This project is the vessel through which I teach about the brain mechanisms of dance in a fun, engaging manner so that everyone can access and get the maximum benefits from dancing. Oftentimes, the focus in dance science and dance education is turned to the body, leaving behind it's connection to the mind and brain. Understanding the brain mechanisms in dance can improve performance, make classes more inclusive, prevent injury and optimize both learning and teaching. In the workshops I provide the theory in a dynamic fashion, always applying it to practice promoting embodied cognition and equipping dancers with easy-to-apply techniques. In a fast-paced world where we are often disconnected from ourselves, my focus is to use the body as a tool of learning and give the what and the how in a practical and interesting way. Part of the workshops is dedicated to initiating conversation and exchange insights. Experiencing and sharing experiences leads to greater knowledge that includes subjective and objective aspects of knowing. My approach is based on scientific evidence-based knowledge, my background in dance (performing, teaching), coaching, and mental health experience. By being embedded in academia and being an active student, I keep up-to-date with the most recent information in a constantly changing neuroscientific field. From this project, I have developed my own evidence-based method called Dance Integrated Healing which enhances all the healing properties of dance. Sugar Storm has evolved with me as I’ve learnt, failed, experimented, struggled balancing working three jobs and running a business, supported my mental health, (and not supported my mental health) but at the heart of it has always been a love of the alternative, an encouragement of self-expression and a desire to be a little bit different. I created Sugar Storm as a call to arms, to encourage you to choose differently. Choose the things that feel like you, choose clothes that make you feel good the moment you put them on and every time after that, choose companies who are transparent, who support the things you support, choose yourself over and over again. Sugar Storm celebrates DIY, self-expression, unconventional living and embracing the things that make you unique. All those things that were at the heart of the business in the very beginning continue to shape the work I do. Over the course of 2022, and in large part due to the TOW development project and Metal residency for allowing the space to do so, I began to refocus and rebuild Sugar Storm Studio. This meant moving away from fashion and exploring new possibilities for my art practice, workshops, tarot and physical events. In 2023 I am focusing on creating new independent art projects and developing new ways to nurture creativity and empower unconventional individuals.

There is nothing I love more than listening to your goals and obstacles and setting out a structured plan for the future, all with the aim of living a better quality of life and making you feel fantastic in body and mind!” “Never stop learning because life never stops teaching!” I took my first yoga class at age 16 whilst working as a fashion model in London. It wasn’t until adult life, after going through a series of experiences which led to a deep depression that I was brought back on to my mat once again and really began a deep understanding and connection to the benefits yoga. I teach at several venues in Hertfordshire and abroad. I am trained in hot yoga but I also teach non-hot and enjoy guiding yogis from early beginners to advanced practitioners. I teach at a range of diverse locations but also at my studio in Abbots Langley. Click here for more information about The Studio. Yoga is a practice for everyone and although my journey as an instructor started as mind rehabilitation and a spiritual journey, utilising breath and mindfulness, I have come to recognise the health benefits for the body. My passion is to constantly learn more and educate myself further to pass this on in my clients.
