprise that brings the passion that I feel about music to people’s homes, lives and their special occasions. My personal vision is to spread the joy of playing an instrument and make music more accessible to all ages and aptitudes. IMS has wants to provide an outlet that helps to nurture well-being and personal growth in every one of us. IMS aims to bring tools for wellbeing to every home, office, organisation and individual. Learning and playing music has been shown to grow the 5 ways of wellbeing that are shown to improve health, connect with other people, be physically active, learn new skills, give to others and pay attention to the present.

We were so proud when we opened the first pilates equipment studio, not only in Chorlton, but the only Pilates Studio in Manchester back in 2009. Although Pilates started to really take off in the UK around 15 years ago, the traditional Pilates studio complete with its unique Pilates equipment has taken much longer to make an impact in the North of England. But matwork is only scratching the surface of the full Pilates experience, to really get the full system as Joseph intended you need to come and visit us in our small Chorlton studio where we work (and play!) on the full system. Joseph Pilates designed the equipment himself and his exercises for the mat have evolved from the reformer and the other big pieces of equipment such as the cadillac, chair and barrel. Once you experience the studio equipment for yourself you begin to understand more fully how to get the most out of each exercise and you can then apply that to your mat work. For example in a mat class I often say “imagine that you have spring attached to your arms” – on the reformer and the cadillac you are holding onto those springs! By using the springs for resistance throughout the session you will feel the whole of your body working and really challenge yourself. The use of springs doesn’t just act to make exercises harder, it also can support you and is especially beneficial when trying to master rolling work.

Inner Flame is a local Swindon-based Charity running programmes for young people who find themselves at a disadvantage in Swindon and Wiltshire. The organisation was founded by David Wreathall in 2008. The passion is to give young people the tools and mindset to thrive in their future lives. Our programmes are based around experiential learning; challenging the young people and inspiring them to grab life and run with it. We are probably best known for the Prince’s Trust Team Programme, which is a 12-week full time employability and self-development programme. It’s an incredible programme and can genuinely be life-changing. We have also developed our own Mental Health Programme: Manage Anxiety Your Way. We created this in response to the increased need (even before the Pandemic) for mental health support for young people. This programme is proving to meet a need and the feedback about the impact on young people is powerful. Around these programmes we run shorter programmes to create a full progression route for young people. Success is measured by hard outcomes, such as young people progressing to the workplace, but also by soft outcomes; such as increased resilience, motivation and development of goals and aspirations. At Inner Flame we always start with the individual. Many young people who come through our doors have low self esteem and feel their lives have little value. We show them that they can achieve and help them start their journey.

Hello there, my name is Alex Koster and I am so happy you have found my website. I am a mindfulness, nature pedagogy and ecotherapy practitioner with a passion for all things Health and Nature – I believe both are intrinsically related. This passion extends out to a strong commitment to respect, protect and lovingly connect to our environment and Mother Nature, as we can’t have healthy humans on a sick planet. My professional background is in education/nature pedagogy, mindfulness, ecotherapy and holistic health modalities (see full details below). I am also the author of the multi-award-winning book “Roots and Wings – Childhood needs a Revolution”, a handbook for parents and educators to promote positive change based on the principles of mindfulness. WHAT IS THEATRE GYM? Theatre Gym is an acting school that teaches adult beginners. We run mainly acting classes but also some writing, puppetry and all things fun that are from the performance world. HOW WE TEACH We teach acting skills in a creative and playful way. Good actors can create characters, moments and atmospheres. Good actors enjoy what they do and play with stories and characters. We don’t have teachers with sticks that look at you with small eyes over their glasses. We have lovely people who are good actors who love helping other people. We want to see you enjoy the art of pretending to be someone else. WHO IS IT FOR? Most of our students have no experience or very little experience. Some of our students did some acting back in school, or took a few acting classes or an improv course and enjoyed it. Some of our students know they like acting and want to have it in their lives. Some want to try it for the first time to see if they like it. Some feel they need it to be more confident on stage and with people. Some are looking for a creative and playful spot in their week. A few of our students are performers who want to keep in shape.
