TYRO Studios is a studio / retail space based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, where we host creative workshops and lifestyle events. It is also home to a curated range of gifts & lifestyle goods. At TYRO Studios we run different workshops and events from floral arranging, to modern calligraphy, water colour painting, macrame & much much more. Our spaces are inclusive and safe for all people. All our workshops are run by incredibly talented and passionate tutors and are perfect for beginners. Our tickets are fully inclusive, you will not need to buy anything from us when you arrive; this includes all your materials and refreshments - all you need to provide is enthusiasm. Our workshops are aimed at adults (18+) as we serve alcohol. Our classes are small (6-10 people) to ensure that everyone gets as much direct assistance from our tutors as possible and run from 1.5 hours to 3 hours maximum (please check your specific workshop for timings) We cannot wait to meet and host you! We are based on Francis Street, Halifax but we also deliver motor vehicle, welding, manufacturing and engineering courses at our Engineering Centre in Brighouse and Motivate Centre in Halifax. Local Partnerships We have four educational sport partners; Halifax RLFC, Huddersfield Town FC, FC Halifax Town and Bradford Dragons Basketball Club. These partners provide us with coaching and facilities for our Sport Academy students. Engaging with Employers Rise at Calderdale College, the College’s employer services and business arm, works with over 500 companies across the region. Through our projects, we have supported over 3,000 employers and engaged with over 90,000 employed individuals.

I am a self employed artist, tutor and workshop leader. My personal working practice is figurative, incorporating my own dance movement language and working from other models and figurative imagery in the out comes of drawing, mixed media, art works, painting and printmaking. I have recently began to explore sculptural mediums and working with clay and throwing on the wheel. I am particularly inspired by the visual narrative gained from documentary and fashion photography and use my own and sourced photography as a visual aid. I currently I am currently teach and facilitate a regular figure and life drawing class, which is of a good standard. I enjoy tutoring adults as well as joining in with drawing and allowing others valid input into the group. I also run family Saturday morning art workshops at ocean studios which have included experimental painting and fun painting and drawing games, narrative book making, clay tiles, printing, marbling, badge making etc I also own my own portable printing press and can lead monotype, dry point etching and Collagraph print-making. I recently completed a year-long ‘defining practice’ course at the Newly School of Art and I endeavour to continue developing my own artists practice as well as working within the community in diverse ways, whilst drawing upon my wealth of experience. I am also keen to make drawn portraits of people at community street events. I continually visit and enjoy art exhibitions, live music, arts cinema, dance performance, theatre, comedy, street performance.
